The ground groaned and Skadi stilled, gazing flicking downward as she stared inquisitively at the earth. It gave another rumble, the sound reminiscent of a complaining stomach. Her ears flicked, whiskers twitching as she crept closer to investigate. The closer she got to the sound, the warmer the ground got and the softer the snow became. Up ahead the ground was smoking, the source of the noise hidden beneath the swirling vapor. Suddenly the ground exploded, sending dirt, steam and boiling water rocketing into the air. Instinctively Skadi crouched, her ears flattening and her hackles rising as she prepared to defend herself against whatever monster rose out of the abyss. Her eyes grew wide, pupils dilating as adrenaline flooded her veins. She was ready, prepared to do battle and shed blood. Long seconds passed and nothing came of the earth's threats. Mist and dirt began to rain down upon the tense huntress, but she remained still and watchful. It wasn't until the geyser calmed somewhat that she eased up. Huh. What kind of sorcery was that?
