The sky's tears

Kreft sat face up to the drizzle of rain, eyes shut he felt every drop as it hit his fur. He loved the rain, it's gloomy feel and the feel of water weighing his pelt down felt restricting but yet he liked it. He thought of the rain as if somebody, somewhere, was crying and it felt good to hear the thud of raindrops on the ground and dwell in the feeling. He stood up and shook his body spraying a couple of droplets in every direction, he stepped under the shelter of a tree and watched as the millions of tiny droplets rained down into the fjord. In that moment he envied whoever had caused such chaos to create all these tears. He pondered this for a moment and sat down again, watching the seemingly never ending tears, he smiled to himself and waited for the tears to stop, so he could create some more.

Walk | Talk | Think The wet weather of summer had finally struck the southern corner of the world, and Anais felt somewhat indifferent toward it. Though it weighed down her fur the longer she stayed out in it, it was not all that intolerable. Of course, it meant later she would be having to deal with a very messy, very muddy Lebrah, but that was okay. She actually enjoyed seeing him grinning and sprinting and sliding through it, and even had a bit on her still from where he had managed to get her. But it was okay. Keeping him happy was part of her job as his caretaker. For the moment, however, she had left him to it and had set off in search of a quick snack for the pair of them. The weather might have sent the critters seeking shelter, but with her skill being hunting Anais was not worried about it. She searched, her nose down and scenting, only as she caught an unexpected scent she realized it was no bit of prey. It was distinctly wolf, and distinctly not of her family or friends. She froze, her body tensing nervously, and her yellow-gold eyes focused as she began to look around in search of the wolf she had scented. |

Kreft turned around as the scent of an unfamiliar wolf entered his nose, it was a female with golden brown fur and a scar on her right front shoulder. She was shorter than him by about two inches, he was relaxed as he observed her. The smaller female seemed nervous, but he wasn't worried about that he was used to the reaction. He wasn't in the mood to fight at the moment, mud and rain made for a bad fighting environment. He was curious about the female's scar, where did she get it in a fight perhaps she didn't seem like the type. 'I might as well ask anyways' he thought. Leaning his neck to the side to get a better look at the scar he said "Where'd you get the scar?" nodding in the general direction of the scar. He returned to a somewhat normal position, in the mean time as he waited for a reply he would listen to the sound of rain relishing in it.

Walk | Talk | Think It took a quick scan for her to finally spot the wolf seated beneath a tree, tucked away as well as could be out of the rain while she stood clearly without cover. No wonder she had failed to spot him right off the bat. His coat was comprised of such earthy colors that he seemed to suit the rich bark and muddy backdrop which he stood against. Her golden eyes stared openly, blinking because of the rain, and the rest of her remained still, caught within her old tendency of being anxious and uncertain about new wolves. She had thought to be over it after meeting and befriending Glacier and his family...but obviously she had been wrong. Here was a strong reminder that it was still strong within her. He seemed to watch her with a curiosity that matched her wariness in its intensity, and under his stare she felt herself begin to shrink in place, beginning to crouch and tuck her tail and ears. Who was this? Why were they here of all places? Why did she have to be caught all alone like this? Even having Lebrah with her would have been better than being alone. He spoke up to her, causing her ears to twitch and listen, but there was no friendly greeting, though neither was there any phrase that sent her skin crawling. Instead there was only a question about her shoulder, about her scar, and without answering she turned in place, just enough to take that little personal reminder of her father out of his view. "Who...who are you?" she asked, managing not to stutter though there was a pause in her phrase. |

The female turned to hide her scar 'Must be a sensitive topic.' he thought so he decided not to prod at the subject. The female asked who he was "Well I would be Kreft, the loner." If there had been a rock in the area he would have jumped onto it, but there wasn't so he just spoke proudly. The female seemed a bit skittish, it was normal for wolves with less of a spine to be nervous around him although this one was more nervous than usual. He sat down to let the female know that he wasn't intending on being hostile with her, he smiled and blinked every now and then to make sure he wasn't staring. When it came to it he could actually be a decent guy.

