ooc: If you're interested in joining Fehu please reply to this thread so we can get this party started! Deadline is October 30th at 11:59 pm! My apologies to those that already posted in the claiming thread. I feel having a meeting in the pack terra might be more prudent.

A beginning is the time for taking the most delicate care that the balances are correct - Frank Herbert Dune

Cold marble under the new king's paws felt like a soothing balm to his road-weary feet. The Marble Wash smelled sweetly of nostalgia and as he closed his eyes Drashiel could remember his first conversation with his father. It had been brief but it had unearthed may questions for the young man. Why was Glaciem brought into being? Why had his father chosen to lead? And what exactly was their family? Over a year had passed and while Drashiel did not yet have the answers he felt he was closer than ever. He was born to rule, he could feel it in every fiber of his being. And that thought both excited and unnerved him.

Piercing peridot gaze lingered over the swirling, still patterns in the marble. It was only fitting that his pack would be relocated here out of the stink of the failed Adravendi queen. Drashiel leapt upon a boulder of marble stripped with swirling ivory and gold hues as a grin spread across his maw. Yes, this was the perfect seat, the gem for his empire. The earth was christened with his scent and all was falling into place beautifully.

Slate gray and rust head tipped back as he howled a long, commanding note to the sky for the wolves of Fehu and any that wished to join to come before him now. It was time for a new beginning.

"My friend!" The boy practically howled in return to Drashiel, his huge body rolling out of his den as his ears picked up the gentle song of his old friend. Drashiel and him were both in Indarra together, and they were the only ones beneath Isardis and his queen. It was, indeed, a very small pack. And Aldoro himself promised to please his king---because he had known how powerful that brute was. He also needed to repay him for protecting his now deceased wife. But once the pack had disbanded, Drashiel and him became nothing but loners.
Until now, apparently. Drashiel had founded his own pack! Aldoro would definitely be there to pat him on the back...maybe even join him. It depended on how Drashiel saw him. Of course, Aldoro saw him as an old friend because they had talked several times in Indarra. Maybe Drashiel only saw him as that random pack member who was fat and a little creepy-like. Ah...he couldn't help being creepy. It made him look much more dangerous, and that's what he liked!
Aldoro had already hobbled away from his den, far enough to be relatively close to where his friend stood. So once he was at that point, he began to run, with dust and debris flying up at his heels. Of course he knew that he wouldn't last very long in a sprint...due to his rather large size and constantly weakening ankles---but if it was long enough to get him closer to Drashiel, that was fine with him.
The massive brute halted and slowed to an exhausted walk, head beginning to hang and jaws parting into uneasy pants. Aldoro probably needed work on his agility...he could barely even stay in a sprint for a minute or two. Not good, not good.---Finally, he had arrived, and he instantly sprang before the multicolored Armada with a respectful bow. Then a gentle smile as he turned his gaze back from the ground to him. "It's nice to see you." Was all he said, before sitting and turning his head. Others would probably arrive momentarily.

The browncoated wolf had managed to trek herself all the way back to the northern continent without even fully realizing it. Maybe it was guilt for dropping her family and running off when they needed her, but if so it was buried under layers and layers of defensive adventuring and wanderlust. Maybe it was just that she'd gotten a craving for snow - which she had. The cooler fall weather in the south had gotten her thinking about glittering, frosty, delightful snow, and tunneling in it and throwing it and all kinds of fantastic things to do, and so she'd capered off north to find it. Instead she'd heard a call and, drawn by the familiar-yet-not voice, she'd bounded forward to investigate.

Stepping onto the strange surface of the long-gone river, she was delighted. But she was even more delighted to see the young wolf who'd called. "Hey!" she called out, trotting up to the gathered pair. "Hey, you're the guy from the place! What are you doing way up here?" For the moment she was oblivious to contextual clues like the new-pack smell and even the actual content of the howl. She was too enchanted with the marble beneath her feet and excited to see her fellow adventurer once again to pay it any mind. "It's Drashiel, right?

The porcelain babe was almost turning two, though not quite. The thought of aging wasn't pleasing, as the years go by it feels like you'd be getting wrinkles to soon. And we really couldn't be having any of that. She had just woken up, and wasted no time in getting to the gathering, she was still adujusting of course, wondering if she liked being beneath Drashiel, often wondering where they stood with one another. In fact, she was happy enough if they where civil, allowing S'alkrie to not think so harshly of there circumstance. she would step softly upon the floor like a petite dancer, movements precise and calculated. Her eyes would drink in the scenery before her, taking her time to look at every single detail the lands had to offer. Only a few minutes had gone past until finally arriving near the small gathering. As usual S'alkrie stayed rather quiet, feeling no need to make her presence known, preffering to be a more quiet individual in a crowd. She would sit near the side of the group, listening to the conversation that was going on, though there wasn't much of it seeing as the group had just formed. How would Drashiel do with ruling? would he be like his father?

