It was autumn.

With cooler weather had come a gradual ceasing of the storms that had plagued them all summer, but it was also a horrible reminder that winter was coming. Winter, when the chill killed off all but the hardiest herbs and they'd have to depend upon what they had managed to store for supplies. Winter, when diseases and hunger would hit hardest, and only three healers, and Kassander and Callisto were not considered ready to be full healers so really the pack only had one healer.

Kassander was on a mission.

He'd been obsessively stocking caches since before the storms had started that summer and though the rains had molded and ruined many of them there were still a ridiculous amount scattered around Ebony's lands by now and he was continuously adding to them as autumn crept by. The way he figured it was, why waste time running all the way back to his den for herbs when he could hide caches all over and always have herbs nearby in emergencies?

That was what he was doing now, digging beneath a sheltered hollow where a flat rock had fallen against two others to create a small sheltered area to enlarge it for another cache. Backing out of the hollow, he shook dirt off his head and measured it by eye. No, not quite right. A bit bigger. He crawled back in, only his soot-tipped white tail and his snowy hind paws braced against the entrance still visible from the exterior.

It was strange wandering around these familiar lands, her mind recalling different things that she had believed she had forgotten. It was a wonderful strange though the fact that after so long Ebony could still be a home of sorts. As she had explained to Thanatos it was indeed a different feeling, the lands won by Katja could not bear the Olympus name anymore, it couldn't house the family and they were oddly cold in comparison to the homeliness that had once been felt. That she imagined now was perhaps how Svetlana had felt though why she still couldn't quite understand, she had been amongst her mother and siblings after all. There was no mother here now, though a marvellous reunion of siblings in a place they could all agree was home.

There was nothing however that could take away the strange view she came across now. Further ahead there was the rear of a wolf sticking out from a hole within the ground. She recognised the form, though quite what he was doing she had no idea at all. "Kass?" She would call out to her brother now as she ventured closer. "Are you alright?"

Kassander continued to claw at the dirt, scooping it back toward the surface and pausing once in a while to kick the dirt out. He was in the process of reaching out with his forepaws for more dirt when a voice suddenly spoke behind him, echoing in the small space. Startled he jerked around only for his head to meet the top of the den rather abruptly. A strangled yelp erupted.

A moment later he was able to slither his way out of the mostly-finished cache to stare at the wolf who had spoken. "Andi?" he squeaked incredulously. "Wh-what are you doing here? In Ebony I mean. It's great to see you!" He moved forward to embrace her, but a sudden thought had him withdraw slightly. "Your.. your mom's not here is she?" The last time he'd seen an Olympus wolf it had been to be dragged from Ebony to Olympus and... and he really didn't want to go back. He might not be the best brother to Val but this was their home, not Olympus. She needed him and... he really, really didn't want to go back.
