Novella had decided it was better to tell her father sooner rather than later. Her mother knew now after all and she didn't want Novel getting blamed for keeping it a secret if her father took the news badly. Honestly she was quite worried as to how he would take it, her mother had taken it surprisingly well really when she thought about it, though perhaps it was partially down to her own shock. All she knew right now is once this was over, one way or another she was determined to rest, this worrying and stress certainly made you feel a little weary. Right now though it was keeping her awake, so unsure of what her father would think.
Though she had been tempted to go alone, Frith had insisted on accompanying her. He had wished to be there when she had told Novel and now he knew there was no keeping him away when the time came to tell Dutiron. So Novella had no choice but to give in and let him come along, she stood outside her parents den now, worried gaze glancing towards him, she was silent for now, though her expression spoke loud enough, a last chance to escape if he wished, she could fill him in later.
As the evening hit the lands, Dutiron had retreated to his den to find his mate already there. He'd waste no time in settling at her side, perhaps an early night in order for the ageing Authors. The lands had been rather quiet that day and he didn't think any major issues needing his immediate attention would turn up any time soon, though of course he was to be gravely mistaken.
Novel had stuck true to her word that Novella would be the one to tell Dutiron the news, she hadn't said a single word about their daughter perhaps having something to tell them and so as the man heard a noise outside the den he would be slightly confused. Raising himself from the ground he would step closer to the entrance, mismatched eyes soon taking in the form of Novella and Frith hovering outside. "It's Novella and Frith." He would comment tone curious as he glanced back inside to his mate. He would then continue to exit the den, stepping outside to join the pair, intrigued as to what had brought them here. He wouldn't be worried for now, they hadn't yet given him any reason to suspect the worst after all. "Good evening, is everything ok?"
Frith would remain stood there, far more confidence about him than Novella herself would have. A part of her was thankful to have him there for that reason though she was still worried as to how her father would react to the news. She had no time to argue any longer with her mate if she wanted to however for her father would soon appear at the entrance, greeting them calmly and asking if all was ok.
Her mother would appear as well, and judging from her father's calm demeanour and the small look of encouragement from Novel, it seemed that she certainly would be left to tell Dutiron the news. She would take a breath and prepare herself to explain all, though once more still wasn't entirely certain as to how she would ago about it. This was far more difficult than telling Frith, and her mother had been the easiest of course, working it out for herself.
"I needed to talk to you about something." Novella began, she would cast a glance back to Frith once more and then rethink her choice of words. "Actually, Frith and I have something to talk to you about." She didn't want to drag her mate into trouble of course, but she would make it obvious that he too would be included in this conversation. Now came the difficult part however, actually bringing up the secrets.
"We have chosen to become mates." She would respond swiftly after her pause of attempting to find the words. Just spit it all out quickly she had decided would be her chosen technique, and then hope for the best. "And you're going to become a grandfather again." Now to wait and see how he would react.
No tie would pass before Dutiron made his way before them curious about what they had to say, and suspecting nothing out of the ordinary. It was obvious that Novella had said nothing about their actions, and it really would be up to Novella to tell him of their mistake. His mate would begin, first taking everything upon herself, but after a second thought very much including him within their conversation. He would lean into her side briefly, trying to support her with out interrupting what she needed to say. She would announce their relationship first, hopefully a rather good move on her part, and then rather quickly she would follow up with the real excitement.
Frith would nuzzle her softly, taking a step to stand equal with her ready to hear her father's reaction. Fire and ice gaze searching his gaze, hoping that he wouldn't have to make a quick dash for his own well being. Dutiron didn't seem like the type to lash out, but in either case he was prepared.

He would frown softly as Novella began to speak his own glance shifting to Frith as his daughter's did. Already he was starting to grow a little concerned now and the big news hadn't even been close to being revealed just yet. There was a pause, long enough that he almost prompted her to continue though finally Novella found her voice once more and Dutiron almost found himself wishing for silence again. They had suspected this upon finding the boy in her den that morning the mates though a part of him still wished they would have taken more time in such a decision, they hadn't known each other long after all.
His own relationship had progressed swiftly of course though this before him now was one of his youngest daughters, at least at the moment and it seemed wrong in some ways to think of her growing up. After another short pause however the real news would be revealed, the big problem. His expression would remain unreadable for now, mind barely able to believe that the words could be true. Grandchildren were wonderful of course but like this, was this why they had chosen to become mates so swiftly? Inside the protective father in him was certainly rising up, though Frith was right, the man wasn't one to attack without real reason and he would remain stationary for now, only his head turning to look for Novel's reaction to the news.
