With everyone paired off for their spars, Athena turned her attention to her own. She looked toward Quelt and gave him a nod and polite smile, deciding he would be the first of her two spars. She was interested to see what his skills were like, not only because he was the alpha of the neighboring pack, but also because he was Irune's mate. She just wanted to be sure her sister was with someone that could protect her, something she would expect out of anyone that chose to be mates with one of her siblings. Eager to get started and satisfy her curiosity about him, Athena stepped away from the group a bit to give them room to move before turning to face him with a smirk. "Ladies first?" She quickly settled down into her defenses. Her ears fell back against her skull, her eyes narrowing, and her lips pulling up in a snarl to expose her fangs and bunch more protective skin around her eyes. Her paws spaced out in a firm, widened stance under her while her toes spread and claws dug into the frosty ground. Her neck and tail fell even with her spine and her knees bent ever so slightly to increase her mobility and sense of balance. Lastly her muscles would tense as she prepared to lunge forward and her hackles would raise to bunch the loose skin there protectively around the back of her neck. With her defenses set and after politely giving him a moment to set himself as well, Athena lunged forward to make her first attack. He was a fair bit taller than herself, so she decided to aim her left shoulder at the center of his chest. She moved fast, hoping her smaller size would allow her to be lighter on her feet than he might be. She leaned her weight into her attack so the full force of her move could land in the middle of his chest if her attack met its mark. Whether she was successful or not, she would turn her head to attempt to land a shallow bite on his left shoulder, right at the top near the shoulder blade. If her shoulder had hit his chest and her teeth were able to get a grip on his shoulder, she would use those to throw her weight into him, hoping to push him off balance or at least slow him down a bit. It was interesting to be meeting his mate's half-sister. Or anyone from the Armada family really, it seemed like he had a strong attraction towards them, probably because of their strength. He would never admit his respect for Isardis in front of his enemies because he could be seen down for it. Yet the Alpha himself only thought that because his entire religion was based upon living true to ones self no matter if it was for the more evil or the more light. Of course he had his fears of losing, and it meant he would be less strong. Yet that was the point of a practice spar, and to get better. Even if it did mean he would lose his life if he didn't get better. He needed the determination to protect his pack. Quelt smiled at the girl with the same bi-colored mashed orbs he almost had aside from the difference in colors. As she gave him time to prepare he ran many things through his brain. Ears came to rest upon his slate head, to be safely tucked from view. As his head became level with his spine, and his tail came to rest that way as well. His toes splaying into the terrain and his weight evenly distributed so that he would be less likely to lose his balance. Hackles raised and jaws pulled back to reveal deadly canine's. His knee's bent at the joint so that he was relatively ready for anything and his shoulders rolled inward adding to scrunch up his scruff in order to protect the flesh around his neck. As finally, his eyes narrowed, and head tucked slightly as he watched her moves carefully. Her body made an attempt to smash her left shoulder into his chest, causing him to swerve to his own right so that her right shoulder collided with his left. His paws dug into the dirt to make traction as Quelt,being pushed back slightly, attempted to put them at a right angle as her jaws hit their target despite her colliding with his left shoulder. Quelt would attempt to move back slightly as a half inch deep wound cut into the upper portion of his left shoulder. A painful growl escaping his light maw as his eyes kept locked on her. His jaws splayed open with strong velocity, aiming to make contact with her left side just below her elbow near her ribs. His tail kept level with his spine as he also raised his left leg to try and smash into her right paw. Pressing his own heavy weight into her in an attempt to try and overthrow her balance since he was bigger. Trying to keep her at a close proximity compared to having her bite and run. 1/2 Athena v. Quelt for spar Attack: He tried to get them at a right angle. Quelt is aiming for his jaws to make contact with her left ribcage just below the forearm, along with his left paw attempting to stomp into her right paw. Defense: Tail and head level with spine, eyes narrowed, toes splayed, ears pinned. Knee's bent at the joint, head tucked slightly, hackle's raised, shoulders rolled inward and scruff scrunched. His weight evenly distributed.
