How did this happen

Ellasyn had never done anything so foolish before, nothing so incredibly senseless. Perhaps it was something in her subconcious that had her walking in this direction, or perhaps she had just lost her mind. She had gone way too far from home, way too far from the perimiter she had provided for her and her brother, and had made too many trips out. Yet, here she was, many territories over and there was no way she would make it back to her brother by nightfall. She knew he'd worry about her, but there was something that kept her going in this direction. Maybe she wanted to see just how large this land was, but no matter how far she went she didn't seem to reach the other side. She'd have to turn back, and soon. This place certainly seemed to be the best place to turn herself around. The bog sank under her paws, mushy and thick, and the fog filled her lungs. With a sigh she turned in the direction she came, carnation eyes hard and determined as she moved to travel back to her brother, hoping to make it there before nightfall so he may not worry as much as he already was. Natalya had decided shortly after arriving to take some time to explore the lands around them. She chose to start with the lush land they had crossed through on their way here, the moore beyond the bridge. She had plans to check the islands Poe informed her were just off their coastlines, but those would have to come later with a companion. Swimming was not something she was particularly skilled at as a blind wolf. She and Helios had chosen their barren, lacking lands for a reason. They wanted their wolves to feel some hardship in finding food, they wanted them to grow stronger and more resilient. The pack had been weak when it was Olympus, but that would stand no longer. Natalya had to know, therefore, where food was accessible. This was sure to be the easiest place, especially as it was unlikely to be frequented by others. Caught between two packs and a ravine, it was unlikely rogues would fine their way there often. Of course, just as she was thinking this, she caught a strange scent ahead. Poe flew lower as she slowed down until he dropped on her shoulder to inform her that another wolf stood not far ahead of her. She approached slowly, but said nothing, curious if the other would show its intentions. "Burn Baby Burn" |

She had never seen such a place! Her home had been in a forest cornered by mountains with naught a swamp in sight. She was not used to walking upon this type of terrain, her paws sticking to the ground where they should be agile and smooth. She had places to go, her brother was waiting! Lips curled back as she continued to pull through the marshy lands, her breathing beginning to quicken with the workout. The thickness of the fog did not make matters any better, infact it probably aggrivated her even worse. "Anyone who would choose such a place as a home are ludicrous" She hissed to herself, carnation eyes glaring down at the ground. It wasn't like Ellasyn to get angry so fast, or to get angry at all, but it was her own foolishness that brought her this far from the safety of her home, and now this land didn't seem to want to allow her to go back, or at least not quickly. With an aggrivated sigh she stopped where she stood, pulling in quick breaths. It would be unsafe to get winded, so she would have to take a break, to keep her body in the topest of conditions. If she had to flee through this mush she would have to have every ounce of energy she had. Grey ears swivelled this way and that before she lifted her head, carnation eyes scanning the distance for any threat, any unnoticed company. When her hard gaze landed on the stranger in the near distance she nearly jolted. What was wrong with her today? Had she eaten some bad fish? It wasn't like her to be taken for surprise, and it wasn't like her to go against her own rules and her own plans. "Goodday," She called reguardless, figuring that if she could gain more information about this strange land in the midst of her senselessness, well it might have been worthwhile. "Burn Baby Burn" |

She listened as the female threw a small tantrum before finally noticing her and stopped when she was acknowledged. Her tail flicked softly behind her and she cocked her head slightly to the side as she considered her words. "I can't imagine that any wolf would like to actually live here, something I am quite grateful for. It's far too wet and dangerous." Poe cooed softly in approval as he picked at the feathers of his wings. He had expressed some distaste for the area when they had passed through, before he knew of the bird haven he was headed to. He could not disagree with how convenient it was as a barrier against other wolves, though. "You seem a bit frustrated. Have you gotten yourself lost here?" Nat couldn't imagine how a wolf could end up lost here of all places, unless it was someone from her pack or from Arcanum, the two packs bordering this land. The only other thing connected to it was the ravine, so there wasn't much space for others to come through without noticing they were in the wrong place. But, she did suppose that when the mind wandered, details such as those often went unnoticed. Perhaps this wolf was merely distracted. "Burn Baby Burn" |

