He'd been rather reluctant at first to leave his sick wife and new children all alone, but the knowledge taht Legend and Feli, along with his older children, were there to look after her made him more confident and he had left the borders of Threar. He wasn't really sure the last time he had left, possibly the flood? Either way as he crossed over the threshold he'd feel a bit more weary about the sights and sounds around him. How did he ever allow his children to leave the pack while unattended? Just walking in rogue lands himself brought a bit of a nervousness in the pit of his stomach. He wasn't usually a worrier, but knowing he'd left his family behind unguarded by himself had him riled up.

He needed to get out though, he knew nothing of the other packs around him and that made him even more nervous than leaving his babies. There were so many packs he didn't know where he stood with hardly any of them. He'd really set off in an indiscriminate direction, finding he didn't have to travel too far into the south to catch a pack scent. Dark paws would bring him curiously to the border. He was kind of stuck now, he'd never actually called for anyone at their borders. Even when he'd joined Threar he'd come right into the pack.

Taking a deep breath Frith would allow a howl to ring out as he sat back on his haunches. He'd finish the summons and realize he wasn't even sure what he was going to say.

Two new children. Rune could hardly believe he was a father again. There was something different to it this time around, something that made him even more protective and curious of the youngsters. Likely it was merely experience. With his first litter, the young father had not the slightest clue what he was doing or what he should expect, and really had had no one that he could turn to for advice. He and his tiny mate had wandered into the uncharted grounds of parenthood with only each other to lean on, and somehow they had managed to raise those first three miracles all the way into adulthood. Now, with this second litter, he felt more prepared, more ready, and at the same time more nervous for all he now knew.

Alamea was recovering from the ordeal of their birth, and for as long as he could he had lingered there at her side. She had done beautifully, just as she had with their first litter, and it delighted him to no end to see her with a new set of newborns resting there at her belly. But the longer he stayed the less time he knew he was offering his children the opportunity of seeing their new baby sister and brother - the latter of which had sent Eirik off in some childish parade about no longer being the only boy in their family. He needed to give them all a moment to get acquainted, needed to get out and stretch his own legs, and decided to set off on a quick hunt to find something for his beautiful little mate.

Naturally he stuck close, scrounging through the Fern Gulley where they made their den and hoping that fate would be kind to him and end his hunt soon. But it was not a hare or any other small meal that he found. He was interrupted in his search by a howl from the pack's borders, and instinctively he bristled. He was never truly one for company, and with newborns hidden away inside of his home he was extra guarded. But, as alpha, it was his responsibility to answer such calls, and with a grumpy huff the pale grey Guardian set his dark paws to carrying him up and out of the Gulley and toward the pack's border.

He was wearing his natural scowl by the time he wandered out of the thick vegetation that hid his family from prying eyes, holding himself with the air and authority of his status. The wolf he found was of moderate height, had an unassuming earthy brown coat, but the markings around his mismatched eyes were unusual and oddly defined. This was no wolf that he could recognize or place with any others that he knew, his scent as unrecognizable as he was. Rune padded over to the individual and watched him with a cautious, skeptical glint in his eye, trying not to seem outwardly threatening but still keeping his head positioned defensively as a precaution when he stopped across from him, placing himself between this stranger and Secretua. "What business do you have here?" he questioned, his gruff voice blunt and slightly more harsh than necessary. Never one for pleasantries, he wasted no time on introductions and got right to asking the questions that he wanted answered.

Frith need not wait for long, though he still caught himself staring uselessly at the little plants and bugs that seemed to flourish here. It seemed as similar to paradise as his own home by the waterfall. He wouldn't dwell however as the wolf, he assumed by stature and posture, was the alpha he had summoned. Frith would adorn a more serious grin, not feeling threatened by how defensive the other brute was acting. He knew they feeling thought. The scent of newborns was strong on him, as he imagined the same kind of scent lingered on his own pelt. Another new father. He had much reason to feel defensive. "I come in peace," The chocolate wolf would nod his head in greeting as well as seat himself. "Frith Destruction, I rule the Eastern pack Threar with my wife Novella. I only wish to know our standings with each other." He didn't seek alliances today, though knowing they were at least peaceful would settle his nerves. Thankfully the one who'd greeted him gotten right to the point.

Despite a not so friendly and welcoming greeting, the visitor did not appear entirely off put by Rune's behavior. He smiled in a kindly manner, never once moving in anyway to give any suggestion that he was offended, defensive himself, or aggressive to the one who lived here. And he was careful right off the bat to make it clear he intended no harm in being here. They were good signs for Rune, though his natural distrust of those he was unfamiliar with was hard to shake. Even as the stranger addressed him, quickly offering his name and status from where he came from, Rune continued to inspect him, taking in more of his scent now that he was nearer. Still a stranger, but at least now the Guardian had a name to attach along with the smell. Threar. How far into the east were they located?

The information the brown wolf provided circled back around in Rune's mind as he questioned the pack's relation with one another, and as they did one little note in particular resonated with him. Destruction? Did he not have a Destruction in his ranks presently, the quiet little Hunter that Eirik had vouched for? She too, he had learned, had come from the east, though as he looked at this man he could see no resemblance between the two. Could it be there was more than one family with the name?