Novella had said it all and now with Frith at her side she would await her father's reaction. It was as usual rather impossible to read as he stood blankly absorbing the knowledge. She was thankful to have Frith there for comfort as the tension built even more, awaiting some sort of reaction. He would make one single move to glance back towards Novel now awaiting her thoughts on it all. She couldn't help but smile slightly at her mother's words. they filled her with some comfort after all. She still lacked confidence in herself to feel quite so excited just yet though perhaps once the worries of telling Dutiron had passed she would begin to feel more joyful about it all, able to enjoy the the time with Frith as they begun their own family. Anxiously now though she await him to state his thoughts.
Dutiron would drag out his reaction, his face completely unreadable as he looked back to Novel, the only other one to know. Frith would take the moment of distraction to nuzzle his mate yet again, not knowing what her father would finally come to say to them. It was wonderful to hear Novel's encouragement, maybe her easy acceptance would rub off on Dutiron. He wouldn't hold his breath though, still knowing that anything could happen. But no matter what he would dutifully stand beside the beautiful woman who would bear his children.

Instead of sharing in his mate's joy however his frown would only grow further, shifting his body slightly so that he could look between his mate and daughter and the man at her side. The affections between the latter certainly weren't helping him in that moment and he would once more look to Novel. Why on earth wasn't she surprised by this, what part of it was exciting? He couldn't and wouldn't share in the joy yet and it was becoming more and more obvious that this was the case, no happiness showing on his expression and certainly no congratulations sounding from him.
"How can you be excited?" He would look at Novel questioningly, his own lack of excitement evident in his gaze. "Rushing into such a commitment because of a mistake, another one at that. And this isn't the first unwise decision she has made regarding him."
To Novella's horror however perhaps the very thing she had been fearing was now going to come true. Here he was accusing them of having made another mistake, and as Novel would put it rightly a few seconds later acting as though they were children. Clearly she was not anymore though it seemed both her parents still had that power to make her feel tiny. It was only Frith, ever present at her side that gave her comfort and whilst she hated how her father was reacting, for her own selfish desires she was glad to have him there and would lean back slightly into him.
Her mother would come to their defence now, pointing out a few little facts to try and help him see straight. Honestly she had no idea if they would surprise him or not but she certainly hoped that he would be able to share in her mother's joy for them. She would be scared to speak, his own reaction hurting more than Novel's had earlier but she had to say something. "We didn't plan for this exactly, but dad it's not a mistake, I do love him." Novella would plead with her dad to see the happier side of things. "You gave Daril a chance, and Gitan too. Can't you give Frith one?" She wouldn't dare bring up Cherokee, he was a rather bad example after all, having let the family down. Darilnor however had not only been accepted into the family but been allowed to take over Ahlon with Lyric, clearly they had trusted him. She certainly wasn't asking for them to give Frith a pack, just a chance to prove himself the decent man he was.
He would have preferred Dutiron's silent approach to the matter, he would very much unhappily confront Novel about her opinion. Frith would feel his ears twitch slightly, hearing him call their love a mistake was hard to hear. He'd still keep by Novella though, knowing she need the support of physical touch as much as he did. He'd never felt so much confrontation and negative energy in his life, it was becoming difficult to stay in his peaceful state. Novel would again try to come to their defense, and even Novella would find herself speaking up. He wouldn't back down, he would stand by Novella and whatever she faced no matter who was in front of them. They were adults now, and it was obvious Dutiron didn't quite see that they would and could make their own decisions. Of course he'd never planned to start his family so soon, but he was confident in their abilities. He'd treasure these children and happily take care of Novella, wasn't that what anyone wanted for their child?

To be honest with the speed of it all it wasn't that the romance itself that was a mistake, of course his daughter was growing up and like her elder sisters would eventually find herself a mate, though not simply fall into a relationship because she had gotten herself pregnant, that wasn't the way it was supposed to work. With the timing of it all he was assuming of course that the pregnancy was what had come first, perhaps if the relationship had been revealed prior to this point this new discovery wouldn't have been quite so bad for him.
A part of him certainly had been tempted to point out that their first litter had hardly been a smooth ride, they'd made many a mistake with them. Of course though it was wrong to take this out on Novel, he knew that and fortunately tongue was held. Besides, whilst they may not have been the greatest of parents, the fact that they were still together surely spoke wonders, they clearly hadn't made a mistake in choosing each other.
