breaking promises

She would leave Novaro in the early morning, staggering away from the vomit and sorrow as soon as the realization dawned on her. Pregnant? She was going to be a mom. And though that idea in itself did not bother her what about Mercy? She had promised the girl that she would be there for her, that she didn't have to worry about pregnancy or other children. She felt sick, numb. Everything felt off. But above anything else she knew she needed to speak to Mercy, need to speak with her young ward. She would walk with a stagger, lacking her usual grace as she made her way towards the giant white woman's den. She would take her time, trying to figure out what she wanted to do, what she wanted to say. What could she say? She had broken her promise. Ugh, SUCH a bad mom? She would slow, pause a moment a short way from Mercy's den before she would approach and seat her self delicately outside. Did she look fat? She felt fat? She would shuffle her paws, pulling them close to still slender body before flipping poofy tail over her paws. She would shuffle some more before finally deciding she couldn't put it off anymore. She would clear her throat before letting out a soft bark calling for Mercy. Hopefully she was home, they had a lot to discuss...
"Talk here."
"Talk here."

The sharp bark woke her from her dreams, a panicked state entering her at the sudden awakening. The girl jumped up and let out a growl, hackles raised and ready to protect herself. Hackles rose as she blinked furiously, waiting for her purple eyes to adjust. But when she saw the shadow of the woman at her door, she relaxed. She could tell at once by the size of her frame and the sharp point of her horns that it was Dione. Huffing out a breath of air she poked her head out, coat still ruffled and tattered from her sleep. "It seems like scaring people half to death is a talent of yours, mother." She said, not even realizing what she had called Dione until she came to sit beside her. Then, it dawned on her. Letting out a sharp gasp of terror she turned to the woman with large eyes, blinking slowly at her. "I... sorry." She stuttered, heat rushing to her pale cheeks. She hadn't even gotten the chance to wake up... could the woman really blame her for it? She was the closest thing to a mother since she left her own family, but she had no idea how the little spitfire would take it. Clearing her throat she turned and looked at her, still blushing. "Did you uh... want to talk to me about something?" She asked. There must be a reason for her to come out here. She couldn't tell what kind of state Dione was in, she didn't even notice the change in her scent. She was far too embarrassed to focus on much at all.
Mercy likes to swear and bite, and she can be unpredictable. She's not always nice, and is quick to jump into a fight. Thread at your own risk.
Mercy has a visible scar from her shoulders down to the middle of her back, in a v like shape. Not all of her art shows this.

She heard a scuffle within, so yes Mercy was home. Good. A low growl would erupt and a soft smile would trail across the woman's inky lips as she waited for the girl to realize it was her. A moment later she would rise, slipping out of her den. Dione was about to mention something about not having to be defensive anymore when Mercy spoke. Light taunting words would drift from Mercy's throat and Dione would smile. Until that last word. It echoed within her skull heavily, her heart tightening to the point of choking her within her chest. Mother. She was a mom. She struggled for words, a mixture of emotions washing over her. She was happy, so happy that Mercy had come to think of her as a mother but the nagging reminder that she was about to ruin that trust tugged at the edge of her mind. Mercy seemed to realize it suddenly too, seemed to realize Dione's hesitance as she stared at the young girl in silence. She would apologize. Finally the tiny green woman would find herself, shaking her head quickly and clearing her throat. It still burned, still tasted of vomit. Ew? Did she have puke breath? "Sweetie don't apologize. You can call me mo if you like. I would love that..." She would say softly, a smile spreading across her lips. A moment later Mercy would ask her if she wanted to talk about something and Dione would turn bashful once more. Dainty paws would shoofly beneath fluffy tail as she looked at the ground. "I'm..." She would start to say then fail, the words sticking in her throat. She hadn't even been able to say the 'p' word to Novaro. But she owed it to Mercy. "I'm pregnant..." She said the words softly, though they would drop like weight from her tongue. Immediately gaze would move back to Mercy who had just accepted her as her mother. "I am so sorry my sweet. I never wanted this to happen. I STILL don't want this to happen. But it is..." She would trail off and look at the ground again in shame. Jesus she was going to be a mother. Novaro had infested her with his big boned melon headed spawn and they were going to ruin her body. Worse yet. She might loose Mercy over this little slip up. No scratch that. This BIG slip up. She had made a promise and then had gone and broken it. Terrible terrible mother...
