Motif would flee from Rhythm, it was the first fight she had turned and ran from, and she did it for the sake of Rhythm.. and for herself. As much as she wanted to claw a paw across her sisters face, she knew that the consequences would have meant a life time of regret for them both. But even as she ran from that fight, she ran to another.
She had intended to keep Shaye sheltered from this, and she had thought it was working! She had thought her daughter had moved on with her life, that the palpable hearts of the young allowed her time with Rhythm to be but a dream, she had not known she had been sneaking off to see her Aunt, and she did not know what Rhythm had told the young girl. Had she told Shaye the truth? Or had she simply told her whatever put Rhy in a good light? She intended to get to the bottom of this, and she was going to do it right this second. She disregarded the fact that she was pissed and she clearly wasn't thinking straight, as she returned to Abaven's borders and howled for her traitorous little daughter. Her call shook with her own anger and she sure Shaye knew the emotions her mother carried, and she found herself wondering.. would Shaye show? If she did not, there would be hell to pay

Of course he heard the call of his angered sister, and his eyes grew wide as he jolted up because of it. Oh shit, someone was in a lot of trouble. Pulling himself to his paws he made his way towards her, reaching her side and sitting at it. Leaning against his sister, he placed a soft kiss on her cheek as he nuzzled her. Saying nothing else, he just sat there beside her to give her comfort. Her anger rolled against him like the tide of the sea, almost knocking him over with its force. He had spoken to the black and white babe as well, and knew that she only wanted her family to be together again. But Motif smelled of Rhy, and he knew that it was the source of her feelings. Letting out a sigh, he placed his lips close to her ear. "Be gentle with her sister, she is still young." Nuzzling her again, he just waited for poor little Shaye to arrive.

Shaye had been playing hopscotch (of a sort) down by the stream, trying not to feel lonely without Rhy, when the call of Mo sounded out through the pack lands. She froze, both her right paws up in the air and she swayed as she half lost balance before settling them back on the ground again and tilting her head. The last notes where still whistling through the air, and she could almost feel the atmosphere of them, the anger. She found herself slinking closer to the earth, her tail between the earth. The girl knew she was in trouble, big trouble, and she could guess why.

She whimpered softly and headed out in the direction of her mother. It was hard to walk right into the face of danger, but she certainty wasn't going to turn around and run in the opposite direction. She took a deep breath, and slunk off in the direction of her mother.

When Motif came into sight, she needed only one glance at the chocolate woman to know shit was about to hit the fan. She almost didn't see Bass, her mother anger gave her a presence that was hard to ignore, and seeing him there gave her the courage to creep a little further forward, and well her tail was tied very firmly around her back leg in acceptance of Motif's dominance, her head was also held high, and she met Mo's fiery golden eyes with the calm blue of her own, and sat down at her mothers feet, waiting for the explosion surely to come.

Motif was about as angry as she had ever been, the betrayal and upset had overruled her anger originally, when Rhy had chosen this path, but bringing in her daughter without her permission? That brought this to a whole new level, one where anger was her main feature, and she was sure feeling it now. Every time she thought of Rhy, so boldly mentioning her daughter, it climbed that little bit further, and she had denied herself the release of that anger on Rhy, what that meant of course was that Shaye was about to feel the full wrath of it, unchecked and ready to explode.

She hadn't expected her brothers presence, through perhaps if she had been thinking clearly she might have. He moved to her side and nuzzled against her, but she refused to lean into the affection, refused to let go of even a module of her anger when Bass whispered in her ear to take it easy, her teeth snapped together, a muscle in her cheek twitched. She wasn't angry at Bass, no, he had been by her side through all of this and even here and now he was beside her, she was angry at the logic of his words, the reasonable tone of word he spoke them in, the coaxing gentleness it dripped inside her heart to be easy. She refused to be easy, to be calm, she was going to explode, and to hell with everyone, Shaye had gone behind her back on this, and this was about her sister this was about Rhythm, her heart, the heart the other girl had so easily thrown away. She could feel the anger subsiding, and she knew that if she let it go she knew what the anger would turn to – it would turn into tears and more heart break, her anger was all she had about her heart right now and she refused to let it go.

She replayed the scene in her head once more, of Rhythm, of her words. "Mo, the only wolf you need to compete for that with is your daughter." she growled softly beneath her breath at her sister, and her eyes found Shaye as the little girl crept closer. She would watch Shaye, with her tail tucked between her legs, her head held high as she faced her angry mother, of her creeping forward until she was at Motif's feet. “Shaye” she said, her voice deadly calm. “Do you know why your in trouble?”

