SNAP

Sage stood at the frozen lakes edge. Bi-coloured eyes looked down into the depths below. The perfectly preserved trees never failed to baffle him. It was wondrous. The bottom of the lake was too deep to see, simply fading into darkness.
Silently he sat, head down. How did it happen exactly? Was it gradual? Or was it one big rainfall then, SNAP, frozen. If it was the latter, there had probably been animals down there that froze with it. It was a sad way to go.
Shaking himself from his thoughts, Sage looked up to the horizon, where an orange sun gradually rose. The frosty morning air warmed a bit at it's presence, the rays warming the healer's fur. With a smile, he rose, padding out to the centre of the lake, on his way back north.