The man had been dying for an opportunity to show allegiance to something. It was one of those random feelings that had such a strong urge that it influences choices. Sometimes this feeling was a good thing and sometimes it was a bad thing. He hoped that the particular urge would grow into something more? something fantastic. When he heard a summons, his ears perked up in curiosity and he ran, in fact he bolted, for the scene of the crime. His mottled and mashed fur was against the breeze which kept it slicked back as the young lad skidded to a halt at the scene with a wide grin on his face. He saw he was not the only wolf there. He figured that he should introduce himself as he did not recognize a single wolf on the scene but something seemed to hold him back from it. He thought about it for a few seconds before speaking. ?Heylo. The names Mordecai Cato and I?m interested in finding a home within these lands. I?ve come to the right place, yes?? He tried to play it cool but he felt like he failed miserably.

He was probably the youngest wolf there, if only by a season or two, and that made him a bit nervous. What if they saw him as a baby? No, he refused to let them think that. In the end, it was up to the king or whoever was in charge if he could even stay let alone if they look at him as just a kid. Once he figured out fighting like he had hunting and gathering and even a bit of healing, he would prove that he had what it takes to be a member of whatever the pack was called. It was then that he realized? he knew nothing about these wolves or of the pack that was being claimed.

ooc: keeping it vague for the moment. If you missed the first deadline you have a second shot. If you don't make this second round you'll be considered a rogue and have to start the joining process over. [this goes for those in the claiming thread to, they need to post here]
Next deadline is Friday, Nov. 7 at 5:00.

A joyous cry rang out and Drashiel turned to the large, exuberant form that was Aldoro. He'd met the other male during the short time Indarra existed. Apart from Isardis and Argent they were the only other two members to dwell with in the pack and he was one of the few wolves Drashiel had conversed casually with. Drashiel nodded at Aldoro, greeting the other with a knowing smile. He could rest easy, Drashiel remembered him quite well and knew he would be a loyal member to the pack if he sought to join. "It's good to see you as well Aldoro, how have you been?" He hoped the other was well thought it seemed he'd put on some weight and he seemed a bit? off on his feet. Hmm? he'd definitely need to be whipped back up into fighting shape that was for certain but loyalty was a rare thing indeed and that was enough to endear him to Drashiel.

Another cheerful cry caught his attention and he turned to see Satu, the young femme he'd met while exploring the southern portion of Alacritis. My, what a spunky group of odd balls he seemed to be collecting so far. Drashiel would have his work cut out to turn them into a force to be feared. "Yea, it's Drashiel. Drashiel Armada. You're name is Satu, correct? I'll explain in a minute, but what of you, what are you doing this far north?"

Out of the corner of his eye he saw Sal'krie slink into the gathering. His smile dropped just slightly. There had been so much damage between him and his former friend and he hadn't the slightest clue how to go about fixing it or if he even wanted to. After all? she was the one that had chosen to abandon him. He made a note to talk to her privately after the gathering. Drashiel didn't know if he could ease the wounds between them but it would be necessary for them to know where they stood with one another, especially if she decided to stay. Deep down he wanted her to but she had betrayed him once. Would she do it again? The darker, possessive side of him swore to keep her no matter what but the other side urged Drashiel to let her make her own decisions. Besides, there was a chance she'd only bring him trouble and misery. It might be better to sever his ties with her for good if she had no desire to be with him. Isardis was possessive and hoarding but Drashiel didn't like the idea of babysitting a wolf that didn't want to be here anyway. Besides? Roman was back now.

The final wolf to appear was a young male, a large brute matching Drashiel in height. He appeared with a confident grin on his face and Drashiel nodded to him in recognition, beckoning him to come forward and join the group. "Welcome Mordecai. You have indeed come to the right place." The gathering was young, both in age and in soul but they were a spirited brunch and he would unite them into a strong pack for was that not the sign of a good leader?

