Almost absentmindedly the boy?s large paw would bat at the dead bird in front of him, cold icy stare centered on the lifeless form. He would wear a worried frown as he studied the thing he should have been eating. He?d watch the way the feathers pulled back as he ran his toe over the downy feathers. There really wasn?t much to the creature save that poofy down. His tail was still, but his mind was running.
The cold breeze would ruffle his own fur, and he?d wish that his coat would have grown in half as fluffy as the bird?s had. He?d sigh as his examination came to a close, ending with his paws on either wing and his teeth buried in its breast. There was hardly a whole bite on the whole bird! With blood on his lips and feathers stuck to his chin he?d lift himself from the ground feeling uneasy from his meal. Maybe it had been a bit older than he?d thought...

Zola would wait inside the den, not too fond of the outside world just yet. But she would be intrigued by the sound of munching coming from beyond the den. She stuck her nose out first, giving a nice little sniffling and then her whole head. She looked to her brother who had been eating something, something their parents hadn't caught. Had he hunted himself?

Silent steps, she came behind Lian but made sure to stay far enough back so he wouldn't notice her breathing. She stretched out her legs to try and look over his shoulder, but soon enough he would be finished, well not quite. She backed away from him, going around him and sniffing at the partial-bird.

"Lian?"

She would question his weaving as she gave the bird a lick, but raising her head to look back at Lian. The blood tasted kind of stale, but she didn't have enough for it to effect her.

Zola always seemed to want to be in the den, and he found himself unable to explore any further than sight of where she was. Not consciously really, had he realized he might have tried to stop himself. It was likely when he was ready to go somewhere he?d do his best to drag his sister along with him.
He wouldn?t notice her approach, but as he lifted himself from his find and turned her features would come into view. He knew he wasn?t going to die, but he wasn?t going to feel good for a few hours either. His sister would question him with only his name, curious about his well being. "Zola?" He?d question back, putting on a stronger farce and ignoring the weird feeling in his stomach. He couldn?t let his sister see his weakness.

He seemed fine after she spoke, at least he looked fine. She wouldn't see as him hiding anything, and just assumed he had a moment. She would tilt her chin as she came close to him, eyeing the drying blood on his maw. It was shining off his white coat, and though it always seemed right to have some blood here and there, she would lash her tongue out to lick most of it clean.

Stepping back to see it as fit, she would motion for him to lead the way around. She didn't like to go out, but as long as Lian or their parents were around, she wasn't as paranoid. That and their move out of the Red Forest. She was kind of forced to leave the den for once. But it didn't break her.

She wondered if Jian and Lel were around. Daddy was probably away with the black lady, mom was most likely hunting or something of the sort. She highly doubted they were together.

She wouldn?t make any additional comments to his condition and he would resolve to putting it from his mind. Still, the irritation was there and he wondered how long he?d be able to play with Zola before he was taken out completely. His tail would wag slightly as she drew near, her salmon tongue poking out to clean the blood and feathers from his maw.
Though he wouldn?t make it obvious how much he enjoyed her touch the boy would solemnly nod as she stepped back, proud of her work. Still they?d remain silent, surely two of the quietest pups alacritia had ever seen.
Zola would make a motion for him to lead her, and for a moment he?d stay rather still, thinking through the queasy feeling. He would put him mind to the test as he decided which direction they could take. They?d already explored the shit out of the boat, maybe the beach was next? He?d suddenly nod, determined about his decision. The pale boy would walk by his sister, rubbing his side along her before leading the way to the shores. They?d just have to be careful to not get wet.

Zola would wait just until her brother was ahead of her before she started behind him. They had been to the boat, not really interesting anymore and so he would go opposite of, and down the beach. He would do well to hide his illness inside, Zola not spying at all.

They would walk down the beach a ways, she wouldn't pay any mind to place being new or frightening since she was with Lian, but she would stay close to him, her shoulder almost to his tail. She was scarred, but it wasn't as terrifying as should be.

"Whattya think is down this way?"

She would question with a higher voice, but it was in no way shaky or tormented. She knew what was the other way, the boat. But what could be this way?

She wouldn?t start following until he was fully ahead of her, paving the way for her pristine paws. His stomach would gurgle inwardly and he?d feel the discomfort as he walked, but he felt like he was strong enough to get through. Surely he wouldn?t feel this way for long. He had to protect Zola, that would always be his main concern.
As they walked down the sands he?d flick his tail against her, an affectionate gesture as he tried to further put her at ease. She was with him, what could possibly happen? Her tiny voice would rise up over the sound of the wind against the waves, questioning what they might find. "Water. Maybe we can find something to kill." There didn?t seem to be much else than beach up this way, hopefully a creature or two would be seen along the way.

