Soliloquy had taken Scorpion's words in perhaps the wrong way. Monogamy wasn't a trait that his brother had ever set a great example for though surely the white man could have realised that there was still time for any other woman for those occasions he wandered away for a break it was his precious private moments with his dear Isolde that would be running out. Once the children were here would they ever know peaceful moments like they'd once shared ever again? Unlikely. It was even more unlikely that they would if he carried along on this path they currently travelled, Soliloquy abandoning her in her time of need. He was scared, he should have realised that Isolde was terrified too.

Unfortunately though emotions weren't really things that Soliloquy wore upon his sleeve. He guarded them carefully and had never really revealed much about himself to anyone. It was perhaps only Scorpion that he had ever opened up to though even their talks were hardly soppy heart-to-hearts. He was a very private individual and perhaps that was why he ran to escape now rather than dare to share his time with Isolde.

He'd have to have been blind though not to notice how different she had become as of late. The few trips he had taken back to the range to check on her and Scorpion hadn't been for long of course though the spark between them had well and truly extinguished. He knew not she was seeking comforts from another of course though their own moments together seemed so awkward and pained.

How could he change that? He may not have been a one woman man though he did care for Isolde, perhaps one day he would care for their children too though that thought was certainly not one that entered his mind. Though they were not married and Soliloquy certainly had no plans for such commitments, she was still his and he wished for it to remain that way. He wasn't sure to be honest but that evening he made his way back to the range, finding himself wanting her by his side now.

He'd call her from the orchard, hoping that she would be able to hear his summons. Perhaps the more gentlemanly thing to do would have been to go to her but at least he had acknowledged the fact that she had liked the orchard, and this had been the last place they'd visited away from the range together. Now all that was left to do was sit and wait for her to arrive.

The sun was just beginning its descent when the half asleep girl would catch the sound of her pups father. There was a pang in her heart as she took the message, her head lifting from her dark paws as she debated what she would do. Dark eyes would shift from the entrance of the den to Othello's form curled against her. It wasn't really much of a surprise that the woman had not woken, Isolde knew that voice. Though it hurt her heart to think of him she'd find that her paws would be pushed beneath her form and she was slipping out the den.

Her belly was much more rounded now, she had never been a big girl, and the added weight was painfully obvious. Her movement would not yet be effected, but her self-esteem would be. She'd travel with her ears at her skull, for a long moment trying to convince herself to return to Othello's warm side. Though as her paws brought her into the orchard's snow laden trees she realized why he'd call her here.

Soliloquy had hurt her far more than she had wanted to admit, his abandonment of her at such a crucial moment had crushed her. She'd find that her pace would slow as she caught his scent, her expression becoming more pained as she drew more near to him. Isolde didn't understand how he'd been so quick to leave her, it wasn't only her fault they had gotten into this situation. She'd find that a bit of anger had been thrown into her pot of emotions, she'd defended him to Othello but she couldn't to her heart.

With a deep breath her slender chocolate paws would carry her into view of the man, her expression would harden still unsure if she even wanted to see him now. Taking a deep breath she'd stop a distance away, here willingly but not amused. She'd find his yellow gaze, the hurt and the pain he'd caused her evident on her delicate features. Her lips would remain shut, but only because if she said anything she knew she'd cry.

Would she come? A more humble being may have had their doubts though Soliloquy stood there waiting, eyes fixed on the distance as the sun lowered, waiting for her figure to appear. It wasn't long before only the moon hung in the sky, casting a pale glow over the cold lands and yet still he waited, frozen to the spot unsure if it he was convinced he'd soon see her or simply hopeful.

Fate was on his side even if Isolde's heart was not it seemed, there she was moving towards him now. She had grown larger in their recent time apart, the children within her growing rather well apparently. The distance between them had grown too, where once perhaps they would have rushed up with affectionate greetings she would pause out of reach and he would be surprised to find her gaze would meet him.

Though he had brought her here, Soliloquy honestly had no idea what he actually wished to say to her and with Isolde focussed on trying to keep some self-respect about her the silence simply dragged on. Who would be the one to eventually break it, to close the physical distance between them that honestly pained the white male.

"Isolde..." He would murmur her name softly as he began to move forwards, eager to close some of that space between them. Was that guilt in his gaze as he watched her now, longing for this to end? As much as he feared and despised the idea of having children he was finding that he hated the idea of losing her even more. He had certainly grown attached to the russet beauty, it was too big a leap to say love nor was he capable of really seriously using that word either.

