Long legs carried a petite form over the terrain, mismatched audits swiveling to catch the sounds of the songbirds while she wandered. Time to see some sights, now that the storms had died down in the eastern lands of Alacritia. The patchwork lass poked her head through a collection of reeds along the outskirts of the mangrove, wondering what could be inside. Nothing special, that she could tell. Someone had told her the waters of the mangrove glowed, but she could see nothing of the sort. Well, so much for a magical place. Still, it was worth taking a look around and seeing the sights within. Tea cupped paws traipsed across the marshy earth, and she frowned at her reflection in the still, murky aqua below. Who was this she wolf? The ebony lass could not recall when this transition had occurred, when these sharp cheekbones had started to make themselves known beneath her toxic eyes, or when these dark lashes had grown in to frame those acidic pools. The slightly over sized ears, however, she recognized. That's how she was sure this strange lady was her. Yes, this was Acadia.
Without another thought, her gaze drifted up to the mangrove trees. The branches interlocked high within the canopies, blocking out nearly all of the light that could hope to shine through. However, every now and again there would fall a dappling of yellow sunlight upon the interlocking roots of the thin trees. How nice, she just had to go and meander through the trees. Singular rust toned paw would lift, and fall within the stagnant water. A burst of blue light, illuminating her odd leg and the ebony fur of her chest. Vibrant green optics would widen with surprise, a muted gasp of shock sucked past her onyx lips. Holy shit! They really did glow! She giggled, still without a doubt a child. Now, she took the time to bound forward, and land with all four paws firmly planted in the mud beneath the water. Cerulean glow would form an aura about the obsidian girl, and she let out a peal of laughter. How glorious this was! Reckless abandon would drive her now, and she galloped through the murky water, no fucks to be given.

One misplaced paw later, she was face down in the stagnant pools. Well, no helping it now. Heaving herself to her feet, the sodden femme would continue to gallivant her way through the mangrove. Who cared if she was splashing water everywhere? Fun was all that mattered, playing in this magical place was the only thing in her head now. No one would wreck her fun.

The sound of another's motion would put a stop to Valeriya's own gallivanting. She tensed at first, a reflex from her young days of wandering where she ought not be, but then forced herself to relax. Things were very much different now. Besides, she was as curious now as she had been then, and it took no great effort to steer her course towards the sound's origin. Peering through the trees she found a damp, dirty young fae, who appeared to be enjoying her day despite the state of her fur. The auburn royal's grin grew wider yet. At last, she thought with a small laugh. Someone I can relate to. She herself was up to her armpits is muck and grim and her face was stained with goop and dirt from and earlier attempt to dig up some clams. "Lovely day, huh?" she called out, an easy smile on her lips and sapphire eyes gleaming with all the possibilities before her. She moved lithely, leaping over a tangle of roots so that she might view this stranger fully. She was a cute little thing, if you were into that. Her coat was an amalgam of colors, yet it seemed to suit her just fine. With a small laugh and a graceful sashay Valeriya mocked a sweeping bow. "Valeriya Xanilov, at your service."

It took a moment for her to realize there was another present, a young femme of burnt auburn tones and brilliant blue optics. This youngster as well was coated in stagnant water and mould, muck and dirt covering her face. She didn't care for her own appearance, like the rest of them. Maybe they could be friends? At the friendly query, she beamed and gave a light chuckle. "It is, even better with all this cool, glowy water to mess around in." She mused, melodic vocals boisterous as she dropped her acidic gaze to the bluish tinted aqua swirling around her paws. When she looked back up, the russet lass was standing much closer.
Toxic orbs swept over the frame of the sunset red female, taking in the strange marking along her snout. It almost looked like a little tiara, a pallid crown upon her face. She was pretty nice looking, and her markings were quite interesting. With such a unique look about her, she must have a lot of attention given to her. The introduction came swiftly, with a playful sweeping bow and a small peal of laughter. The ebony pelted wolfess grinned, bobbing her head a few times in greeting. "Acadia Frost, right back at 'cha!" She exclaimed in reply, giggling a little despite herself. Double dipped banner gave a playful wag, and she cast another quizzical glance at the waters around them, dancing with light. "Do ya think anything cool lives in these waters?" She mused aloud, before her sparkling gaze returned to Valeriya. It was a silent invitation, to join her in an exploration of the mangrove to find something cool that lived here and nowhere else. Maybe something super cool and also glowy!

Valeriya listened the the girl's words and laughed. She definitely had a point. The queen reared up and drove her front paws back down with a mighty splash, the glow filling the air in droplets for a moment only. Her laughter returned, stronger this time. "Well Acadia," she began. "I am way more than willing to find out!" Val turned and dashed off a short distance, vaulting over another tangled mass before skidding to a stop in the slick mud below. She cast a glance over shoulder to see if the other girl was on her heels or not. She had missed being able to gallivant as she pleased, when she pleased, with whomever she pleased. Absently she wondered if Acadia was a pack wolf. She didn't have the smell of one, and honestly Val didn't really care to ask. What did it matter, all things considered. It wasn't like the auburn spitfire was going to announce her position. Wolves got weird once they knew you were higher up, sometimes.

Valeriya slogged along, exaggerating every pawstep with an extra thud, sending out coronas of droplets with every impact. Whenever her paws would brush some new, strange thing, she would fish it upwards to investigate. Just then her pads trailed along something smooth and rounded. Brows narrowing she attempted to find an edge. She gasped when it darted out from under her. "Found something!" she called out, then darted after it, shuffling along until, Ah ha! There is was again. She tried to be quicker this time, but to no avail. Once more it darted away, and she grunted out a quick curse amidst her laughter.