They continued down the shore, and Lian would answer her question where she would feel almost relieved. Water, Nothing. But his second statement, what they could go do instead, made her a little uneasy. Of course, not the killing part, that would be natural in her years to come.

"I-I've never hunted before."

She would enjoy a "training session" with her brother, one that he would probably be involved with learning himself. Since Lel was out with the black lady and Jian was always out making their survival possible, it wasn't often that the two were able to go out and learn to hunt or search for herb or whatever.

Zola would lay her head on Lian's moving haunches in an effort to stay closer to him. It was almost a mention that she was scared if her voice hadn't already said so.

He?d easily hear the uneasy tone of her voice, he could easily pick up on the insecurities she held. Her fears were no matter though, he was here with her and he had every confidence in himself. The only cause of fear to him was their father, and he was with his black pet. He wouldn?t think of the man then, this was time for just he and Zola. She?d put her head upon his haunches, ensuring that she would not stray, as he led confidently. Though his puppy body was still more chubby than noble he felt proud leading the girl around.
Eager features would observe the lands around them curious about what they might find, he really wanted to make his first kill. Cold icy eyes would look over the sand, scanning for something that might be moving. He was slow with Zola trailing behind him, but he already knew that speed was not everything. More focus than he?d ever put into anything in his life he would put into finding something to sink his teeth into.
With much searching, they were very far down the beach now, he would finally spot the creature. He?d stop suddenly, eyes and ears trained on the thing before turning to comfort Zola. "Stay here," He?d whisper as he turned to stalk the sand colored crustacean. He?d bend his knees, finding now that speed was what he wanted. He? burst forward, as fast as his puppy paws would take him, sprinting after the thing. He?d leap, eager to get his paws on his prey, when suddenly it would disappear below the sand. All Lian would get was a faceful of sand.
He?d groan as he pushed himself from the partially wet particles. Shaking his pelt he?d look back over to Zola, not deterred. "Help me dig it out!" He?d call out, wanting her to help him in the task.

Lian would walk well with Zola's pace, Zola feeling comfortable with them being so close. But she would almost run into his rear when he came to a stop. He would tell her to stay, her jaw dropping as a little fear crept in. But before she could say a word, he was off after something she couldn't see.

She would wait for a second or two, paws getting antsy every second he was off. She started to inch her way toward him, looking around wait for something drastic to happen. But soon he would call for her to come help and she was quick to make her way over.

When she arrived, he started to dig and she would follow after him slightly hesitant. The two would quickly dig into the sands, Zola stopping to put her nose in the hole to examine what they dug up. But instead of her wonderfully feeling of safety, she would spring her head up with an enormous screech, The crab flying up in the air, forcefully thrown from her nose. She backed up a whole bunch of steps, coming to a rock and laying down, covering her nose. A few tears would fall from her eyes but she wasn't as terrified as expected, only in pain.

Maybe her world got a little less scary, actually. But now she wanted that thingdead.

The boy would either ignore or not even notice his sister?s distress as he left her, even her little steps forward would not be thoughts of as he called for her presence. Eagerly she rejoin him, but she?d be a bit hesitant in getting her paws dirty. He?d smirk at her slightly as he dug in, knowing once she started she?d enjoy it. What he hadn?t expected was for her to shove her nose into the crab?s hole.
He?d never tango?d with such a creature before, even he didn?t know about it?s terrible pincers, so when Zola squealed and pulled her head free he was in awe that she brought the crab with her. Bright icy blue eyes would widen as the crab flew up into the air, rotating several times whilst airborne. He?d spare a quick glance at his pained sister before he followed the crab, finding it had been stunned once it hit the ground.
A growl would leave his lips as he jumped after it. He had no idea how to pick the thing up safely, but luckily he?d grab it just where the pincers would not be able to catch hold of his sensitive nose. He grab the creature and bite down with all his might, only succeeding in injuring it the boy would carry it back to his sister. He?d crushed it?s shell, but it was still alive, fighting for its life even though it would not survive long with such an injury. "C?n oo kll ?t?!" He?d ask with the thing still squirming in his jaws.

It wouldn't take long for Lian to come back over with the creature in his mouth. Zola flicked her pupils up to him, full of anger to the tiny beast, noticing that he crushed it only enough to injure it heavily. Good. It was suffering.

See as he was asking if she wanted to do the honors, she sat up and looked it in the eye. She saw that it was close to its last few seconds and without thinking, immediately brother her paws on each side of Lian's mouth to push the creature to the ground and crunch it under her paws with a grunt. Hopefully Lian was only in for a kill and didn't want to see if the thing was even edible, because for the most part, it was all smashed and mixed inside now.