Neither wolf would do anything for a long time, though she knew he'd noticed her. She could feel his eyes on her rounded abdomen, the pups growing fast than she would have ever realized. The big day would come up fast, and to say she was ill prepared was an understatement. Even with encouragement from Orchid and Othello Isolde felt like she would never be ready to face when she had to rid her womb of the whelps.

Finally she'd hear her name upon his lips, a gentle murmur as he pushed forward to close the distance she'd put between them. She would that she wanted to growl at him, to bite him and scream to let him know her displeasure. To show him that what he'd done was wrong, but as she looked into his eyes she'd find the guilt that settled there. She'd huff at him, tearing away her gaze as he brought himself near. She really didn't feel like being close right now. "What've you brought me here for?" She'd say softly, You didn't seem to want me at all...

How wrong she was. From the moment that Soliloquy had first laid eyes upon Isolde he had wanted her and never once had that desire left. It was an awful cliché perhaps to phrase it such as that and yet it was the honest truth albeit mostly in a rather shallow way to begin with. That being said the changes her body made to accommodate for the pups hadn't entirely repulsed him, he still desired her and certainly hadn't wished to escape her in his actions. It was the life growing within her that he was really running from. Yes they had both played a part in creating them, and both would be expected to play a part in everything from that point forwards yet already all Soliloquy had done was prove what an awful father he would surely be.

She wouldn't move closer to him, nor would she back away which Soliloquy took to be a good sign, at the very least it couldn't be a bad one. She would speak as well, voice softer than he may have anticipated and words with far more conversational value than he had provided. All he had done was given his proof that he had in fact remembered who she was despite his poor treatment of her as of late. The problem that followed however was the fact that Soliloquy had no real reply for her. He had not searched that deep into himself for an answer really and even if he had some meaningful response would he have been able to speak it out loud?

"I'm not sure." He would admit. He longed to take another step closer, though he had stopped as she had looked away and now instead simply remained watching her carefully for some sign that perhaps he could progress closer. It was strange how many steps back this odd relationship had taken, physical contact had been a base for everything between them really, beginning in from their initial meeting. "You like it here." Anywhere would have been fine for him, though Isolde had liked the orchard. It wasn't the gully that they had met though with that pack still claiming the lands there was no way he could take her there.

Isolde might have thought that the wolf felt so strongly about her at one time, they'd barely left each other's presence in the weeks leading up to their discovery. As he ran though, she'd take his disappearance to heart, feeling nothing but hurt. He'd called her though, proof enough that there was still something there. Maybe that was why she had come, that was why she hadn't backed away from his advance. They'd been together for almost a year, that had to account for something still.

She wouldn't look at him still as he answered her question, but rather unsatisfactory. He didn't want to apologize? Maybe tell her that he'd decided to official leave forever? Her eyes would snap back to him as he uttered the next statement. She did like it here, and he would make it obvious that he knew it. Not that she was ready to go rushing back into his embrace over the gesture. "I do," She'd agree simply, eye on him. He was going to have to do the talking since he was the one that dragged her here. She'd sigh, her eyes moving to the horizon. She wouldn't say anything else, though she would wonder at what he wanted from her now.

Soliloquy did still have strong feelings for her the problem was he was a selfish man. Yes he had some care and compassion for Isolde, he had after all clarified right away he would not put her life in danger over this mistake but equally he had fled for his own sake rather than staying for hers. One woman couldn't sate him, even if it was Isolde and though the sweet girl deserved better he simply didn't want to give her up. He was certainly not here to officially leave her.

Soliloquy probably hadn't aplogised for anything in his life to be completely honest. Even when he and Scorpion had suffered through their silly little arguments, again mainly due to Soliloquy's selfish behaviour. Somehow they had always simply gotten right back on track. Perhaps magically he expected the same would happen with Isolde now, though he wouldn't actually need to do anything at all but simply be there again for a while. Of course he was mistaken but he was sorely uneducated about truly compassionate actions.

His attempt to explain why here at the orchard had been pathetic and his useless point would receive a similarly useless response. It betrayed nothing of her thoughts and feelings nor gave Soliloquy anything to really comment on. He had recalled correctly though it seemed to be a fact that matter very little in the big picture. Of course it didn't, it was hardly important and hardly something that could redeem him from the way he had treated Isolde.

He would wait before speaking, perhaps anticipating something more or simply trying to work out what he had to do and say now. Never had he found himself in a situation like this one and he wasn't sure how to get himself out of it. "Isolde, will you talk to me? You've been so quiet." He still spoke rather softly, his usual confident air wavering in this uncertain territory. How would Scorpion have dealt with something like this, had he ever had to or was his brother clever enough to avoid getting himself into such horrible messes?

