OOC: Looking for a simple two round spar. Default times will apply unless one of us messages the other for an extension.

Standing on the edge looking in, Warja gave the snow heavy battlefield a once over. She was looking for an opponent, someone to test her mettle against. Currently the sun was shining, there wasn't a cloud in the sky, and it was, considering the time of year, relatively warm. Seemed like a good opportunity as any in her mind.

Yfir was different than Secretua. Vastly different. Of course she'd known that going in, but now it was real. Warja felt compelled to better herself, to prove her worth to Katja. She would not be a disappointing addition to the pack. No, she would be an asset, a weapon. The fae was confident in her abilities as a healer, but her combat skills could use a little work and it was for that reason that she found herself in the middle of the battlefield on a chilly winter day.

After raising her chin heavenward Warja howled out a call for an opponent.

(I hope you don't mind me snagging this.)

Fur was tangled and dingy on the woman. Clumps started to gather near her rump and tail, bits of debris sticking out. Skin hung close to the bones, but only tight enough so that some of the ribs could be made out beneath the winter coat. Damn it was cold. For such an awful looking and dirty wolf, sea-green eyes shone uncharacteristically clear. The drugs had worn off, she had forgotten to get more, winter hit, and the rest was history. It was cold now, and Hani hurt. Not physically, but it had been so long since she had been without her drugs. She wasn't used to thinking without them. The first few days had been pure hell, pure hell. The woman couldn't even find a proper den, she was sure she was going to die. Her head had felt like it was splitting in two. She couldn't do anything about it, and she used to be a healer. She used to be a healer.

Finally, after what seemed like and eternity, the woman was able to rise. she was able to do more than just drink small amounts of water to live. An echo of the headache remained, but through that fog, Hani was able to find a small meal. The thin woman had pulled herself through it, even if just barely. How long had it really been? It was winter now, so Hani knew she had been on her medicine for a good chunk of time. The thought sent a chill down her spine, especially knowing that if she had a chance, she would probably take them again in a heartbeat. Without her medicinals, she felt vulnerable. Without her medicinals, she simply felt like she felt too much. Her exterior felt numb, while her inner thoughts and feelings felt like teeth gnawing at her very being. She wanted it to stop. She needed it to stop.

A call rang out for a spar and, at first, Hani ignored it. What use was a spar to her? After a minute, though, the idea started feeling appealing. Nothing was really at risk, right? Hani felt like she could think straight enough to fight and that it might distract her from her current state. Maybe it would release some of her pent up feelings. While contemplating the pros and cons of sparring, Hani made it to the battlefield and, before her mind was entirely made up, she found herself in front of her opponent.

Hani looked over the woman, her eyes widening. Did she really want to do this? She nodded at the woman and found a stance to ready herself for the first attack, challenger goes first, right? Wait- did she even decide that she wanted to do this? Hani let out a breath, her eyes narrowing. It was all coming back to her, but why was she doing this?

Hani's defenses began to play out slowly. Her tail tucked and her hackles rose, stance widening for balance. Her paws splayed wide, nails digging into the dirt for traction. Her ears tucked, and her shoulders rolled forward to protect her neck, tucking her chin, while her face and eyes scrunched together for added protection of her face and neck. Her pale head evened out with her body and her knees bent, evenly distributing her weight and lowering her center of gravity.

The woman let out another breath and she found herself giving her opponent a small nod. Now she was ready, "Come at me," she breathed, "Fight me."

Hani's sudden appearance and subsequent challenge earned her a slight head tilt. Warja had been expecting a warrior, someone strong and capable-looking, to accept her call, not this gaunt, unhealthy-looking woman. She had half a mind to rush forward and offer aid instead of launching an attack. This fae just looked...off. Sickly and unkempt. Her fur was dirty and matted, and she was thin enough that her ribs could be seen through her thick winter coat.

Warja could not, in good conscience, fight this stranger. For several seconds she simply studied the woman. No. Absolutely not. She couldn't do it. "I don't know if I should," she said bluntly. "Miss, are you alright?" The fae certainly didn't look alright.

