When the city goes silent the ringing in my ears gets violent

She needed to keep an eye on her pups, and had left the den for a few moments to see what her middle son was doing. Compared to the other two, Ion was a strange pup, already so serious despite his young age; she could barely hear whatever he said as well. When she saw the young child, he was sitting near one of the rune stones, staring at it as if trying to figure out why it was there. Wagging her brown tail, she made her way closer, staring down at him with mismatched eyes, even if she could only see out of one.

Sitting next to him, she licked his head a few times, staring up at the rune stone he was examining. "Ion?" She worried about the small pup in a way, and how quiet he was. Was he sick? Hurt? Was something else bothering him?