Once again silence would take them, she didn't know what he might be thinking or doing but she wouldn't let herself look at him. She'd be patient, she'd wait out in the cold for him now, waiting for some kind of real attempt to reconcile their sorry excuse for a relationship. He'd eventually say something, but it was hardly worth even mentioning. He'd be able to bring her gaze to him though. He was the one to bring her out here and he was the one what had wanted to see her, now he would expect her to talk to him! Ears would pin at her skull as she narrowed her cold gaze. "I don't have anything to say." She'd state, finding herself turning away from him. "So until you find you've got something real to say to me, I don't really want to see you." Then she'd finished, her fur riling up as she spoke. Isolde would add a rather pitiful growl before her paws started her off in the direction of the Range, and the warm seemingly selfless heart that awaited her there.

As well as never having been in this sort of mess before at all, Soliloquy had never seen Isolde angry before. She of course had every right to be and yet Soliloquy was momentarily stunned. So it wasn't the scariest display of anger he'd ever seen but the fact that it had come from his dearest Isolde and was aimed his direction simply didn't sit well with the white male. And then, before he could respond or even think of what to say next she was starting to leave.

He leapt into action now at that point, springing off and easily overtaking her stopping in front of her to block her path. Likely not the greatest move to do to calm down an already irritated pregnant woman but clearly Soliloquy was completely clueless as to what he should be doing. Maybe he should have gone running back to his brother for help first on this one but for perhaps the first time he was on his own left thinking with his own mind. Poor sod, it really wasn't going so well.

"Don't leave." It was hardly a fair thing for him to ask of her given that the hypocrite had left too many times now over the course of Isolde's pregnancy. He would try to meet her gaze though, with perhaps the most genuine example of emotions he'd ever displayed now shining in those yellow eyes of his. Even if he couldn't say it, he was sorry he didn't like this situation one bit. What was in her eyes? Pain and lack of hope? He couldn't read it properly to be honest, though he could certainly tell something wasn't right with her and he figured it was more than simply the pregnancy.

"Don't leave." He repeated the words, softer now and decided to abuse the fact that in stopping her he'd brought them close enough to touch. He extended his head that little, bringing his muzzle to hers to nuzzle her gently. He had never been good with words.

Dark paws wouldn't take her far before the sound os Soliloquy's paws behind her would alert her to his movements. He didn't seem satisfied with her decision and before she could walk five paces he'd materialize in front of her. Right in her path. A scowl would take over her features as a look of astonishment appeared on her face. How dare he go and block her path! He'd utter only two words, his eyes finding her own, but silence fell over them.

He certainly looked sorry, and almost pitiful as he watched her, again repeating those words she didn't want to hear. Would he say it? Admit that he had been wrong to leave her so? No, she didn't think he would. He was close now, she could have easily been able to get lost in his scent as he drew more near. Ever so softy he'd touch her muzzle. This would bring a heavy sigh from her lips, and a step beck. She wouldn't leave, but she wasn't ready to make nice yet either. "Why shouldn't I?" She'd ask, the harshness in her voice dissipating as she gave him yet another chance to try and reconcile what they had made together.

This move and his poor choice of words could have rather easily blown back in his face but instead Isolde simply would prove yet again that perhaps she was too good for him. She would stop now, not attack but give him a chance to explain himself, to speak something more meaningful than his little plead for her not to leave. She wouldn't allow him to touch her, pulling back from the gesture, it disappointed him of course but honestly there was no way Soliloquy truly understood quite how lucky he was here.

"I don't want you to." That was the simple answer of course, another selfish action really and surely could have been worded in a far better way. There could have been a chance for something deeper, even some cheesy cliché that might have won her over and yet all he gave was this single blunt statement that was yet another hypocritical line from his mouth. Isolde had wanted, needed Soliloquy there and yet he had gone. Of course never once had she asked him to stay, but she shouldn't have needed to. Would anyone get that point through into the seemingly thick head that this idiotic man had?

He wouldn't take very long to speak his next words, the answer also completely unsatisfactory. She'd growl, the attempt still pitiful but the message was clear that she was still not happy. "After leaving me alone to deal with this all on my own you want me to stay here now?" Isolde would cry, her emotions finally getting the better of her as she said the words she'd never meant to say. How could be be so absolutely clueless?

She'd glare at him as he blacked her way, and she would debate about going around him and continuing on her merry way. She had Othello waiting for her when she got home, a warm den and someone who knew how much she needed them. Someone who cared about her. Isolde had thought that someone was Soliloquy, and she's almost break as she thought of the way he'd hold her tenderly, or his prefect kisses he'd offer her in the mornings. Why had he, when responsibility called, left her and everything they had so easily?