Walk | Talk | Think He neither said nor did anything when she turned her shoulder away, though she could not determine whether that was to show he respected her choice to keep quiet about it or if he simply did not care enough to pursue it. But at least he answered her question, providing her with a name to know him by. Kreft. It was a little strange to the timid girl, but then she had heard other strange names too. It came with living in packs and being exposed to many different sorts of wolves. Though she supposed they were just as common among rogues as they were pack wolves. Anais shifted her weight nervously after he had spoken, unsure how to proceed. She had half expected him to be evasive and avoid her direction question, but now that he had offered her his name she was likely expected to do the same. But there was a part of her, the part that had grown only close to those she trusted, that wanted to clam up and keep everything about her to herself...and maybe that was too rude than to be allowed. "I'm Anais," she answered softly, still fidgeting, "I live here." |

Kreft perked his ears as he heard the female reply, her name was Anias. The name came off with a gracefulness unlike his. He could tell the female was shy, but it wasn't his intention to befriend the women. So Anias lived here, it was questionable why anyone would choose to live in the vicinity of such a dangerous river. He sniffed her scent a bit more carefully than before, he smelled a pup on her. 'Is this women a mother?' he wondered, he had a soft spot for pups, but he wasn't going to bother with making his own. He wondered what would happen if he kept the conversation going, so he did "nice name, why of all places did you choose to live here?"

Walk | Talk | Think The nervous girl was still unsure what to make of the earthy colored male wolf as he continued stare her way, curious and intrigued though quiet in that he was not prying her for information. It was admittedly awkward for her to be there with him, and still made her anxious. After a bad run in with an unkindly male loner, she had grow more distrustful of them than anyone. But this one surprised her. She offered her name, and his answer was a simple nice name. There was no unnecessary flattery, no pursuit of more from her, and honestly she did not know how to take that. Could it be he was really just wandering through and only spoke to her for convenient conversation? He posed a new question, one that she answered more readily than the last. "It...it wasn't my choice," she explained, managing not to stutter again as her nerves calmed just a little. "My parents. They chose to bring us here. And we haven't left." Of course they were very free to go about as they wished, and had plans to move on soon once her younger sister was ready, but there was too much here to simply leave without good reason. And because he had asked it of her, "Wh-why are you here?" |

When the female replied he noticed a slight change, she was more ready to give her answer this time. Her parents brought them here and she hadstayed, If he was in her position he would have left as soon as possible. He never wanted to settle down and for good reason, if he stayed in one place he could only experience that one place, but if he explored he knew everything there was to know or at least the major stuff. Then when the female asked him the same question he had asked her he wasn't sure what to say, he was a loner there was no specific place for him to be he just didn't really care where he ended up. After pondering the question for a bit with a thoughtful expression he replied, "I don't really know, I just followed the path."

Walk | Talk | Think He seemed not to have a definite purpose in being there in the Fjord, and Anais took the answer with some comfort. If he was not up to something, that meant she and her family were safe from harm for another day. She wanted to believe that that could be the end of it, that this Kreft was merely passing through and would be on his way once he grew bored of the place. But plans changed, she knew this perhaps a little too well, and she could not quite shake her natural anxiety and distrust so easily. Their conversation lapsed into silence as the visitor failed to provide anything further for her to comment upon, and struggling a little she wondered what she could say that might prevent the pause from growing too awkward. She shifted a little on her feet and glanced around, half expecting to see a hint of a big brother lurking somewhere within the woods around her. They were always so careful, and yet rarely did she see them when she interacted with others. "We don't really...get visitors," she said quietly, hoping it might excuse some of her unease. |

A period of silence would settle between the two wolves, Kreft wasn’t good with silence it made him uncomfortable. He would stand up and glance around the area, his eyes and skull would turn back to face the woman as she spoke. They didn’t get many visitors, Kreft could understand why they didn’t. It seemed like the area itself didn’t have to much to offer and the one wolf he and met, Anais, wasn’t all that social. Kreft would make a decision to leave at that moment since he couldn’t think of much else to say, “Well I should go anyways, there’s a path to follow.” He would say the last half of those words with a tone of mysticism. Kreft turned around and walked along the way he had came.