She sighed softly once more, the tiniest of smiles tugging at her lips only at the way this wolf spoke. She didn't seem aggressive, just curious as to why Ellasyn was there. Maybe she had gotten herself a little too close to a packland, or maybe this really was a home and Ella had, indeed, trespassed. Noel's words of force claiming pulled at her thoughts and a wave of panic spread through her. Yet, that didn't seem to be the case, that this was a packland. "Thank goodness, I wouldn't believe anyone senseless enough to make this a home." Perhaps as a buffer it's defense was well and good, but not as a home. It was too dingy. It was a breeding place for bacteria, and she was certain anyone who stayed in the mushy earth for too long would come out with dead and decaying paws. She hummed lightly then, gaze flicking away from the woman and looking towards the distance, the way she had come. "Not so much lost...more that I went too far." She said softly, turning back towards the stranger. "I have made a temporary home in a shrine across a river in that direction. I fear I am too far gone to make it by nightfall, especially with nature refusing to allow me to leave this swamp." She said with a small, forced laugh, another soft sigh slipping from her chest. Her brother would be furious, and if not furious, certainly beyond worried. "Burn Baby Burn" |

A smirk played on her lips as the girl sighed and spoke her relief at finding no one lived here. Natalya doubted she would be so relaxed about being there if she knew the true danger that lurked there. Various predators, cougars among them, enjoyed the marshy land. For what reason, Nat couldn't fathom. It certainly would not be a comfortable resting place for a mammal on the ground, which made it a terrible home for any wolves. "You are correct that its unlikely you will make it back by nightfall," she responded matter-of-factly. "You would be lucky to clear both this land and the ravine by then. What caused you to travel so far into such unfamiliar territory, if you do not mind me asking?" Nat couldn't help her curiosity over the matter. She wanted to have some understanding of how the girl ended up here. She also wished to spend a bit more time talking to her, to judge her character. If she determined that she posed no risk, Nat may be willing to offer her a place to sleep for the night, but she would not risk her pack's safety without being sure. "Burn Baby Burn" |

Perhaps Ellasyn was cocky, perhaps she just knew her strength, or perhaps she was short-sighted by her mission. She cared very little about the predators here. All she wanted to do was go home, and no cougar or aligator would stop her from accomplishing that. And in all honest truth she was more scared of a pack and their ability to force claim. The power of a pack could keep her and her brother seperated and she did not want that to happen, which is why she had tried to avoid anything she believed to be a pack land up untill now. When the stranger confirmed she wouldn't get home before nightfall, she felt her heart sink. Her eyes closed for only a moment longer before she took a deep breath. "Great.." She murmured. Addy would not be please, no. She was bound to get an ear full, maybe the silent treatment. He was going to be rather upset with her, or perhaps terrified. She had never broken her own rules before, never went against her word. He was going to be mad. She lifted her head to look at her then, a sad smile on her lips. "I wished to know how far this land went. I have never been to a place so large, so expansive." She said softly, looking up at her. "Curiousity killed the cat, I suppose. I traveled too far, and now I'll have to pay for it." "Burn Baby Burn" |

Natalya nodded and chuckled in understanding. She had once been very curious about the size of the continent and had traveled over much of it to find a suitable home. Curiosity had gotten the best of her on more than on occasion. She had been trapped in storms, injured by the terrain, and caught in a worrisome situation with a wolf of questionable sanity. She was fortunate to have a companion at her side always to guide her and warn her of the dangers she could not smell, hear, feel, or cluck to know. "So you are new to this land, then?" she questioned with another tilt of the head. "I myself have not lived here long - not even two years yet if I am correct. Where have you come here from? Do you have any family with you? I am sure they would be concerned wit your absence for the night." She knew she might be asking too many questions, but she needed to gauge whether the girl was a threat by nightfall. Also, her situation reminded her much of her own, and that made Nat wonder more about her. "Burn Baby Burn" |