Luck had to run out at some point and evidently charm had been thrown through the window quite some time ago. Now Isolde would finally break before him, all that pain and he had caused her spilling free and words of her hurt piercing through the tears. He stood there completely stunned, he hadn't actually seen anyone crying before and the display now left him even more clueless than before.

"I've left before..." He pointed out though at this point of time finally he was realising for himself how feeble a point that was. It was completely different now, he'd felt all this pressure of parenthood and of course Isolde had likely gone through the same shock, she'd not shown a desire to have kids, like him it was just a desire for the activities that had accidentally made them.

"I didn't mean to."That was perhaps the worst excuse yet. "I couldn't deal with it." Now he was getting somewhere, was this a little bit of opening up he was doing now. "We'll go back to the range or wherever you want to go. We'll stay there together."

She hadn't wanted to let him see her cry but there it was, happing more easily than she thought it would have. Sniffling she'd use her dark paws to wipe at the escaping liquid, her gaze avoiding Soliloquy as she did so. She wouldn't see the stunned expression, but would hear his pitiful excuse. He didn't see that it wasn't that he left, more of his timing and how long he'd stayed away. Though his next words were even worse, how did he not mean to just leave her? Her tears would dry as she narrowed her gaze and watched him, wondering if he'd ever be able to turn himself around.

Though she'd feel herself softening slightly at his confession of being unable to handle everything. They would share a common emotion on that ground at least. Still, he shouldn't have run off to do god knows what. She needed him with her. He'd go on, a rushed statement about their home and being together. Dark ears would fall to her head. Was she ready to take him back so quickly, did she really want him there?

The answer was yes, she knew deep down that their babies needed a father. No matter how screwed up his head seemed to be. Another sigh would leave her lips as she looked back up at him through her long lashes. "You have to be there Sol,"
she'd say quietly, "You have to be able to provide for me, for them." Her voice would take on an almost pleading tone. "We can go back together, but I don't feel like I'm ready to share a den again." He lost that privilege. "Prove that you will be here for me." A final statement would be given, she didn't know how he was going to do it but she figured only time would show his true intentions.

How was it possible that his words could get worse and better at the same time? Somehow though he was actually managing to redeem himself either that or piss her off so much that she couldn't even be bothered to cry anymore. She wouldn't move away however and would now look back to him to speak once more and this time apparently he had done something right, it was far more of a serious conversation than he would have liked but at least she wasn't just leaving him here. The range was his family's home now anyway to be fair, it wasn't like she could stop him going back there the lands were unclaimed but it was better to have made some sort of peace here.

He had not done a bad job of caring for Isolde in the past but now she and the growing pups she carried did need more care not him running off. That was the part he had failed to realise and it was the caring for them once they were out he still dreaded. He wouldn't say it now, part of him thinking it'd only take a step backwards from what little progress he'd apparently made now. She wouldn't sleep beside him anymore. He could live without that somewhat though it had been nice to have her there at his side. It was strange that he was willing to push himself this far, for a man that didn't want strict commitments or a marriage and kids he was certainly trying incredibly hard to get her back. "Alright." One single word. There was little else to say on the matter, he wanted to try, he was probably crazy and a complete contradiction of himself but he wasn't ready to let Isolde simply slip by him.

He wouldn't do anything more than listen, and for that she was thankful. He wouldn't interrupt her with more sad excuses and he wasn't about to try and touch her again. She'd say her peace, though she never should have had to, and then when she was through he would agree with one word. Really it was all he could do, there was no way for him to prove to her here now that he was going to do what he agreed on. "Good," She'd say equally as simply as it seemed their conversation had ended. She wouldn't offer him forgiveness or a place back in her heart yet. He was the father of her pups, and that was all he would be until he decided to apologize or prove he wasn't a worthless sire. "Take me home," She'd say shortly, "I'm getting much too cold." She'd allow him close proximity on the way back, her form would come to stand close to his, "Only because I don't want to freeze." She'd point out dryly as her gaze rested in the horizon, so ready to curl back up next to Othello and sleep forever.

This conversation would certainly go down as one of his least favourite conversations with Isolde he was sure. It had reached and end of sorts now it seemed though certainly still not a happy one. Life by no means had gone back to how it had before and still showed no signs of definitely reaching that spot. They would go home together though and whilst it was only for warmth the contact as they travelled, it still reminded him of their first meeting. He was tempted to nuzzle her or show some sign of affection there and then though his earlier attempt and her tone would keep him from trying. Apparently there was a brain in Soliloquy's skull after all.
