The lands had been growing cooler now, winter was most definitely on its way. Normally the change of the seasons didn't bother her too much at all though there was one rather key difference this year, her mate and parents were still not well at all and Novella wasn't sure how much longer she could contain her worries. Frith was easily fairing better than her parents, in fact in the past few days the pair of them, especially her father had only seemed to grow worse than ever. She had heard the news, taken it rather hard herself though her father was quite the mess now and that too pained her deeply.

Some sort of distraction would do the world of good. Whether for herself or the pack as a whole the Destruction couldn't be entirely certain though there really wasn't denying she wanted to take her mind off of all the negative happenings around her. If she could hide and have it all fade away she would though it wouldn't return life to normal and with the title of Author to her name she certainly couldn't attempt it. This was the next best thing.

A pack hunt. It would be a good experience for the children to learn from as well, whether they participated fully or not and so with a call sounding for healthy members of the pack she would wait for them to arrive.

Legend was not aware of how well his parents were doing. Or how bad they were doing to say the least. He had no idea of how bad this illness was they had carried. He knew it had been with them for long, but if only he had gone to see them recently he could have known.

He sat near the falls, though still a ways from his sister. And as he heard her call, he would realize how close it was and he would remain seated for a few more moments. No need to be eager. She didn't sound in shambles or anything.

Eventually he would come to his feet and walk has way around a corner or two until he met Novella's white figure. But his eyes narrowed as he noticed they were the only two there. He was expecting a few here, especially after waiting. But either way, he would make his way in front of his sister and take a seat.

"Expecting more?"

It was partially a joke and also not so much. It was odd to him that no one was here yet, but he would keep his sister company until then.

She had almost reached the age of a year, and she still hadn't decided what field she would want to excel in as an adult. She had not been exposed to healing or fighting and only a portion of hunting. She wanted to be important, not useless. Following her mother's call, she expected the Author to be holding another meeting. But prey was becoming more scarce in this growing winter season and she could only guess this was a pack hunt. Now was her chance and moment to really see if hunting is her skill. Hunts weren't only for the older wolves, were they?

"How may I assist?" She politely asked her mother before carefully seating herself down not far away. She gave a respectful nod to her uncle as a greeting. The pup had been successful with her recent Draft hunt and it would not hurt to try proper hunting. All she wanted to do was help and learn.

Aslan was certainly rather eager to learn. The large boy was already bigger than some of the adults so the reasoning that he was too small to do things could no longer be applied. If they could do it then he could certainly have a go! Besides, his mother was already acknowledging the fact that they had to start learning these things and therefore joining the pack on a hunt was a logical step for learning and improving their skills. Whether the Drafts were wanted or not, Aslan was there.

A little behind his sister, the chocolate boy would soon appear a small grin upon his features, eager and excited for this. There was really no stopping him now and from the small turnout so far it seemed his mother would certainly be needing a hand. He wouldn't speak this fact though, instead simply greet his family as he awaited for anyone else to appear. Truth be told though he didn't want to be left out he knew some more experienced wolves would certainly help the hunt. Both his mother and Féli had given them that knowledge, taught them that teamwork was good.

Sorrel was a strange case. He adored his immediate family, hated the idea of the odd occasions he lost them and yet could do without the other Destructions around him in Threar. They could still live of course, just why on earth did it have to be around him? It was too crowded, he wanted space and every time he thought he had it something had to prove him very wrong.

The last occasion of this had most certainly been the worst. Not only had he suddenly been torn away from the privacy of his own den, forced to share a space with not one or two wolves but the entire pack and a stubborn owl that still refused to leave him permanently. He'd gotten used to Ellingham somewhat now, would tolerate the company of the owl though he still and not so secretly had been fonder of the days he'd spent alone.

At this moment in time he would be sorting through the small collection of herbs that he and Ellingham had recently gathered, the owl was rather helpful for that, he could understand somewhat now his mother's attachment to Atlas, though the barn owl had of course been present all of Sorrel's life, was practically another member of the family whilst Ellingham was still very much a bit of an annoyance.

"That call is for you too Sorrel" The owl would rather irritatingly remind him. The boy had been hoping to avoid the summons and continue with the matter at hand. "You should go and see what it's about. I'll stay here and wait." Oh goody, yes he wanted the owl to wait for him. Couldn't Ellingham go instead and deal with the wolves, everyone else had warmed up to the bird far swifter than Sorrel himself, it was a wonder that he'd stuck around at all to keep the solitary wolf company.

