Too big paws would flail in the air as Lian would awaken suddenly. The light from the sun would filter into the den right into his icy blue eyes, causing sleep to leave him. Grumbling he?d flip over, pushing his paws beneath him as he left the earth. Curious features would peak outside the den, his eyes searching his surroundings as he took in everything. It wasn?t often he was not being watched by one parent or another. They seemed so overbearing sometimes, so much so that he wished to scream and yell at them for keeping him so cooped up. He could handle himself, he could take anything that came at him no problem. Still his small form would refrain from crossing that threshold, he would not step out into the outside world quite yet. Would fear hold him back? No certainly not, but a slight nervousness of the consequences of his actions. Father had never gotten angry at him, but he?d heard him rage at the black bitch he seemed to keep as his own. Lian didn?t think he was allowed near her, Father seemed convinced she caused too much trouble. She didn?t much like him or the rest of their family. Obviously she felt the same overprotectiveness he did. A sigh would leave his snowy white lips as his haunches fell to the ground. The pale boy would peer out, invisibly restrained to where he stood. Ink tipped ears would swivel as he sought out the sounds beyond his den, his little nose would twitch as he took in the scents around him, and oddly his tail would thump pleasedly behind him as he became content to watch. Jian stretched herself out in the sunlight only a few feet away from the den, sighing contently as she enjoyed the warmth of the sun on her pale coat. There was a definite chill in the air and she knew it wouldn't be long before winter came and snow covered the ground again so she wanted to take advantage of the mild warmth as long as she could. Of course she wouldn't venture far from her children. They had become her whole world. They were gorgeous in their monochromatic colors, mirroring their parents with their color palettes. Lian shared her blue gaze while Zola had Lel's purple. They were perfect.

Her ears perked curiously as she heard a movement from the den, her eyes opening and head lifting from where it had been resting on her forepaws. A little smile touched her muzzle. Were one of her beauties awake? She pulled herself to her paws and padded over to the den, peering inside only to have her icy-blue gaze meet that of her son. She smiled wider, glancing behind her for just a moment to see if Lel or Calli were around and, not seeing either of them, she brought her eyes back to Lian. "Would you like to come outside, my little man?"

He wouldn?t realize yet what the chill in the air meant or that he should be taking advantage of the last of the warmer days. He would be a cold weather being through and through after the winter set in. His coat was already fluffed up to accommodate for the changing temperatures, and even if he wasn?t mentally prepared he?d be physically. Still, he?d barely left the den yet and would not so seriously contemplate the future quite yet. Ink tipped ears would swivel towards the sound of movement, his mother?s form quickly coming into view as she found him there at the entrance of the den. She had no reason to scold him, for he had not left the safety of their dreary hole in the ground. He?d see his mother?s smile and he wouldn?t be able to help but reciprocate it. The smile would pull up his little puppy lips as his tail knocked against the ground aggressively, "Please!" he?d say eagerly as his hind quarters were lifted from the ground in eager anticipation. He?d not gotten into the habit of disobeying his parents quite yet. ""

Uhhh, just a little more sleep. No one will miss me for a day, I won't be needed. The motions and noises from her brother only making her curl into herself more. But even worse, her mother came in and began talking, making it harder for her to go back into slumber. It only took her a moment, after hearing Lian's "Please" to realize that they were going out. Instantly, her neck would snap up and she would raise to her paws tripping and weaving as she tried to regain her balance after sleeping. "No! Wait for me!" She would plead. It may have been obvious, but being so young and in her own little mind she was terrified of the world. She didn't want to be alone in the den with no one around, a pool of lava could come out of no where and swallow her up! It was worth the effort to get up and follow her brother and mother wherever they may have been going. Even if it was just a few feet outside the den. Speech,

Jian chuckled both at Lian's excited reaction and Zola suddenly waking up and hurrying to join in. She smiled happily at her children before backing away from the den so they could get out, replying, "Come on, you two. But don't go too far! Make sure I can still see you." She settled down onto her haunches and waited for them to come out and explore, awake and alert to watch them both protectively. It seemed like just yesterday they were being born and here they were, ready to go out and take their first looks at the outside world. She was a proud mother, but at the same time she was sad that they were growing up so fast. She wished she could keep them with her in the den forever, protected from the outside world, but she knew she wouldn't be able to do that. They had to grow up sometime, they had to learn and experience things for themselves. She was just jaded by the hard turns her own life had taken. All she could do was protect them now while they were young and teach them everything she had learned.

