Dhiren Destruction had been protective of every female in his inner circle. His desire to keep Novel safe from the outside world was enough to drive anyone insane. Thankfully, he had Ara there to ensure that she wasn't alone. Then, there was Guinevere... Temporarily, she had been pushed out of his circle, only because he was hurt and lacked the trust that had slowly been building. That didn't mean he didn't care about her anymore.
As the young man was distracted by her, Song had picked up the reins that he had let slack. He was grateful for his mother and when she realized that he needed a break from the pressure of becoming more and more of a ruler. So Song carried on, letting the mirror image of Cherokee deal with his thoughts. While he did that, Dhiren remained obsessively protective over Guinevere. She had been moved from the den after a few days of rest and recovery. He had been there, along with a few other wolves of Sawtooth, to move her and the baby to a safer location.
Their new occupied den was close to Dhiren's, set off in the forest near the Springs. The location had a large clearing in the middle of the woods, showing five dens that were set in a semi-circle for the moon-shaped structure. Dhiren's den was in the middle, but he could still see her if he sat at the front of his entrance. With that comfort in mind, he could stay as far as he wanted and still know she was safe.
One particular afternoon, the rain decided to come down. It soaked everything and made the atmosphere dreary. All of the summer colors were washed out and Dhiren took that time to eat a tender piece of deer meat. He had torn the large leg off of one of the bucks that had been caught in a recent hunt, eager to enjoy a few bites of the succulent prey. After a bite or two, he realized that he couldn't enjoy it without feeling guilty. His gaze moved to the scenery outside his den, and saw the sleeping form of Guinevere amidst the blurry rain. A sigh escaped his lips and he raised himself from the ground before taking the leg into his mouth. He broke the rain with his black form and padded towards Guinevere's den.
Upon reaching the mouth of her home, he saw that she was still sleeping. The babe beside her snuggled tightly against her stomach, sleep still overpowering her small frame. Dhiren's heart beat stronger for the infant, but the memory of realizing how she had come to be prevented him from showing any affection. Slowly, he lowered the leg at the entrance of the den, close to Guinevere's resting head. Tears hidden by the rain ran into his cheeks' fur before he pulled back to retreat to his den. It was like this every time he got near her: he couldn't speak or look at her without getting angry. Maybe this was how it was going to be for the rest of his days, he didn't know...

The day was as dreary as Guinevere?s thoughts as she lay silently with her new daughter. The reality would still destroy her as she tried to make sense of how she?d lost a whole pregnancy to time. She could hardly bring herself to come out of the new den she?d been placed in. When the dark Destruction had come to move her she had almost protested, but any kind of disagreement within her had died. She was complacent and willing to do whatever was asked of her, somehow they had kept her within the packs borders. How long would he let her stay? She thought about what Dhiren must be going through a lot, but she?d made no attempts at talking ot him. She didn?t deserve him or his help. Still, even though Charmiene was not his own he had been there to help her through the rough birth.
She didn?t know what to think, so she would keep quiet and stay curled around her newborn until the future revealed itself to her. These thoughts would swirl about her mind as she lay in the den, her small child sleeping quietly through the rain. With her eyes closed her rest would be mistaken for sleep, but she would not consciously correct Dhiren. He would approach, the faint sound of wet paws on the earth would alert her to his presence, but she would not stir. She knew he was as uncomfortable around her as she was of him. The scent of a fresh meal would make her stir however, and as the boy returned to his den across the half moon she would push herself from the ground and sniff at the leg. Bright yellow eyes would glance up towards him for only a moment before a tear would begin to fill them. Quickly she?d avert her gaze from him and back to the meal he?d provided for her.
They hadn?t spoken a word, and yet he was there for every moment of her journey through the sudden parenthood. He saw her through birth and would feed her every day after. The care he had for her was very much there, but he would always retreat when he drew near. Her russet ears would fall against her skull as she took in the nourishing meal, heartache plainly written on her features. She was so confused and lost, only having Charmiene to talk to and sort out everything that had happened to her.

Even as he moved in the rain, he could hear Guinevere as her head rose from the ground. He stopped, paws becoming covered with more mud and rain as he listened to her quietly eat her dinner. Black and white ears flattened against his skull as he turned his cranium to look at her through the heavy curtains of water. With his fur sticking to his body, he looked like a large, wet rat in the continuing storm. Silver and gold eyes resembled lanterns of the lost soul within the Destruction man, but he didn't voice any concerns to the hungry female.
Slowly, he walked back towards her den and entered without receiving an invitation. He made water fall in random spots of her warm home as he looked down at her, feelings threatening to rise to the surface of his weak fa?ade. Despite being wet, he lowered his head to hers and rubbed his right cheek against hers. Eyes closed and he softly snorted as he made the contact with the most recent wolf to steal his heart. If she reciprocated, he wouldn't hesitate to accept her warmth and the effects that came with it. His heart silently broke as he continued to rub his cheek against hers, hoping that she would realize that despite being silent since her return, he couldn't stay away.