Sorrel would begrudgingly obey the bird in the end, knowing that he wouldn't here the end of it if he avoided attending. Much to his chagrin however as he finally arrived at the meeting only his aunt, uncle and two of his cousins were present. Whilst he had formed a bond of sorts with Novel, the fellow healer helping him learn, the same could not be said for the rest of his cousins. Silently he would come to a stop, standing slightly away from the gathered group and await awkwardly for others to arrive.

Her brother would be the first one to appear and she would greet him as he did so. "Yes, I am Legend" She would responded with a soft smile of her own, taking the comment in the light manner he had intended it to be. She certainly expected them but whether they'd show or not was the big question, so far it was off to a somewhat slow start. Her parents were not expected to attend at the moment, their role not calling for it and their illness forbidding it. The same rule applied to Frith and Félicien as well at the moment, though they were coping better than the older pair and actually seeming to improve there was still no reasoning for them to force themselves to attend. If they showed, chances were she would send them back to their dens anyway.

Two of her children would show next, Aslan and Varda were certainly the more outgoing and eager of the three though it was still disappointing to see that Herne had not showed his face with them. When Sorrel showed up it was almost a sign that she should simply give up waiting. The boy was often the last to arrive to meetings and the such, creeping in at the back trying to go unnoticed. Where was the rest of her pack?

She would force herself to move on to the matter at hand now though, they would have to make do with the small number they had and put a lot of faith in Aslan and Varda to learn quickly. She had hoped for a bigger turn out to help the younger ones more, though this would simply have to do. "I called us together for a pack hunt." She would begin simply, keeping any negative thoughts about the poor turnout to herself though Legend had likely noticed that there should have been more wolves here than there actually were.

"We'll need to work together to track down our prey to begin with, though once we have found a herd, we'll split up into two teams. Varda, Sorrel and myself will work together to separate one deer from the others. It'll be one of the weaker targets, whether because of age, injury or illness." She would add that extra bit of information for the sake of her children. "As well as keeping the deer away from it's herd, we'll be guiding it towards Legend and Aslan, together we can then trap it, surrounding it to take it down. Be wary of their legs, they have a nasty kick and males will still have their antlers which will also hurt if they catch you with them." More advice for her children, hopefully there would be no injuries for any of them.

"Hm," the sound of a single chuckle in his throat let to his sister's answer and grin. He would look down to Varda as the smaller girl arrived eager to help. He gave her a nod in return, eyeing her a little longer with the same grin as when he got here. His gaze turned to Novella once again but was interrupted by the next to arrive.

Eyes moved to Aslan, and soon to Sorrel who was a distance away. But Novella would begin talking again and so Legend moved his attention back to her once again.

She spoke of going on a hunt together, and just as she though Legend was thinking of the small group they had for this. He put it to the back of his mind knowing that it wasn't impossible, and he wasn't really one to let the downside take over. He looked to the younger ones to see if they had even more eager faces that they were going on a hunt together, ears listening to the plan as well.

He and Aslan were to help surround the deer and take it down. Eyes to Aslan and then Novella before standing and waiting for further instructions. Maybe the younger one's may need a little more advice before heading off, but they did seem old enough to know all that maybe. At least Novella told them to steer clear of puncturing themselves.

"Guess it's you and me." He would say with head turned to Aslan and a grin.

It wasn't much of a hunt if half of Threar hadn't showed up. Her eyes searched through the bodies for Herne, who had not arrived. Was that all? Were six wolves able to cope with such a hunt?

The girl listened intently as her mother explained the process of pack hunts. It was different from her previous Draft hunt, but she understood this was a larger and more difficult task. She slowly approached her mother, as if to gather in their smaller team. She flashed a glance to Aslan, who had unfortunately been paired with Legend. She rubbed those thoughts from her head and concentrated on the hunt. Her mind was blank. She understood the plan but the fear of messing up along the way haunted her emotions. Steering a weak deer away from a herd seemed the most risky, serious yet important part of a hunt. There was so much responsibility and caution, was there even time for mistakes? However, on the other hand, she wanted to contribute towards the hunt instead of being useless.

This would be it? There wasn't many of them and though Aslan wouldn't say the thought out loud he couldn't help but feel any faith placed in himself and Varda was a little premature, they hadn't done this before after all to suddenly go charging off in a group to hunt something was surely not going to be quite as easy as his mother made it sound.