He was curious to know whether the young girl Secretua had taken in was any relation to these wolves who were from Threar, but as a precaution the Guardian did not see it fit to bring up. He knew nothing of these wolves of the east, of their customs or ways, and was wary of trusting them with any information about his pack. Particularly if one of his members had originated there and potentially left them for good reason. "That depends, doesn't it?" Rune questioned, his skepticism clear within his voice and within his look. "What kind of pack is Threar? My name is Rune Kaname, Guardian of Secretua, and I've yet to hear anything of this pack of yours."

Had Rune disclosed the name of the girl that took up residence in his pack Frith would not have been able to help place her. He didn't really remember any of Song's children, especially one as reclusive as Saga would have been when he arrived in Threar himself. Not that he had any plans to threaten her presence here even if he had known who she was. Rune didn't seem to relax much as Frith gave him an answer, but there was no change for the worst either so the Destruction by marriage continued to hold his easy form. Though the man seemed skeptic as he questioned him but Frith still could not blame him, surely he would have offered the same kind of air.

The dark wolf took in the information that was given, this was Secretua led by this man, Rune. Frith would nod in acceptance of the title and to give him the information of his pack. "We are a small family pack," it wasn't much surprise that this man had yet to hear of them. "For the most part we keep to ourselves, though we offer any help we can to those in need. The goal is a safe haven for my family and those who wish to join us." He'd offer, hoping the other wolf might offer the same information or questions that might have popped into the other's mind.

His remarks about this pack called Threar prompted the other chocolate colored wolf into explaining about his home, and Rune was slightly surprised to realize as his visitor went on that the description he provided sounded awfully familiar. A family pack, mostly charged with keeping to themselves and offering a safe haven to them and their own. He might not have described Secretua in those exact words, but it was similar to what the Guardian saw and wanted for his pack. His borders might have been a bit more strict than Threar's, who sounded more willing to accept those from outside their circle, but the basis was the same. They were not a militia focused on domination or chaos. They simply wanted peace for themselves.

"Your pack's wants follow a close path to Secretua's," the grey wolf answered, his low voice finally beginning to lose some of its gruffness now that he knew this wolf and his pack were of no threat. "Safety and stability are what we strive for, as well as self-sustainability. We're independent and want to keep it that way." No way was he going to risk the safety of his family simply to keep alliances that could easily fall through at the first inconvenience. Those that followed him meant far too much to him to allow anything like that to happen. "If you speak truth, we're on neutral footing. Secretua's not one to start fights," Rune stated, trusting that he spoke for the whole of his pack. They were a little rambunctious, true, but none of his wolves were instigators trying to bring trouble to their family.

He fell silent for a moment, considering the impending trips he wished to make, and added, "How far to the east is Threar? I'm making plans to visit my neighbors in the coming months, and if you'd allow it I'd like to add your pack to my list." It would leave two packs that he was first aware of that he would visit, this one and the one that had been recently formed just south of Secretua. It was a meager start on his mission to become more informed of the packs around him, but it was better than starting with nothing.

Frith found himself smiling as the man explained his own pack's similarity to Threar, and the chocolate wolf would not miss the lessening of the seriousness that had lingered in the voice. It was actually almost surprising to hear how similar their packs were at the core. Rune went on to say how they would be on neutral footing, it seemed like neither pack had any desire to start a fight. They just wanted to be safe and be left alone. Frith had to nod at these statements, as he agreed with the other man's views almost perfectly. "I can offer you the same, Alpha Rune." He wouldn't expect the next words but Frith was ready to welcome this alpha into his home with open arms. "We are closer to the ocean, settled nicely between Abaven and Fiori." He'd offer, "I would certainly enjoy a visit from you."

Despite his general disinterest and aversion to politics, Rune felt his impromptu meeting with the Alpha of Threar was going rather well and felt more or less relieved by the meeting. He had grown to believe many of the leaders incompetent and self-serving rather than serving those under their care, but here seemed to be another group that placed value on their members and looked to them like family. Of course, the competence of Frith had yet to be tested, but Rune was also not one to go out of his way to test the leaders around him. As he saw it, the world would work that out on its own; his only concern was to his own pack and none other.

Thankfully for his future plans, the chocolate colored leader agreed to eventual future meeting and offered a more precise location for his pack of Threar. The grey Guardian logged away the information that he had gathered in their meeting, this Threar pack, it's location, the names of its neighbors in the east, and what he had been able to gather about their leader. He nodded sternly but appreciatively for what Frith had been willing to tell him, and found himself even looking forward to that eventual visit he would be paying this pack in the future.

"As will I," he admitted a little more willingly than he perhaps had otherwise been participating in their conversation. "I hope to set off on these trips fairly soon, so perhaps within the next season or so you can expect me." It was a bit of a stretch since he was still stuck in that protective parent role that came with having newborns in the den, but he knew eventually he was going to have to trust the pack to look after those new lives in order to keep working toward bettering Secretua as a whole. And hopefully those family members immediately effected by any absence that he took would understand and not hold it against him.