She didn't dare switch her eyes to Bass, but an ear did twitch in his direction, perhaps a silent plea for help as her mothers full anger descended upon her. There wasn't the molten fire she expected however, instead there was ice, so cold it burned as her mothers voice asked her softly, deadly, if she knew why she was in trouble. Her ears flattened against her skull and she held back a whimper. Her tail was about as tightly pulled into her as any wolf could manage and keeping her head up high was a challenge, through one she took on any way.

She took a deep breath, uncertain if her answer would make matters worth.. yet knowing her silence or a lie would, and since she couldn't (and wouldn't) change the past, her truth was all she could say. “Because I sneaked out of Abaven to see Rhythm” she sure as hell hoped her mother knew it was both sneaking out and seeing Rhythm, if not she was digging her own grave.

Her daughters head was still proudly held high, as through she had no shame for what she had done, and the tick in Motif's jaw returned. She could feel its erratic movements pushing against her cheek and lip, slowly, but surely, an, if unpredictable, constant, in the moment. twitch, twitch, twitch
and her eyes never left her daughter as the little girl took a breath and spoke, freely admitting that she had not only sneaked out of the pack, but also gone to see her Aunt. Motif's ice was shattered, and her anger was exasperated. “I thought we had an understanding! I told you about Rhythm, and you agreed with me. You lied and you picked her over me! How often have you gone to see her? Sneaked away from me, from this pack, put your life in danger, for her!

Shit, she could feel her anger turning to despair, she had never intended to turn this into an argument like this, for it to be a competition between her and Rhythm. That wasn't why she was angry was it? Because these two wolves she loved so dearly had sneaked off to play together? Because Rhy had betrayed them and Shaye had forgiven her when Motif couldn't? No! That was all ridiculous, she was angry because Shaye had lied, put her life in danger, and gone to see Rhythm who had probably lied to her!
“What did Rhythm tell you, Shaye? Did she tell you that Bass fought for her, got injured for her, turned her back on us!?” she demanded, fighting to keep her voice angry, and not upset, Bass's quite presence utterly forgotten in the moment

He heard Motif's call, but he was rather far off to really respond with any kind of quickness. The anger that he heard in her voice was unlike anything he'd ever expected from her and it worried him that it was directed towards their daughter. She should have come to him first if she had any intentions of punishing or confronting their daughter. He had every right to know what she'd done before Shaye was put into the hot seat. He'd feel a bit of irritation rise in his chest but he knew how much stress Motif had been under recently. He knew exactly how deeply she'd been effected by her sister's banishment, but he still thought she was simply punishing herself.

He knew very well that Rhythm was a huge part of Motif's life, to have her removed so suddenly would obviously do some damage, what he didn't understand was why she was upset with the girl and not their brother who had barred her from coming back. Even her own daughter she had been willing to share with him, to move from one end of the continent to the other on a regular basis, but now that her sister was a short trip away she couldn't be bothered to visit anymore. He was watching Motif destroy herself and he was powerless to stop her.

He'd not spoken of these opinions though, just quietly kept to himself hoping that Motif might come to her senses and forgive like Shaye. He'd suspected that she'd been wandering off, but he felt no immediate danger. He'd taught her well. He was worried now though, with Motif's current state he had no idea what she might do to their poor daughter.

Large paws would carry the titan as quick as he could to the meeting, feeling Mo's anger and seeing the three wolves already present. He wasn't sure about Bass's presence as he heard exactly what the crime was. Shaye had sought out her aunt, with out permission, and Motif had found out. He'd come to stand behind his daughter, a silent comfort as he waited for what Motif might do.

Motifs anger turned from cold, to fiery, as she let out all the reasons she was mad. It wasn't quite what Shaye had expected, through some of the reasons definitely where – others weren't. She had thought she was in trouble for sneaking off, and... yes... not quite telling Motif the truth when she had 'accepted' the story about Rhythm. But her mother hadn't told her very much! Is it so bad that she had gone off in search of some more detailed answers? Rhythm hadn't lied to her, she had treated her like an adult, she had told her the truth

And it was that of course that had Shaye finding her mothers fire inside of herself for the first time, accusing Rhythm of lying, of Shaye picking Rhythm over Motif.. what even was that about!? “Rhythm didn't lie to me! She told me much morer then that little bits you gave me! She did tell me that Bass fought really hard for her, but she also told me that Valentine asked her to stay, Valentine! Not the bad man, and she loves him. Its like Shai coming here to live with us because he loves us, you have to forget that stuff that happened before because its not either of their faults, they didn't ask for it! I don't understand Mum, how could I pick Rhythm over you? I love you both, as Mother and Aunt, you have your own places in my heart, not one spot that has to be picked by one of you!” she was exasperated now, and as she heard Shai's approach, and felt him stop behind her it gave her the courage to look her mother in the eye after she said all this. At least her daddy wasn't mad at her. At least... she didn't think he was...