He wouldn't question her methods however and instead would simply listen, absorbing whatever information he could that might help with this task and taking in the game plan as best as he could. It would all become clearer he was sure, though his certainly hoped that his mother, uncle and cousin would be able to make up for his and Varda's complete lack of experience.

"I guess so." The tall boy responded mismatched eyes looking to his uncle with a small grin of his own. Oh well, they could only try their best.

Sorrel had mixed emotions about all of this. Not about whether they would be successful or not, honestly he didn't care overly much about that. It was far more selfish thoughts bothering him in regards to the size of the group. The small size was definitely good in some ways, he wouldn't be too crowded however there were certainly huge negatives about all of this as well. Given it was such a small group and that they were accompanied by his inexperienced younger cousins, he would certainly be expected to pull his weight, become a decent example rather then meld into the background and try remain unnoticed. Worse still was the fact that his siblings and parents weren't here for him as well. At least he would be with his aunt rather than his uncle who he knew even less.

He would remain silent as details were given, no questions from him, at least not any he didn't already know the answer to anyway. Could he just leave them to it? That would be a no.

There was certainly far more that could be told to the children and surely both Aslan and Varda would find themselves with plenty of questions. She would try her best to answer them in a simple manner for them, and hopefully once they separated Legend would be able to take care of anything that might have been on her son's mind. For now they were all silenced though, stunned perhaps given the shock that they would be hunting today though she would have faith in them both to do their best. Sorrel of course was as silent as ever as well and with her brother having little else to add it seemed it was time for it all to start. First step, as she'd already pointed out to them, was to find the herd.

"Right then, lets get started." She commented simply, a smile of good faith and a confident tone to her voice to encourage them, the younger three of course more than her brother. Purposefully she would hang back and try to allow them to find the herd themselves, hopefully Legend too would get the hint and allow them to try for themselves.

As Novella would announce it was time, Legend would look to her and see that she wanted the little one's to learn for themselves. So he would eye the rest of them, and then take a few steps forward to get them started.

"Alright then!"

He would speak enthusiastically being prepared himself. He would look behind him at the other's, his eyes almost mentioning to lead the way. He wouldn't pick up any pace until he knew that they were all ready and started to trek as well. He could tell this would be amusing, but in every way fun. Hopefully everyone would see that in the end.

Her mother had commenced the hunt, although she didn't do much towards the task. She presumed Novella wanted the younger members to contribute the most towards the hunt. And by younger members, that meant Aslan, Sorrel and herself. With no doubt she had to learn, but with two inexperienced pups to manage the hunt...could she do this? It seemed so difficult. Her uncle gave them a lively start as he beckoned them to begin their trek. She managed to lighten her mood with a smile, glancing at her cousin. She expected the boy to have experience in hunting, which was why she tried to make herself as useful as possible. "I believe we should find a herd."

So that was it, time to begin. He initially expected his mother and uncle to start them off, lead the way and yet both would hang back and it quickly registered within his mind that they weren't going to do all of the work. This was just like those practices he told himself, all the other times they'd had to track down their food only this time it was a little bigger than a rabbit. Varda would suggest they tried to find the herd. It was perhaps a given really, they couldn't hunt if they didn't know where a deer was. He wouldn't word it that way though and simply give a nod of his head as he began to set off, nose searching for the scent. That too was different of course, only adding to the challenge.

No one else would appear to save him it seemed and so he was stuck being as helpful as he could. There wasn't a lot to be said and with nothing to delay things starting, Novella would encourage them to begin. So she wasn't going to find the herd for them? He'd sort of hoped that'd be the case, that they could simply follow and do as they were told. He didn't want to be at the forepoint of anything and now those little cousins were looking at him. Alright so they weren't really little Aslan was already taller than him and Varda not far off, actually, for that reason what did they really need his help for? Fortunately Aslan would begin to search rather than try leave it all to him and Sorrel would follow behind them sniffing here and there though a little half-hearted in his actions to be entirely honest.

There was a slight hesitation from the younger wolves, more so from Sorrel perhaps than Aslan or Varda but the three would soon move into action. Legend had fortunately picked up upon her wish to see how they coped. Though they certainly hadn't tracked a herd before, Novella had faith in them, her two at least seemed to be rather quick at learning after all and even though Sorrel barely demonstrated his skills, opting for solitude for most of the time, she was convinced a bright mind was being hidden with him. Silently she would watch as she followed behind the little group, her own senses remained alert as well, just in case they missed something though she wouldn't say anything just yet. They were on the right tracks so far.