She got ready. She had all her defenses ready. Her mind was made up, she supposed. She was going to fight this girl. This girl that was just... staring at her. Hani shifted under the gaze, "fight me" she begged silently. As if in reply, the woman stated that she didn't know is she should. As if to make it worse, instead of reading herself, the woman called across the distance, asking if she was alright. Of course she was alright! She wasn't great, no, but she was- why was this girl asking questions, anyway? Hani didn't know how to react at first. Spars didn't start like this normally, did they. Nervously, Hani shifted again, "Um, yes, just fine. How are you? Can we go ahead and fight, I'm not one for, uh, chatter and stuff." Hani tried to reset her defenses. Had she gotten all of them? She hoped so. Looking at the other, she called out, "Go ahead, now. Launch an attack, miss."

Warja's ears flicked back as the sickly wolf began to reply. Her eyes soon narrowed suspiciously. The fae said she was alright, but the young healer had the nagging suspicion that she was like that big Yfir lug that insisted he was okay when in reality his chest wound was one wrong move away from popping open and fountaining pus. "No," she said firmly, "I won't. You are obviously unwell and I can't in good conscience fight you without an explanation as to why you are so unkempt." Quirking a brow, she uttered the challenge, "Give me a good reason and I'll give you a fight." If the tan woman had a reasonable explanation for looking like she hadn't bathed or eaten regularly in weeks then Warja would relent.

Maybe.

The woman wouldn't fight her? She called for a fight and simply refused to fight her! So what if she looked a little off, that was no reason to not fight a wolf. Good conscience? That was a joke, no one had a conscience really, not when it mattered, anyway. The woman asked for a good reason she was looking like that and Hani formulated an answer before speaking, "It's a thing where I come from. You know, slim figure, natural, unkempt fur. Really it's all the rage, you should try it." Was she lying? Yeah. Would the other woman know? Yeah, probably. Did Hani care much about anything? Nope. "You called for a spar, right? What right d'you got to be choosing whoever shows up?"

Warja just stared as the sickly fae spewed some nonsense about it being a style or something. Uh huh. Suuuuure. And Kismet shot lightning out of his ass. "I've seen nose rings and earrings, tattoos and tribal scars, but I've never heard of dirty fur being a thing." That's right, she said it. Dirty. Not unkempt, not messy, dirty- because that's what it was. She had gunk stuck to her butt. If that wasn't the definition of dirty, Warja didn't know what was.

"I did call for a spar," she confirmed coolly, "And I did so believing I would be getting an opponent in their prime, an opponent who took care of themselves and would give me an accurate assessment of my worth in combat." What she got was a dirty, sickly mess. "If you can't even take care of yourself, how can you possibly give me what I'm looking for?" It was a fair question. "And I called. That gives me every right."

Hani listened to the woman as she snarked off some jabs at her fur being dirty and Hani muttered under her breath, imitating Warja. Well didn't she just know everything? Hani let out a loud sigh, rolling her eyes, "You called for a fight, and you talk a big talk, but you can't even, won't even, fight a wolf who you say can't even take care of herself. How come? You don't know if I can give you what your looking for, but you won't even try me." Hani wasn't sure why she was still talking, but she was, "I'm hoping you actually wanted a fight and didn't just want a big strong guy to come and flex his stuff for you." She was still doing it. She had prepared for a fight, and she wanted to get one. Something in her drove her to try and antagonize this woman, to make her snap and want to fight. Maybe she was offended the other wouldn't fight with her, or maybe it was the excuse of a conscience. Yeah, right. If Hani pushed the right buttons, she was sure all manners and means of that "conscience" would break. She didn't have anything to lose, and it was worth a try anyway, if only to prove a point to herself, "Maybe you were looking to fight so you could play the injured damsel in distress for some sort of kinky hook up? Don't tell me that's your plan for finding a mate, now." Hani 'tsked' her tongue, but prepared herself in case the woman snapped.