"I thank you all for coming. For those that don't know me I am Drashiel Armada, son of Isardis the former king of Glaciem and I am the Linjal, the leader, of this pack. I seek to found a pack in this land by the name of Fehu. It is a name of prosperity and also of luck, both of which I hope we'll have. This pack will be founded on respect and strength. You respect me and I'll respect you. Also know that I expect you all to be trained in the arts of battle. Everyone here must learn to fight. Idealistic views on peace have no place here. While I have no interest in seeking out war right now, that doesn't mean others won't seek to start war with us. Complacency has no place here! Those that choose to freeload will be punished or driven out." Lips pulled back loosely over fangs to emphasize his point. "I value hard work. Those of you that work hard and are active in your roles have the chance to advance. Weak links will be severed. Above all I wish to see respect grow among Fehu's members. Fighters are the bulk of our force but they would be weakened without the skills of healers and hunters. No one is without value. Understood? If you still seek to join me then state your name and your skills and goals. We'll go from there. If you wish to leave now is your chance."

He took a moment then turned to Sal'krie. "Sal'krie. I claimed you in a fit of youthful folly after you deserted me. I recant my actions, you're free to go. Take your leave." This was a time of new beginnings. The past had no place here and Drashiel was determined to move away from it. He was his own wolf, he was not his father. He was not simply another Armada or a former Glaciemite. He was the Linjal of Fehu.

Without meaning to the girl was a bit late when the male who introduced himself as Drashiel had called out a summons for those looking to join together to form this pack he wanted to create. Dark paws carried her swiftly through the land, head held high and turquoise eyes scanning the snow for signs of gathered wolves. Surely the call had come from around here, she didn't hear wrong. Oh, there! Her path sharply turned right as she headed for the group, only recognizing two of them from the former claiming.

Pace sowed once she was actually just within six feet of the wolves, taking a seat near one of the ends and turning her attention to Drashiel. He was introducing himself to the ground, and once again something interesting was spoken, he was in fact the son of Isardis Armada. This new fact would amuse the girl, causing her to make a small shake of her head with a smirk. Oh, if only the Valhallans knew of this. He was ranked as Linjal, their leader and was looking to form a pack called Fehu, founded on respect and strength. She nodded her head, this she could do. He wanted everyone to know he expected them to be trained in the arts of battle, everyone had to learn to fight and views on peace wouldn't exist. Freeloaders would be punished or driven out, fun.

The Linjal values hard work, and those who put the time in for it and were active in their roles would advance. Isis like he sound of that. Weak links would be severed, good, the weak shouldn't be allowed with the strong. Fighters would make up the bulk but healers and hunters would still be valuable. Finally he asked for those wishing to join to state their name and skills or goals, and those wishing not to could leave. The girl would take the chance now to look around the group, her eagerness suddenly shifting over to disappointment to see that her brother was not here. Did he change his mind? Whatever his reasons she would try to do her own thing and rise in this world.

She cleared her throat while at the same time rose to her paws, keeping her head held high yet slightly low out of respect for the obviously more dominant and powerful male. "Isis Sovari, we met previously when you first claimed the once disbanded pack over at the caves." She began to a loud and clear voice, ears swiveed around a top her head. "As I stated then, my abilities lie in hunting and fighting with some basic knowledge of healing. My goal, if you allow me in Fehu, is to excel in fighting while also offering myself for assistance when needed." Tail swung calmly behind her frame, turquoise eyes determined while lips curled in a competitive smirk. "I am looking forward to challenges and every possible chance to improve myself." With a dip of her head the girl would sit herself down and allow for others to do the same.

The regal green-eyed male was responsive to her exuberance, or at least enough to tolerate it, and Satu grinned and pranced closer, taking it as invitation to stick around a bit. "Yup that's right! Satu. I was looking for snow and found you instead!" She plopped her haunches down nearby and turned her chocolate gaze to surveying the slowly gathering crowd with a bright, avid curiosity as Drashiel greeted everyone.

He launched into his speech to everyone, drawing her attention back and she listened with head cocked to the side slightly. His full name and his brief lineage didn't pull a reaction from her - she hadn't a clue who Isardis was, or Glaciem. She'd still been stuck in her home pack during the siege and she hadn't gotten much wandering in before getting enfolded into Ludicael, and hardly any wandering after that, so she hadn't really had much a view to life out in Alacratia. His words however brought a bright grin to her face. They were so different from Ludicael! Drashiel was so driven. He made it sound so much more exciting to be part of a pack than she'd ever known it to be. She mentally glossed over his dismissal of idealistic views of peace, and severing of weak links and stuff, and her grin didn't even dim. She was certain he was being figurative, just giving them motivation and such. She liked the idea of being strong and active like he implied! She'd always been more drawn to the rough-and-tumble but she'd never had it really encouraged especially so since she'd been just a pup-sitter growing up, and then Ludicael hadn't been a very rough sort of pack. Left to her own devices in Ludicael she'd just floundered... but it didn't sound like she'd have that problem here, not one bit.