At the idea to muck about in search of something cool, the auburn lass responded with gusto, and charged off into the mangrove. With a short peal of laughter, the ebony femme galloped after her like she was a hell hound on the other girl's heels. They slipped and slid and only got more goop all over themselves, but it didn't matter to them. At least not to Acadia, who was barely even recognizable as herself anymore. When the other paused to make sure she was following, the patchwork lass nearly toppled them both over. Instead, she dug her slippery little paws into the mud below and skidded to a stop with enough force to send her face first into the murky water underfoot. Leaping to her feet with a squeak of protest, she then proceeded to attempt to spit out the muck and wipe free the silt. No such luck, it would seem.
Eventually, she followed after Val again, when she heard the call about something new catching the other girl's attention. Giving up on attempting to get the rest of the muck out of her mouth, she came cantering onto the scene, and managed to trip over their quarry. Luckily, this time it didn't end with a dip on the glowing, stagnant pools. Instead, she let out a bark of surprise at the sharp blow. What the fuck! Shaking out her paw, she frowned and glared at the water it had just come from. "Excuse me, rude much." She snapped at the invisible foe, before deciding to see if she could get a good idea of who her attacker was. Before her mind could start to explain why this was in fact a very, very bad idea, she dunked her head under the water and started searching for her foe. It took a while, and she was definitely starting to see spots on the backs of her closed eyelids, but she got her jaws around the thing. Sort of. Actually, more like she got her mouth stuck around the shell of a turtle that was much larger than she had originally budgeted for. With teeth locked on either side of it, and her mouth now full of disgusting water, she reared back up.
"Ah 'ot ih!" She exclaimed, vocals garbled and breathy as she tried to get oxygen back into her system. That was a lot of underwater hide and seek with this little bugger. Now, there was the small matter of getting it out of her mouth...

It was a large series of bumbles and peals of laughter that got the pair to where they stood, and Valeriya's sides ached with an exhausted laughter. She nearly protested when her companion made to submerge herself but it was too little too late, and she settled for just shaking her head and grinning. When Acadia burst back upwards with some... thing in her mouth Val braced herself for some sort of lashing out. As the muck sloughed away Val realized it was a turtle. "Shit," she cursed in surprise, words taking the guise of breathy laughter. The creature squirmed and lashed it's head from side to side, but even if the darker girl had wanted to release it Val wasn't sure she'd be able to. Before another gale of laughter completely over whelmed her the auburn Queen darted towards the shore. "Nice catch. Here! Follow me," she said, unsure if Acadia would be able to see her to begin with.

It was not solid ground so much as a mound of mud and a tangle of roots dense enough to stand on. She waited for Acadia to turn her way, posed and ready to leap back in should the ebony fae stumble or if the creature should turn on her. Snapping turtles frequented the lake shore of her own homeland, and even if Val hadn't gotten a good look at this one, she couldn't be too careful. Those jaws could take off toes, destroy eyes, all sorts of nastiness. But she didn't think it prudent to warn Acadia of this. From all she'd seen, the dark girl could obviously handle herself just fine.

Her jaws were already aching with a fury, and she was considering her options to get this thing out of her mouth. She could try her luck at crushing the shell as much as she could, regardless of whether or not it was actually possible. That might have to be plan B. However, Valeriya's mirth was something she was finding she felt a bit of herself. She would have laughed, but at the moment that would be a feat in itself. She settled for slurred chuckling. The turtle was busily flailing about in an attempt to escape, and all it was doing was rattling Acadia's brains violently. Her head shook to and fro as the reptile tried to free itself, bobbed up and down, and altogether brought the feeling of intense nausea to the surface. Fuck, if she blew chunks now, she'd probably choke and die with this thing in her mouth. She swallowed back the taste of bile, hoping she could get this thing out of her mouth soon. Val headed for the shore, giggling all the while as she instructed the patchwork lass to follow her. Where was the shore, exactly? Ace wasn't that sure. She whipped her head back and forth like a confused bird, looking for where her newfound friend was standing. Slowly, she lumbered forward, tea cupped paws unsteady as they took uneasy steps.
She really should have thought this one through.
The dark femme slowly made her way onto the little mound of mud, digging her claws into the slippery soil to steady herself. "I'h gonna 'eed 'ome 'elp ge'in shish ou'a 'ah 'outh." She announced, the back of her jaws beginning to burn and cramp. She wouldn't be able to talk right for a week at this rate. Meanwhile, the turtle was starting to kick furiously once more, landing a solid blow on her cheek with one of those evil little feet of theirs. An indignant squeak was all she could muster in reply to that outrage.

Watching Acadia struggle with the creature was amusing to say the least. Val was swept over my muffled gales of laughter which she tried valiantly to repress, less she offend her new companion. As Acadia turned for the shore Val darted back in, using her should to try and guide the smaller girl. At long last, on solid ground, she began to think. What on earth had she gotten them into? Looking around, she found a hopeful solution. A discarded branch, fresh and none too large. Fetching it, she said, "If this turtle is any like those I've seen where I'm from, he should bite down on this and keep a grip. Maybe then we can pull apart." Hopefully, anyways. If not, Acadia would have to think of something herself. Valeriya could problem solve well enough, but this was a unique situation all around.

She positioned the branch carefully, slowly. If the turtle thrashed about, Val didn't want to poke out the other girl's eye. I'd hardly get thanked for that! she mused. With speed greater than she would have expected, the amphibian clamped down onto her proffered limb with enough 'umph' to rattle her teeth. Val gave a hesitant little tug and sure enough the creature had it's hold. She prayed he would keep it. "Aw'ight," she mumbled around the limb. "'Ull!" Val leaned back on her hind paws, keeping her grip as firm as she dared, less she break the branch in two.
