It had taken too long, much too long to flee the life she had once led. A part of Estelle knew that in part was thanks to her newest hardship, one that still gave her troubles… such as is it did now. With a growl the girl stumbled back from the rock she had been attempting to climb on top of. She nearly lost her balance but managed to swing front paws back down to earth before she tumbled over.

Merde! She thought to herself as she was forced to limp around the stone to try and find a better way to climb up its surface. Hardly even an hour in these new lands and she was already struggling without her siblings… not that they could help her at home, at least not openly. That was the disadvantage to being the “perfect” progeny… no matter how much you wanted to you couldn’t disgrace yourself by associating with the runt.

But that of course was the reason she had managed to run, no one cared where she went or when she came back so it was easy to slip away. She had managed to talk to Soleil before leaving and she knew her sister would pass her message off to her siblings though their parents would hopefully not hear of it.

Seeing a small dip in the stone’s side the girl bunched her muscles, leaping at the rock in an attempt to put paws on the dip’s surface. She had miscalculated though, and while her front paws clung to the rough surface she hadn’t managed to get hit anything but air with her hind paw. Scrambling frantically the yearling finally managed to pull herself up and she crawled on the top of the rock; where she promptly flopped onto her side. Estelle was panting and her front legs ached but at least she was off of the snowy ground.

Winter was hardly the best time to search for plants. There were some that managed to grow in the cold conditions but searching for them wasn't exactly fun. He had gotten into a habit with searching for plants though, enjoying those little breaks away from the pack and Ellingham certainly appreciated the opportunity to fly further than normal and so the pair found themselves out and about, though it was a walk and a fly more than a hunt for flowers really.

Sorrel had followed Ellingham's lead today, though the owl had soared off further than Sorrel was particularly keen on and though they'd travelled more than a decent distance, Ellingham was still nowhere to be seen at that moment. To Sorrel's displeasure however there was other company lingering around, the scent of another wolf was fresh and as he kept his eyes peeled, he soon caught sight of the dark figure clinging to the rocks. Hopefully they could ignore each other...

The girl rolled on her perch, covering herself with a light dusting of snow. For a moment the yearling lay on her side listening, scenting the cool winter air. Lids slid open as she smelled the stranger; Estelle rose into a sitting position turquoise gaze scanning for the unknown male. She was oblivious to any thoughts the boy might have about avoiding socialization instead she was suddenly overwhelmed by her own emotions…

This was the first wolf in these new lands that she had ever met and that in itself was exciting but it was also scary… She wasn’t on equal footing with most wolves, she was beneath them; or at least that’s what she had always been told. Fixing the stranger with an intent stare Estelle finally spoke. "Salut!" She lowered her gaze as she drew attention to herself, ducking her head and pulling ears back slightly, her tail wagged weakly as she held a submissive pose.

It was only after the words had left her mouth did it occur to her that the wolves here might not speak her tongue… she knew only a little English but not quite enough to hold intelligent conversation and she certainly didn’t know any other languages. Well now she just had one more thing to worry about.

To Sorrel's misfortune it seemed that the darker coloured female didn't share his views of avoiding others and was in fact quite eager to meet someone in these lands. Though she wasn't overly bouncy in her greeting and held a submissive sort of stance it was still far too bubbly for Sorrel's liking. A passing hello... wait a second that wasn't even English!

He hadn't even considered what she had actually said, automatically assuming it to be some sort of greeting but now he paid attention to what he had just heard and realised it was French. He understood it a little, was by no means would he say he had a fantastic grasp on the language though his father had taught them a little and he certainly understood enough to know what she had just said.

A little intrigued, for he hadn't met anyone outside of his immediate family that spoke the language, Sorrel for once found himself somewhat stuck. Natural instinct was still to ignore her though some part of him was strangely tempted for a challenge, he had of course retained the main lessons his mother had taught him, could the same be said for knowledge that his father had shared? "Salut." He responded anyway, though tone alone was far less enthusiastic and he was heavily leaning towards the walking away now.

Estelle wasn’t exactly surprised to hear his response, after all she had no idea what the common language in these lands were and to hear the stranger respond in her own native tongue lifted some of the worry from her; even if in the end this would end up being a rare encounter. A small smile split across her features though she refused to lift her gaze still standing holding herself in as a submissive pose as she could muster… especially as she realized with a jolt of fear that she was standing higher than he was.

Slowly she slid off the rock, stretching herself out as much as possible as she did so and feeling a satisfying pop in her back, still her gaze remained low and she moved slowly… carefully. "Je suis Estelle, " she introduced herself in a soft almost cautious tone. " vous vivez près d'ici?” She was curious to know more about the lands and wolves here.

Slightly more submissive or dominant behaviour probably wouldn't have altered Sorrel's view point at this moment in time. A drastically more dominant personality may have done, though she could have quite easily relaxed a little more and not had any effect upon Sorrel at all. To be honest he concentrated more upon her words, a little rusty it took him a moment to work out what she had said and what it meant. Some things came to him easier than others.

"Sorrel." Though he was able to properly introduce himself even in English you were lucky to get a response on the more polite side. His mind was mostly thinking on the right words to say what he wanted to as well. "Je vis Threar." Not quite the right way to say what he meant of course but it should be close enough. "Mon meute. Not far from here." He couldn't think of the words, he had no idea if she understood English but he couldn't put it into French. "Comprendre?"
