The Stories They Tell!

She had heard almost everyone talk about the Northern land, a bridge connecting her home to the north. Now not only did they hear the Northerners, but now they could come here. Everyone seemed troubled by this and it was something the young female couldn't understand why. Were all those strange wolves bad? Did all of them mean to bring nothing but destruction to her home and family? Why did they want to bring them harm if it was true? So many questions but her main one was why? Perhaps everyone was wrong? But the Goddess wouldn't lie to them, she have had before so why would she now? She wanted to know so badly but there were other pressing matters closer at hand. Something about Shai never settled well with her. She wasn't blind to some of the looks he sent to her and her sibling. Why did he not like them? Was it because she didn't have as dark a pelt as him? Did he just not like younger wolves? Sure she could be annoying, she knew that. But Skah was her Hero and well if Shai was nicer he would be too! Skah was a great example of how wolves should be. And he was sacrificing himself for the good of the Oracle. Plus who wouldn't be more proud to be related to the wolf who guarded the oracle? The scent of berries filled her nose, sweet and bitter. Flopping down infront of a few elderberry bushes. As much as she tried to be involved, to make her siblings proud, she always found herself alone. She didn't like it, it was depressing, cold. Head rested down on her forepaws as green and brown eyes stared blankly ahead of her. So long as she had the forest and the Goddess she would never be alone. But nothing could replace the feeling of having family close by. To bond with the living, the now and here. And somehow she felt like she had somehow missed out on that. "Burn Baby Burn" |

She had brought him here to be closer to with the goddess and he had followed her lead in silence, not directing or counselling her. At some point she had turned towards the land bridge and the falls and he had gently redirected her but that was it. Today their travels would take them to the grove of wild berries. The oracle finding a spot and settling herself there, Skah would hover for a moment, testing the winds before he would back up a bit and allow haunches to fold beneath him. He would sit for a while before transitioning to a laying down position. He would say nothing, wait as she tried to speak to the goddess. Or maybe she was communing to the goddess now. He would doze here and there, resting until a familiar scent drifted towards him. Tiva? Why was she here? Head would lift, raising slowly from his paws as he studied Ojise and decided she probably wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. Long legs would unfurl beneath him, pushing himself up as he moved away from Ojise silently. He was still feeling tired constantly, still weak from blood loss but he was walking solidly now without swaying too and fro as he had been for the first few days. He didn't have to go far to find his little sister, thankfully not having to go far from his charge. Triva was laying amongst the wild berries and the massive male would pause a short ways away from her for a moment. Gaze would soften, a slight smile would drift across his features as he moved forwards to drop his massive frame beside her."Little sister..." He would murmur, words a low baritone as he reached forward to nudge her rich chocolate shoulder. He felt the usual tightening of his chest as he studied her. She was so much like their mother that sometimes it hurt. Despite her having never met their mother Skah still saw a lot of their mother in her. She was strong. A painful desire to tell her everything burned in his chest but he would quell it, hoping to simply have an easy conversation for the first time in the last few days. She could not count the times she imagined what her mother looked like, her voice, her scent, anything about her. Would life have been different if she lived? Was she a protective mother, a worried mother, kind and tender? She stifled a sigh as she pushed her nose into her left foreleg. So trapped in her own thoughts she was unaware of being watched. She after all never grew up to fear anyone around her. Why would someone attack her unprovoked? She didn't know what had happened to Shak a few days ago, nor did she want to. It had scared the day lights out of her and it was something she'd rather forget. A murmur to her side followed by a nudge made her jump. Fur spiking up in alarm till she turned her eyes to her large big brother. She would smile softly, allowing her fur to lay flat once more and poke him lightly on the nose with her own. "Big brother...How are you faring?" She responded. Her voice was soft, like the trickle of a small stream. Shak at her side only made her wonder more about Shai and their mother. She had never asked really, either too afraid to know the answer or just was uncertain of voicing it. She would look away, trying to just appear to be enjoying his presence but really avoiding his gaze. She did not want him to see the trouble in her eyes. The unsettling uncertainty of the unknown. She did not want to pester her hero. He had many other things to tend to than the her little troubles. She did not like to cause problem for her older siblings when she knew that there was already some distance between them. But one day she'd make them proud, one way or another. She just needed to find what she was good at and excel in it. "Burn Baby Burn" |