Dhiren wouldn?t get himself out of the rain as she let her yellow eyes fall upon his silent form, still she couldn?t let her eyes linger on him for very long. She?d hear him turn, his large form creating streams of water that would flow over his dark fur. Bright gaze would not rest on him as he entered the den, she?d try to keep her eyes on the sleeping form by her side. She didn?t know what to say to him, didn?t even think she could say anything even though she wanted to thank him. For everything he?d done for her. Though as the affectionate touch would be felt on her cheek she couldn?t stifle a surprised gasp. She wouldn?t be able to help herself and the affectionate touch would be reciprocated.
Guinevere hadn?t realized how much she missed his touch until he was there beside her once again. Her heart felt like it was being ripped in two as she thought tears might erupt in her eyes. She?d bite back the tears as she leaned into his soft touch, unable to do much but nuzzle him like it was the last time she?d touch him. She hated so much that something like that had happened, so many emotions had built up she hardly knew what to think.

She would gasp, making his ears twitch from the sound. His eyes didn't open, but only tightened as he tried not to let the brimming tears fall into his already soaked fur. Instead, he continued to push his face further against hers, wanting more than anything to take her in his arms and keep her safe. His cheek rested against hers until he moved his nose into her neck fur. So warm, soft, and smelled like baby's milk - a scent he would get used to, no questions asked.
He was fully in the den, out of the rain and in Guinevere's personal space. With how she reacted, it was obvious she didn't mind him being there. Dhiren stood sideways, his head still resting against Guinevere's in an awkward stance. Slowly, he pulled back and moved to the cheek that was still dry. He moved into her, low grumble slipping from his closed lips. A sigh shortly followed, low and brusque, as he said, "Ohhhh, Guin." The words were sad, but still held an emotion that was hard to detect by anyone else.
Large paws flexed their claws into the ground as he stood perpendicular to Guin's body, body protecting the sleeping pup from the outside weather. However, a breeze from the storm went by the entrance and caused the dripping water from Dhiren's body to rise and fall upon the baby's sleeping form. She began to stir, whimpering as a result from being exposed to the cold rain. Slowly, he pulled from Guinevere and ran a warm, pink tongue across the girl's tiny body. She accepted his touch and stopped fussing before curling up into Guin's warm body fur. A small smile played on his lips before he pulled back, eyes watching her as she fell back to sleep. His eyes didn't look at Guinevere right away, but instead noticed her from their peripheral vision. "What's her name?" he softly asked.

She was astonished at Dhiren?s touch, but at the same time so thankful for the contact. She felt so alienated and alone since Charmiene?s birth, nothing was right anymore. Except this. Nothing had felt so perfect as the Destruction boy?s tender touch. She?d feel him push his features into her neck and she would do the same, nuzzling him deeply as she reveled in his contact. He?d sigh and utter her name, she couldn?t quite grasp all the emotion help within but it was no doubt she held many of those same emotions. ?Dhiren?? she?d trail off softly.
She didn?t want to spoil this with words, she knew what ever she had to say would not help their situation any, and she just needed to figure things out on her own. Still frustrated with the events she would push away her negative thoughts and focus on Dhiren. He?d moved above her daughter after she was introduced to the cold water. Before she could even attend to her she?d watch his pink tongue remove the water and simultaneously warm her. Guinevere felt a smile come to her lips, a small smile of hope and love. Maybe things could get better.
He?d watch the girl, all the while a smile playing on his features. The russet marked girl wondered if maybe he felt the same powerful feeling of devotion towards the babe that she did. ?Her name is Charmeine.? the words were barely more than a whisper as she glanced to Dhiren?s gaze.

Words were slowly coming to the young man, even if he didn't verbalize them all at once. The actions he made were enough for the moment and that was what he would stick with. The babe had begun to slip back into her coma-like sleep and when Guinevere revealed her name, he couldn't help but repeat it on his own lips. "Charmeine..." Immediately, a soft smile appeared on his dark features. Who knew that one word could make his face light up?
His gaze remained on the pup until he felt Guin's lantern-like eyes watching him. He moved his silver and gold eyes from the babe to hers and he softly sighed. "Sh-she is a pr-pretty little thing." Words had caught in his throat as he tried to say them all, but he had goofed and was left with the slight stutter. His ears flattened in slight embarrassment, but after a few seconds, he let it go. Dhiren slowly looked over Guinevere's face, emotions welling up inside of him. "Guin, I...." his words faded once more, becoming lost to him in the storm outside of her den. He sighed again, shaking his head and hanging it with eyes closing. "I don't know what to do anymore..."

Charmeine?s name upon Dhiren?s lips was sweeter than she ever could have imagined and she would have given anything to make Dhiren her biological father. He didn?t deserve how she?d treated him, and she didn?t deserve how he was treating her now. By all rights she should have been pushed away to fend for herself. She couldn?t help but notice his soft smile as he gazed at the innocent girl, and she would be forever in his debt. All at once though he?d bring his attention back to her, and she knew that they would have to exchange words. She didn?t know what to say though, she hardly even knew what had happened to her during her pregnancy. Would he even believe her when he said that she knew not how this had happened? That she was an unwilling participant in parenthood? Maybe she would never tell him, whatever he would assume was better than the truth she was sure.
He?d compliment the child, it was very much obvious that she would be gorgeous as she grew. Guinevere felt such a fear at what such a fact would cause, she never wanted her child to grow up to face the awful truths of the world. His attention would finally stray from her tiny daughter, stating with trouble he knew not what to do. She didn?t have any idea either to be honest. She just wanted to make it through the day. "I don?t either Dhiren, I?m just trying to take things a day at a time." She?d look away from him again and back to the small pup, just as much at a loss as he.
