The burbling river leaped and splashed, racing around rocks and moving as quickly as it could through the confines of the riverbanks. If Angeal had been more profound, perhaps he might have made a connection between this river and his life. But as it was, the black male only watched the water, cool blue eyes tracking the movements of the river. It was large enough that crossing it would be a daunting task, especially this late in autumn, when the waters would surely carry winter's bite. And he did need to head back to Liste eventually. Still, until then, the black male was content to settle back on his haunches, black tail flicking idly in the air behind him as he sniffed the air. He had passed the boundaries of a pack not too long ago, and had debated investigating it a little more, but Angeal had eventually decided to wander past.



And then he had found himself here. The black wolf snorted softly, twitching his ears as he gazed at the water thoughtfully. What was he going to do with Liste? He wanted her to stay, more than he really knew how to explain, but at the same time, she did not need to spend any more time with this toxic male. He was a murderer and she deserved--no, needed something so much better than him. And he should have known better than to even approach her. He was a monster, after all.



It was only when the slightest sound of what could have been pawsteps reached his ears that Angeal stirred, lifting his head to glance away from the water and driving the thoughts that weighed so heavily on his mind away with a swift shake of his head. Had he heard pawsteps or merely imagined them? Angeal rose smoothly to his paws, turning to glance in the direction that the noises had come from. His ears twitched lightly as he moved, trying to pick up any noise over the rushing water that could have come from another wolf. Of course it was possible that he was only going crazy. That wouldn't have surprised Angeal.



But still, if there was another wolf out here, Angeal was curious to see what had drawn them out here.
