Day had slowly, almost painstakingly, given way to night, and the grey Guardian had to reign in his impatience. There was one more event that he wanted the pack to participate in, one more activity that he hoped might further provoke feelings of camaraderie and friendship among the pack members, and after the success of the first he was eager to see the next get underway. Only it was one that he decided needed the cover of the shadowy night, without the light of day to aid those who participated. He wanted them to test their senses as they played, an added challenge to their game. Tag, otherwise, was simply far too easy.

Restlessly he paced the edges of the prairie though rather than his frosty blue gaze being drawn outward to potential threats and curiosities beyond their borders his attention was focused inward, toward the center of the Algoma Prairie. Did they know yet? Were there others already keeping a listening ear out for his call to bring the participants forward to initiate the game? A part of him hoped so, though surprising them all with it would have been just as satisfying. He glanced skyward, the dark sky speckled with stars and offered only partial moonlight from an incomplete moon. Without anyone to see him, he grinned. Yes, these conditions would do very nicely.

Deciding enough time had passed and that night was well underway for their game to begin, Rune turned and padded at a trot through the grasses, head and tail high as he continued scanning about for the others he supposed were lurking. To draw them out, he lifted his muzzle and released a howl, calling them forward as he finally drew to his desired location within the center of the Prairie and stopped to wait for them.

OOC: This is our Moonlight Tag game for the finale of the Spring Festival! Please assume, of course, that it's still spring. xD I'm back-dating this a little bit. Anyway, the game will go like this: everyone who wishes to participate will need to come forward now before Feb. 23rd and "sign up" to play by replying to this thread. From those participants, one will be chosen at random to begin the game and will be deemed "it." That participant will then need to target one of the other participants and tag them in their post, so then that targeted participant becomes "it." (This means that you'll need to keep an eye out to see if you've been tagged, otherwise it stalls the game!) The game will continue in this manner until Rune either calls time or the thread goes without a response for a full seven days. And there will be no single winner; everyone one will win because everyone gets to have fun, yay!

Being admittedly of the lazy sort, nighttime for Eirik meant rest time, but rather than retreat all the way back to his den in the heart of the Fern Gulley he had chosen instead to shelter at the upper edge of it that bordered the Prairie. His den would have been nicer, by far, but something was up. He assumed so anyway, not only because Secretua's festival was still in full swing but because his father had yet to retire to his own den despite the lateness of the hour. No, Eirik could not see him from where he lay but he knew he was out there still, pacing the border and just biding his time. For what the rosy-eyed wolf had yet to determine.

The longer he waited, though, the worse his own drowsiness became. If he just rolled over slightly, allowed himself to relax a little more, he was sure he could fall asleep there. If he just got a little more comfortable, closed his eyes even... Just like that. In the quiet, he began to doze, not even bothered anymore that he was nowhere near his den, content enough to make the most of this.

Only to be startled back into full consciousness by his father's howl. Eirik visibly jumped as he quickly rolled onto his stomach, getting his black paws beneath his large, burly frame, and with fumbling motions he stood. It took him a few seconds more to fully come around, but by then he was already moving, directed toward his father in the middle of the Prairie before he even knew it. Well, good thing he wanted to go this way anyway. His jaws parted in a long, wide yawn as he strolled toward his father, offering a goofy sort of half smile as he slowed and stopped. What were they going to be doing at this hour? Eirik hoped he would wake up enough soon to participate fully.

Coming in from the side opposite of Eirik, Warja got a good look at his sleepy, yawning face. Well, that wouldn't do. Immediately she sank into the tall grass of the prairie. For several beats she was still as she searched for signs that she'd been seen. Once she was sure no one was looking at her she slunk off, seeking to make a wide circle around her brother and father. From there, with mischievous intent, she sought to sneak up behind the sleepyhead.

3...2...1... Abandoning stealth, Warja was off like a shot. She aimed to run right up behind Eirik and once he was within reach, launch herself onto his back all the while shrieking, "Eiiiirik wake uuuuup," because behaving like a grown up all the time was mind numbingly boring.

Rune waited, his icy blue eyes scanning about in expectation of seeing his packmates materialize into being around him within the tall grasses of the Prairie as they wandered into sight for the final activity of their festival. He was eager to see it started, even if it meant their festivities were coming to an end, and squashed his impatience with a clearing of his throat. Any minute now they would start to show up. Any minute now...

To his surprise, it was his typically tardy son who arrived first, looking more as if he had wandered over in his sleep than been fully consciously aware of what he was doing. Through the darkness Rune's gaze was somewhat incredulous, but he said nothing to the bulky kid, only let his gaze wander about in search of the next wolf who was going to arrive to join them. It was quiet there for a bit, hiding the fact that someone stalked closer, and it took Warja's leap and teasing cry to let them know that she was there. She had very obviously startled her brother, a fact which had nearly gotten a laugh out of the Guardian, but Rune could only manage to shake his head. And he had been the one to appoint this little rascal as the pack's Healer.

He let them be for a moment, quietly awaiting others, but soon enough it became obvious no one else was joining them. There was no doubt disappointment as Rune glanced around without seeing another pack member on their way to join them, but he was not by any circumstances going to send up another call. If they were not interested, then he would not bother them with it.

"Looks like you two might be it," he stated matter-of-factly as he trained his blue eyes upon his son and then his daughter. "That is, if you'd still like to participate. I was going to host a game of tag at this hour to make it challenging. Although maybe it's too late for that." A pointed look was directed over at Eirik as he spoke the last words, half expecting his son to let loose another yawn just from the manner in which he had arrived. Though perhaps Warja had done the trick in waking him up fully as she had intended. Unsure what each of them would prefer, Rune merely glanced from one to the other.