Before he knew it the sound of Zola stirring would be at his ears, though he wouldn?t fully be aware of her presence until she was practically on top of him trying to escape the den. He?d bare his teeth at his sister before moving outside first, she had to be second. As soon as he?d crossed the threshold though his features would return to normal and he would dash to his mother?s side. He?d seen his father be affectionate with her, and he would follow the same example. He?d snuggle her shortly before dashing away from her to inspect the world around the den. Bright eyes would stare in wonder at the towering plants, the fall colors starting to fade as the last of the leaves would begin to drop. Soon a game would form within his head as he would leap from leaf to leaf, catching them as he leaped from the earth and flew around the clearing. He would leap all over, all the while still very much aware of where his mother?s eyes were. "Speech"

Zola would slide her hind legs a bit, backing away from Lian's threat. She was only scared, she wasn't trying to race him. What was his deal? She would follow close behind him, but far enough for his own space and would stand close to their mother as he rubbed up against her. It was a little odd, how much she trusting being around Lian. Sure he bared his teeth at her or threatened her with a growl a little too often, but maybe that's why she trusted him with her life out in the dangerous world. She would have given her mother a nice rub on the leg, but Lian had moved too fast and she was desperate to stick close to him. She was just as curious as he was, she was a pup after all. He would leap across the fall leaves, Zola tracing every paw step he took, not paying too much attention to where he was heading next, only where he had been. What if the ground around his step crumbled and he only knew exactly where to put his paws? (I totally thought of The Croods where grug is like "Step where I step" and every step he is like "Wait! Her children bounded out of the den with Lian leading the charge, her boy coming over to rub up against her first. She smiled and leaned down to give him a quick nuzzle before he went leaping around the clearing, pouncing the leaves that drifted down from the trees. Zola followed closely behind, reminding her a bit of how she had been with Lel after their mother had left the first time. She had been a momma's girl, but when Alena had disappeared she had turned her attentions toward her brother. He had been her motivation to escape when she had been taken, he was the reason she had come back here. Now he had blessed her with these two beauties and she could only smile as she watched them.

She settled down onto her stomach, her forepaws resting neatly over each other. "Be careful!" she called, chuckling to herself while she watched both of her children leap around and pounce on the leaves. The last thing she wanted was one of them to get hurt on her watch. She knew Lel would probably be irritated for letting them out without him there to look after them, but she knew they hated being cooped up. She was willing to take any of her brother's backlash if she got to lay here and watch them run around like this.

He wouldn?t notice as she settled down, but he would hear her gentle command. He knew he should be careful. What would father think if he hurt himself? He shoved those thoughts into the back of his mind as he leapt and grabbed at a particularly crunchy leaf, he?d stop suddenly as the many pieces would fill his mouth. The taste was rather unpleasant as he tried to spit the leaf particles from his mouth. He hadn?t noticed quite yet his sister following easily in his foot steps. Though she was rather focused on where Lian was, she would perk her ears and turn her head to their mother who gently demanded their safety. And as she took her eyes off her brother, she went crashing into his rear. Practically rolling over top of him, she would make a whimper to the fear she had gained in that moment. She felt like a boulder had come by and crushed her; or maybe she was the boulder, either way. Though Lian was probably going to be rather vicious when he got up, Zola would even give the thought a blink. But she was already shaking from her stir, not because she was scared of her brother.