Novella would list her sister's relationships now, he acceptance of those males. Even he however would notice the lack of mention of Cherokee and knew that it surely meant Novella herself could see that not all relationships were perfect. He didn't know whether to respect her decision more for that or feel she was more foolish for rushing now. "And what of Cherokee?" His tone was calming now but he would still bring the man up where his daughter had failed to.
To be honest though it would be ridiculous to try and split them up now. They had gotten themselves into this mess and if the boy truly wished to try and stick with her throughout it, well he couldn't really fault him for that, no instead he ought to commend him really. "Will there be a wedding?" He would question simply. His tone was still far from pleased for the two of them, still lacking his mate's excitement for the news, though she and Novella had certainly managed to bring that rarely seen temper down.
Novella had been here though even she hadn't seen what it was that had caused Cherokee to leave. One moment they were a happy family celebrating the birth of their second litter and the next he had gone. The children barely knew him and to be honest she didn't think she did either anymore, he had returned once apologised and then suddenly gone again once more lacking an explanation. There was of course no denying she couldn't guarantee the same wouldn't happen to herself or any of her other family members, though for now they were together and happy.
"He and Song were happy once." Novella responded. "And you would have accepted him too had he still been here." There likely would have been a lot different if the man was still here though she was certain that Dutiron wouldn't have been so hostile to him if he had never left. She held her tongue though nearly pointed out there would be another divided family if he didn't accept it, he was calming once more, she could see it, his expression resembling his usual tranquil one albeit still not a content look upon his features.
Would there be a wedding? Honestly she hadn't thought about that yet. She'd simply been happy that she and Frith had decided to start their lives together and then shocked by the pregnancy. "We haven't spoken about that yet." Frith had probably never witnessed a wedding in his life, Novella had seen a few in Ahlon though still hadn't considered her own just yet. It made sense she figured, but how would her mate feel about it. Mismatched eyes would look to him now for an answer. "What do you think?" It would be completely up to him, she would happily marry him if he wished though if he preferred not to have a wedding she would oblige with that to. As long as they were together really, that was all that mattered.
He had listened as Novella listed off other in-laws that Dutiron had accepted, and Frith would silently wondered why he was thought so troublesome. He truly cared about Novella, how was that not obvious to her father? Alas, Frith would have to begin his reputation all over again. It was worth it though, because having Novella at his side was worth it. Really none of the names would sound familiar to the boy, Song being the only one. He had to guess that Cherokee had left Novella's older sister at some point in their relationship. What do you know, someone else making a bad name for men trying to get with Destruction girls everywhere. He would shake the thought though, letting his own mind shift to ceremonious thoughts.
Dutiron would question them first, and he could see the obvious enthusiasm in Novel's quiet presence. Really any decision would be made by his mate, he didn't have any idea what a wedding might entail so best leave those up to Novella. "What do you think?" He would refrain from nuzzling her again, now that all eyes were on him. He wanted to be respectful to Dutiron, it wasn't pleasant being on his least favorite wolves list. "I want to do whatever you want." A ceremony would certainly shorten the list of wolves they had to tell in person, and he could official be introduced to the pack. "It's a viable option." again he would refrain from a nuzzle, but he'd lean his side into her for affection.

It certainly was rather unfair for Dutiron to fault every male for the mistake that Cherokee had made, even more unfair if Frith was going to be the only one to suffer from the other man's failures. Gitan after all hadn't received any harsh reaction from her father. She wouldn't make those comments out right but the thoughts had certainly been implied and Dutiron was realising the error of his ways now it seemed. The talk of a wedding on the table.
Frith would leave the decision up to her however, only remaking that it was an option. It certainly would make it easier to inform the pack of their decision to become mates, an excuse for a celebration rather than the suffering they'd faced as of late. "I think I'd like one." She responded gaze lingering on her mate for a moment longer before looking to her parents to confirm to them as well.
Novella would do her best to defend Cherokee at at least one point in his life, and she couldn't deny Song's happiness at least for a couple of years. Still she didn't want that for her daughter, she wanted Frith to be the one she got to grow old with. The pair would look to each other when thoughts of Marriage were announced, having not discussed it previously. Though she couldn't blame them for that, really Novel had no idea of when the relationship had started, she just hoped that they'd found real love in each other before doing the eventual deed. With little conversation Novella would eventually come to the decision that there would indeed be a celebration.
She hoped her mate would put down his grumpy demeanor and feel the joy and excitement that such an event would cause. The pack needed a reason to celebrate instead of mourn. Novel would rush forward, embracing her daughter excitedly. She worried about her children finding their other halves, to finally see Novella set herself up with someone, no matter the circumstances, would cause Novel joy. She had no doubts they would make it through this tough road block.
