Borealis
Soft silent paws wove between fruit-heavy trees and berry-infested brambles, the small body radiating a natural arrogance endemic to feline kind. The long grey, black-striped coat could have belonged to any housecat, but the northern lights eyes that peered calmly through the orchard could only belong to one cat: Borealis. Well, one cat and his immediate kin, but that was entirely beside the point. As far as the lands of Alacritis were concerned, he was entirely unique. Also entirely trespassing, but the cat in question could not care less about where canines chose to pee. Why should the stench of doggy urine deter him from where he wanted to go? These lands were replete with fruit and therefore with the tiny creatures that thrived there. Mice, rats, squirrels... they would cower before him.

Ears flicked rapidly to deter the pesky insects that seemed to linger in the thick orchard air.  The sun was hot as always but the massive cat had found some shelter under a line of apple trees and was in the process of digesting a rather big meal.  He'd managed to snare a late season buffalo calf.  Not bad at all for the tiger though he was anxiously awaiting the coming of winter.  Ears flicked again, another routine check for fellow predators.  Skæ was aware there were wolves nearby though as he was not a wolf the social boundaries were lost on him.  He only knew that they had been in the area.  Typically they left the striped beast alone… though one never knew for sure.

Nostrils flared as he caught an unfamiliar scent.  Hmm… now what could that be.  Jade green eyes lazily opened as he peered through the orchard before getting lazily to his massive paws.  For a creature of such impressive weight and sized he moved as silently as a whisper.  A small creature came into view and Skælingr could not help but grin.  Why bless his soul!  It was a small feline.  It had been at least six months since he'd come across another cat, even one as small as this.  He could not pass up the opportunity to talk to something other than canines.

"How is hunting this fine afternoon?" he rumbled before chuffing in greeting.

Borealis
The rather large voice came unexpectedly, but Borealis didn't even startle. He did turn his head to glare with bright eyes at the intruder who was interrupting his survey of his new empire. But then his eyes widened, and a faint, excited mew barely vibrated his throat as he stared. A cat! But not a cat - a tiger, one of the huge jungle cats that had evolved to bear markings similar to his own. Seating himself he held himself with his head high and his fluffy tail flicking around his paws, forcing his excitement into a cool majesty. "Good afternoon, tiger," he mewed. "I would hope you aren't planning on stuffing yourself on my squirrels."

Ivory fangs flashed in a grin as the tiger peered down at the little cat. What a brave beast, why he moved and spoke as if he were the fiercest thing on four legs. The tiger found it quite endearing. Skælingr chuckled and shook his head in reply. "No, my fine fellow. I do not enjoy squirrels and I fear they are beyond my skill. I seek larger prey." Hunting squirrels would be the product of boredom as they could never sustain one such as he… but it might be amusing to try. "I am Skælingr… what is it you call yourself? I don't suppose you have seen deer as you've been scouting. I have caught their scent and it seems to be a reasonable feeding ground though I am still sated by my previous meal I like to keep an eye on local herds."