"Hey, hey! Count me in!" she yipped, bouncing back to her paws in excitement. This was far more like an adventure story than anything that had happened to her so far - imagine the stories she could tell after a real adventure like this! "I've done a lot of hunting but not with a group or anything. And I've never really done any fighting but I'd be willing to learn!"

The boy did indeed find his way to the right place. The leader did not hesitate to introduce himself and explain a bit of his background for newcomers like Mordecai himself. "Like I said, I'm looking to join. I'm a skilled hunter and healer but I've been looking into learning to fight and focusing on being a guardian-type wolf if you're down with it." He was not the most proper of wolves when it came to his dialect. His tawny rump settled down on the ground and his tail gave a bit of a wag. "Above all, I love to organize things. I like putting jobs to deadlines for some reason. It just kinda works."

He had spoken to Drashiel at this claiming and then had followed him with his sister here. He had no reason to be late much like his sister but he was none the less, following her in in silence to catch the tail end of the conversation. He already knew what needed to happen, already knew his ranking and Drashiel knew his wants and desires so why did he have to come? Unless maybe he was going to be tested to spar? Well that would be worth it. He would follow his sister to the meeting and seat himself beside her in silence, listening carefully. Was he still in? Of course! He would listen to everyone as they spoke, watching Isis as she spoke before clearing his own throat. "I'm Erion, we already spoke and I'm still interested?" He would say as he nodded to Drash and looked around at the rest. Was he sparing? If so then who?

Isis Sovari was the first to speak and he turned to give her his full attention. He felt a bit bad that she had to repeat herself but now that the whole pack was here it would be beneficial for everyone involved to know each others names and even their goals. Drashiel hoped they'd support each other in achieving their aspirations though there would eventually be competition when it came to the higher ranks. The Linjal though was not quite ready to hand those out.

"Thank you Isis, I appreciate your patience and your goals. I intend to hold a sparring session after this meeting and those of you interested in becoming Kriegers will be tested in brief sparring matches so that you can be assessed on your experience and technique." Whether they won or lost didn't really matter to him it was how they fought that was important though he had little doubt that woman would impress him.

Drashiel's left ear twitched a it as Satu yipped and bounced in excitement. She was the oldest present but definitely acted quite a bit like a pup. Well, she should get along with Aldoro then and Drashiel didn't want to turn away such enthusiasm for the pack. But where to put her?. she'd done a lot of hunting but none with a group, had she been on her own this whole time? "I should like to have some hunters ranked before winter sets in though I really need to assess your skills as you've not hunted in a group before. I'll hold a hunt for anyone to join at a later date." The ranks would move slowly but it was imperative that he saw these wolves skills with his own eyes. He did not know many of them personally and could not go on their word alone.

Attention shifted to Mordecai. A skilled hunter and healer. Both were excellent skills and would be sorely needed. Particularly healing. Drashiel shifted slightly, mind drifting in thought at Mordecai's goal. A guardian type wolf, hm? It was his following statement on organization that caught the Linjal's attention. "If you like to organize then I encourage you to strive for the rank of Direkt?r. It is a high rank though and one that requires my trust. I can not hand it out to a wolf I do not know very well yet. In the mean time though a healer will be desperately needed and your skills would be much appreciated. After the sparring I wish to see what you know. You're welcome to use anything you can find in this valley. When I stumbled upon Ethreal I also scavenged some herbs from one of the densites and place them in a storage den you're welcome to use any of those."

He nodded to Erion. "Very well, all who have remained are accepted as Arbeide, citizens of the pack though after the sparring tonight that will likely change and you'll be moved into more fitting categories. Isis you shall spar Satu, Mordecai I would like you to spar Erion. I will sit out so I can observe the fighting. Aldoro? you will sit by me and observe as well though I want you to think hard on the role you want within this pack. If you wish to remain an Arbeide simply say so but I do need an answer from you."

"Ah one last thing. A pack named Pantheon is holding a festival and most of Alacritis is invited. I intend to attend, whether you do or not is entirely up to you. If you do come I expect you to be on your best behavior. Create trouble for this pack and there will be brutal consequences." Drashiel would go mainly to size up the other alphas than to bounce about in frivolity. There were also political matters that would likely be dealt with. "That is all, you may begin your spars."

ooc: ok, have at it! I'll leave it up to you if you want to hold your spars in this thread or to set them up separately.