Zola turned away to face her rump toward her brother, the sting starting to get off her nose. But wait, had she just moved forward without her brother? It was a turning point in her little puppy life. She was starting for herself now.

For an excruciatingly long moment Zola would stare at the catch they had made, their eyes boring into each other as she thought about how to end the creature. Already its juices had spilled in Lian's mouth, he was quite convinced he didn't want to eat the creature. However, it had hurt his sister and deserved the violent end that Zola would finally put it through.
She'd rip it from his mouth with her paws, forcefully pushing it into the ground. Per paws would smash at it decisively until there was raw crab, sand, and shell all mixed into the little crater she'd made. His eyes would be focused on their accomplishment as she turned away, her paws carrying her from the dead crustacean. His big paws would follow after her, nosing her haunches playfully. "Does your nose still hurt?" He'd be sure to check up on her well being as he moved to her side protectively.

(OOC: Sorry short, not feeling well :x)

He would come behind her, something that felt oddly strange to her, but she wouldn't budge or shy from the front as he nudged at her bottom. She looked ahead as if he wasn't even there, and the unexpected happened.

"No."

She would spit, not necessarily a shout. She wasn't mad at him, simply just agitated at whatever the heck that thing was. But he could have easily taken it the wrong way. But she had really forgotten that he was here, just like she was shouting to herself or to some stranger.

Whatever just happened, it made her tougher. She'd be a little less scared of the world.

It was like she was ignoring him for a very long excruciating second, hre focus would be centered straight ahead before she answered his question with venom. He?d feel his hackles bristle at her tone, his own vocals mixing with hers as he growled as deeply as his puppy form could muster. He?d bring himself to lean against her shoulder, slightly confused about what had gotten into her.
She?d only gotten a pinch on the nose, just as her answer had suggested he knew it no longer hurt. Was she upset at him for not protecting her from that spot of pain? "What?s gotten into you?" He?d grumble as he tried to get a look into her deep purple stare. He?d wait to bare his teeth as they sat, confusion filling his thoughts.

She heard as the growl left his throat, but closed her eyes and faced away like she were a snob. Her nose was actually raised like she were disowning him. But when he spoke, her ears went back to her head and she turned around almost cowering with disappointment. She laid down and placed her head to touch his front paws, unless he backed away. This was almost her saying sorry, she hadn't known what had got her.

What was this she was feeling? It was like she had her first jolt of bravery. Killing the creature and then going against her brother. He was normally the one to lash out, not her. Would she become a rebel? Maybe. But where did she get it from, her mother was so given to Lel. Maybe it was the black bitch that did this to her. Maybe she heard her and father speaking outside the den or something when she was sleeping.

She?d keep herself from looking at him, turning up her nose and refusing to even look his direction. His words would bring about a change though, her ears would fall back and she?d come to grovel at his feet, her apology would be wordless and he?d accept it. Looking down with a scowl he?d watch her, this still wasn?t an answer to his question.
She?d seemed so brave and confident only a moment ago, it was hard to see her suddenly so ashamed. He didn?t like that she had spit at him and ignored him, but it had been fun to kill the creature together. "I like the way you smashed the pinchy-thing." He?d comment as he?d nose her neck encouragingly.

Side of her muzzle pushed against the inside of her brother's leg gently. His voice continued on to talk about the demise of the crab, and Zola let out a grin hidden away in her paws. His nuzzling mde her roll on her side to look up at him, the smile fading as she opened her maw to speak.

"Can we go home now?"

She wondered if her parents were back yet, but she wasn't wishing they were. She wanted to spend every waking moment with her brother, with Lian. They always seemed to be the only ones around. She wanted her parents to be around more, but Lian was enough.

He'd feel her smile against his leg as he spoke once more of her accomplishment, for a second he felt more like a cheerleader than her brother. He'd almost scoff at the thought as she rolled over to ask if they could finally end their adventure, asking if they could go home. He realized what a big day it had been for the both of them. "Yeah mother and father will be back soon. I hope." He'd nudge her to stand, taking the lead as he had when they'd come over this way. He'd wait for her to take her place and start walking back, his pace a bit more brisk than before.

He agreed to take her back home, and he set off with a nudge before she was able to stand up. She would lay there a moment as he waited for her to follow. She would stay with a grin, enjoying the good time they had together today. Why was he so good to her? Were they supposed to be like Lel and Callisto, or Lel and Jian? Was there even a right answer?

She would rise up from her place in the sand, rolling on her haunches before coming up completely and took another second or two to look at him. Whether he looked to her at all or not, she would leap forward to pounce on him and try to keep him down. Though she wasn't trying to wrestle, almost like an aggressive cuddle maybe. She was so eager to get home, but it could wait a moment.
