Though she had prepared herself, it had still taken time to finally take those steps officially into the Northern Continent. How many times had she wandered back and forth across the Bifröst as though the Otito Iya would suddenly make everything alright? She hated to admit it but more and more the girl feared that the Goddess had given up on the world, or at least upon Aláwo herself, otherwise why else would her life had taken so many bad turns? Separated from her family and then from the tribe as well. This would probably be a fruitless search but apparently she would try.

The land itself, it had been a difficult terrain to scale though there was still beauty evident, the Goddess must have taken care in all parts of her creation. In this moment there was no obvious signs of the destruction the Northern wolves caused, though Aláwo suspected she would discover it and more of their terrible nature somewhere down the line. She intended to keep out of their way though, perhaps that was the real reason it had taken so long to finally take this journey, fearful she would meet yet another Northerner on the Bifröst. The path for now was clear and warily Aláwo would continue upon it.

The brute moved with painstaking care down the steep slope. What had started out as cat-like curiosity had quickly gotten him in trouble. The soil at the top was loose and rocky, and he'd made the mistake of overestimating how nimble he was. While walking the rim he'd found himself sliding. Thankfully he knew better than to try to fight it. Instead he'd walked with the sliding grit, going with the flow until the trunk of a tree was within jumping distance. He was quick to lean against the trunk and halt his descent. Leaning against the tree and looking up, the climb back looked very unappealing. Looking down, the trek to the water looked just as unpleasant, but he didn't think he had a choice. Grimly he'd begun the climb down.

As he paused to consider his next move, movement to his left caught his attention. Valen's gaze lifted from the dirt to fix with no small amount of hope on the stranger. It wasn't immediately obvious to him if she was going up or down, so he was hoping for the former. Perhaps she could give him some tips on getting down? Heck, he'd follow her up if she knew the way.

Thankfully the distance between them wasn't that great so he didn't have to raise his voice. "Excuse me, miss? I'm hoping," The hint of a smile graced his lips, "You might be able to help a poor fool out."

It was perhaps less the care in her actions but by sheer luck that Aláwo was succeeding in her climb at all. Her dainty size perhaps helped a little bit, occasionally a step would let the ground crumble beneath her and swiftly she'd clamber out of the way in hopes of continuing this horrid climb. There was the odd occasion when nearly losing her footing that she was tempted to take it as a sign that she ought to just turn around and head back across the Bifröst but some stupid part of her continued. A very stupid part it seemed as her pathway suddenly wasn't quite so clear anymore.

Ahead of her was still free from other wolves though now to her side there was another wolf. He was large though even had he been tiny Aláwo still had a reason to fear him. That alien tongue was calling through the air once more, he was a Northerner and yet another foolish one it seemed with their sights set on the Southern continent. Why did they insist upon invading those lands and their lives? Of course technically she was now guilty of the former crime, though had she still had family or even simply the tribe around her then she wouldn't have needed to take such drastic measures.

He didn't appear to be a threat, a smile upon his features but he was closer than she would have liked not to mention actually trying to interact with her. The poor girl was not too happy at all. "Fi mi silẹ." She doubted he would understand though hopefully her efforts to move further away from him would be enough of a sign that she wished to have nothing to do with him.

Maybe it was the wretched climb getting too him, but she seemed kind of...frosty. Valentine shrugged the feeling off. He was being friendly and he'd called himself a fool. What wasn't there to like about that? Sure, he was a stranger, but he didn't mean any harm and he made that readily known, so he had to be mistaken. Yeah. He was imagining the cold shoulder. Had to be.

He couldn't quite understand what she said. It took him several seconds to figure out why and then several more to decide that nothing about it was familiar. Not a single word sounded remotely like anything he'd heard before. "Ah, well, uh," he shrugged, "I'm afraid I don't speak that particular language. Do you, by chance, speak the common one?" He regarded her hopefully. Of course he was perfectly capable of finding his own way, but why not make the journey easier if it were possible?
