Autumn was in full swing. That morning she had awoken to a thick crust of frost, and the remaining puddles from yesterday's showers had frozen over. It wasn't much, but it was enough to have the young fae excited. Winter was a lovely season in her mind. Her thick coat protected her from all but the harshest elements, and it was much easier to chase down big game when they had to plow through drifts of snow and left a path for her to follow. It was a trick she'd learned last year, but hopefully this one would be experienced under better circumstances. Lox turned her short muzzle to the breeze and drew in a deep breath. "Snow soon," she said in her short, choppy way. "Tonight, maybe. Maybe tomorrow." Val looked down at the small creature and nodded, a small smile on her lips.

They sat on the low rise that overlooked the field of ruins, the one Ullr had tumbled down when making his re-appearance into her life. It was a much nicer afternoon than that one had been. The sky was a pale blue, crisp with only the faintest wisps of clouds hovering high up in the atmosphere. A flock of fowl flew over, doubtless bound for the lake. Obsidian lips stretched wider, thanking her mother for claiming this land as theirs. The lake had proved an invaluable source of prey as the season turned, stuffed full as it was with goose and ducks. The girl settled from a sitting position into a laying one. She had run her patrols for the day, surveyed this and inspected that. It was quiet more or less. Perhaps she ought to hunt down her siblings, but she had wanted to give them time to settle in. She knew they would seek her out if that wanted to chat, and while she secretly hoped they would, it would be unlike her to press the matter.
