He didn't often have a moment to himself, especially with Novella's sudden depression. Though as she grew more well he found that more and more he was not as needed. The children were growing quickly, amazingly so. They were beautiful and wonderful, gentle little pups with hearts of gold, and he loved them so much. The same with his older litter, he loved them dearly and was so incredibly proud of them. He was amazed at what he'd created. The unexpected family that had come from his unexpected meeting with that beautiful pale maiden in an alabaster shrine. She was the single greatest thing to ever happen to him.

These thoughts would linger on the Author's mind as he climbed to the top of the falls by himself. He hadn't quite made it back to the den for the night and found himself detouring to the tall structure in the new moon light. It was just beginning to appear on the horizon and it was absolutely huge. He'd smile softly as he reached the summit, his form relaxing obviously from his hard day at work. He knew he wanted to be back with his family soon, but he couldn't help but to give in to the allure of solitude for just a few long moments.

There was moment taken for solitude that night as well, though much of the time the young man found himself alone. Félicien loathed that feeling, but, in the end, it made those moments that he did spend with his family all that more special. He would pad on under the moonlight, along the waters that held so many memories. Good and bad mingled within his head, and the boy would give a soft sigh as he looked up at the moon. Sometimes his life felt empty... and he wasn't quite sure what it was that was missing.

As he went on to climb the falls he would catch a familiar scent; the scent of Frith. The young man would continue to climb, wondering if he might have a moment with the older man. He didn't know him well... but he hoped to remedy that and get to know him a little better with this meeting. He would arrive, coming up quietly beside him. Bi-colored eyes would look to the other and he would speak softly.

"Hey Frith. Lovely evening tonight, huh?"

"Listen to me talk," 'but read my thoughts.'

The chocolate alpha thought himself bathed in solitude as his bicolored gaze took in the heavens above him. His form was sprawled easily over the grasses that covered the top of the falls, the sound of the roaring water would lull him as he relaxed away the worries of the day. The thoughts of the festival as well as some old haunts that still lingered. Their pack was still so young, and with Legend being scarce once more their higher ranks were barren. Was he enough to keep their pack safe?

Frith would sigh heavily before catching the scent of another on the wind. Frith's features would perk at the scent and sound of Felicien's approach. He would smile softly as the boy drew more near, coming to take his place by Frith's side. "Hello, Feli. It certainly is. What brings you up here?" He had to raise his voice over the sound of the falls, as he looked to the younger male. He wouldn't attempt to push himself rom the earth, but he would focus his attentions to his company.

The boy would let his gaze linger on his uncle as he addressed him. What brought him here? Félicien would let his gaze wander across the falls, breathing in as he debated on his answer. Finally he would speak, making sure his voice was louder this time so that way the falls wouldn’t drown out any of his words.

“To be honest with you Frith I’m not one hundred percent sure. I guess I feel like something in my life is lacking... Just not completely right. I feel like I don’t really do enough for the pack either... Like all I’m doing is taking up space.” Féli would frown. “...I’m not really sure how to go about changing it either. I’m at a completely loss on what to do with myself...” He’d let his gaze shift back to Frith.

“Maybe you have some ideas?” He’d ask, voice hopeful.

"Listen to me talk," 'but read my thoughts.'

Feli didn't keep his gaze on the chocolate alpha as the question was asked, the man would watch as the boy thought about it himself. Frith could see the gears moving in his mind as he decided what it was he was going to say. Frith knew very well how inexperienced their pack was, though he knew it was his own fault for leaving them untrained. He and Novella needed to step up their game. Frith's dark ears perked at the boy's words as he confessed what was going through his mind, a sense of uselessness that he could not shake. In the end he'd ask advice from the older alpha. What could he do? "You've certainly been helpful when it comes to the pups," He'd make sure to praise him for that, especially when Novella had been sick. He'd heard that Feli had been a giant help with the pup hunt. "Felicien, would you accept our Mystery rank?"

Félicien was caught off guard by Frith's praise. If that wasn't enough, the fact that the man asked him if he would accept the rank of Mystery in their pack was even more of a surprise. It wasn't just a better rank, it was a leading rank. The young man knew they needed wolves in their higher ranks, to teach the younger and less experienced about the tasks that they needed to survive. Féli would close his eyes, breathing in. Was he really worthy? Was he ready to take on such a task? The young man could really only wonder. Sure he had done okay with helping the pups but... Félicien would silence his own thoughts.

Why would Frith ask if he wasn't sure? Why would Frith offer the rank to him if he thought him incapable? Félicien would open his eyes, giving a slow nod. "I accept the Mystery Rank." The boy would give a small, sheepish smile. "If you really think I can do it... then I shall give it my all for Threar. I want to see our pack thrive and continue on." The boy would dip his head, ears giving an embarrassed flick. "You know Frith... I... uh... Thanks... for everything."

"Listen to me talk," 'but read my thoughts.'

There was no doubt in his mind that he could trust Felicien with the rank, though he still couldn't smile as the young man was caught by surprise. He hadn't expected the other wolf to react this way, he'd close his eyes and breathing deeply. Frith's ears would perk forward curiously, second guessing his confidence that Feli would accept. Eventually though he'd again see that gaze, and a gentle nod from the young Destruction. He'd accept. Frith would relax a bit, the worry of running out of food had weighed heavily on his mind. Knowing the responsibility was more evenly shared brought him relief. "I do. Your aunt and I thank you." The boy added a nervous thanks and Frith would nod. "Though, I do have another favor. More responsibility I suppose." Though an easy going smile still lingered on his lips there was a seriousness to his voice. "Feli, I want you to evaluate Frosts's performance. Gauge what her skills are, but more than that I need to know if we can trust her." He'd gotten a weird bad from the girl the first day they had met, and though he scarcely saw her he didn't miss her scent on some of the food he ate. He wouldn't offer the strange feeling he'd had, first he wished to see his nephew's reaction.

Though the feeling in his chest was not one of complete and utter confidence he couldn't deny that he felt happy that he had been chosen to fulfill this task. It was a task bigger than himself, part of the bigger picture of it all. He had wanted such a thing, didn't he? To be part of something bigger? Well here was his chance. The young man would breathe in, letting his mind slowly accept the fact that all of this was okay. Everything was fine, taking a change for the better. It was then that Frith would mention something more. More responsibility for his take.

Féli's ears would twitch, curious as to what it could be. Frost, huh? So apparently the young woman hadn't done much to prove herself to the pack yet. The young man would give a nod, brow furrowing some. #857a2c"I'll keep a closer eye on her. From what I've seen she hasn't been trouble so far, but I can understand why you might be concerned. She's not incredibly active within our pack." The boy would offer Frith a smile. "You can count on me, Frith." He would say gently.

"Listen to me talk," 'but read my thoughts.'
