The ebony pup followed the russet male through the landscape of the Whispering Caves. He was not sure what that would be like since he was not sure why they called this place the Whispering Caves, but, he would sure he would find out sooner or later. His tiny paws clicked on the stone floor of the cave as he could hear the wind echo from outside of the cave. His heterochromatic hues of blue and green were darker than before due to the darkness of the cave. He sniffed around and could hear screeching, cowering in fear he hid underneath Dayton, staying low. When he looked upward, the animals that he saw moving above seemed as if they were a large flying rat, his eyes showing fear and worry.

"Dayton, will those things up there eat us?" He asked in a whispered tone, cranium looking upward to him and waited for an answer. He had never seen a bat before, and seeing a creature like this terrified him greatly. His stomach growled as he winced in pain. He hadn't eaten for a couple days and he was very hungry. He was not sure if you could eat any of the black flying creatures, but the ebony brute would eat anything if it would keep his stomach from growling.

Dayton had pulled his son away from their new home for the day. He wanted to go exploring with him, to see the lands outside of the territory. It was his job as a father to make sure Aeolus learned everything he needed to know. And sometimes those things couldn't be learned within the boundaries of a pack. Sometimes you needed to step away and see the world beyond your front door. This seemed like a great place to start.

The two boys were cast into a close darkness as they wandered through the caves, listening to echoes of the wind. Aeolus needed to learn bravery, to stand up to the shadows that lingered behind rocks and around corners. Dayton hadn't learned to be brave until very recently, but that didn't mean his son should suffer the same fate. Screeches from above cut into his thoughts, and he looked up at the stone ceiling with a confused look on his face. Aeolus instantly cowered underneath him.

Dayton, will those things up there eat us? the small voice asked. Dayton blinked, surprised that the pup had still not taken to calling him father, but did not complain. His amber eyes were warm as he stepped away from his son. "Of course not," he replied, a grin lighting up his face as he growled playfully and pounced toward Aeolus. "Not if we eat them first!"

Aeolus would nod and continue hearing the constant screeching that echoed amongst the top of the cave. He was still smart for his age. And, since there were bats up on the ceiling, the pup thought maybe it would be a good food source. He would howl and bark as some of the bats came down from their perch, cupping their wings as they were about to go down and snag Aeolus it would seem. But, the pup would stand tall and try to be brave. One of the bats came close to him as he leapt upon the large bat that he would now know what they were called and tore into it's flesh as it lay dead. His stomach growled and craved for the flesh that was pinned against her small paws as he began to eat. When he had his fill, even though there was very little meat, he pushed the carcass over to Dayton.

"Please, eat, Father," He would speak in a calm and composed tone as he tried to lick the blood that stained his maw. His eyes were still dark as he could hear the bats screeching even louder, for he knew they witnessed him kill one of their own. He gave a small pup snarl and a few of the bats flew away while the other stayed and screeched, one even coming down and nipping his ear as he yipped in pain. Blood dripped from an opening in his ear after a small bit of it was torn off, and he looked to Dayton and nudged his chest as he whimpered from the pain, even though it wasn't that bad, he still hated pain immensely.
