The night sky seemed darker then ever. Avalons heart pounding the entire way from her starting point. She walked alongside Vereux, his presence comforting in a way that meant she wasn't alone anymore. Soon, she hoped she wouldn't be alone at all. She was afraid about joining a pack...the last one she had been in, she had been forced there. Her rights stripped clean like a vulture who picked the meat clean off the bone. And still, she didn't know if that foul creature lived...but she hadn't scented her anywhere. So maybe some grave disease had killed her off. If not another wolf, or maybe her own followers. That thing was evil instilled, and it made her shudder at those horrific memories.

As they neared the pack lands, she glanced warily at the male. She didn't know what the alphess would think of her, but she would try to put her best foot forward and hope that she would be accepted. Though her skills were lacking, she hoped to learn and train with the others and put her size to good use. She wanted to become the great fighter her father was, and this was the first step towards that goal. She exhaled, not realizing she had been practically holding her breath. The smell of the lake came towards her, and with it, the view of thousands of little lights flickering over the waters surface. She paused near the shore, standing on Vereux's right side and slightly behind. She was afraid to call for the alphess, and so she would leave that part to him.

As he led the woman to the pack lands, only a sense of dread washed over him. Her remembered how difficult Yfir could be. He was so used to being in vicious packs, however as a member you'd be welcomed as long as you followed the rules the vows. Who knew what would happen in the future regardless it was nearly like a rock in his path. He could see that Avalon was nervous as their paws stepped near the borders. He himself would continue on, to stand in front of her. She was expecting him to call for her. He understood the feeling, that her freedom would be taken away. That her rights, because like his own, when he had nearly starved to death and watched his friend succumb to something that was nearly not even imaginable. No though, this was her task, Vereux would let a soft whine escape his jaw. Moving forward he settled the bridge of his nose underneath her chin carefully though as she could pull away if she so wished it.

"You must call on your own Avalon. Trust in yourself and your strength, I'll be here to vouch for you." Vereux would whisper. His tail twitched, she was under his care. Yet he hoped Katja would not be doing anything that would upset him. In the end he really, didn't know her that well. He had only known kassander, but if Kassander could make it here he knew that Avalon would be alright. As broken as they were, they had to pick themselves out of the dirt to find their reason.

She was afraid...but she'd swallow that fear when he touched her. She allowed it, the physical touch comforting her and making her fears disappear. She wasn't going in alone, she had a friend to help her. She hoped the alphess would accept her, she needed a home and place to learn and grow. She couldn't do it alone, not as a loner. She missed pack life, missed being among others who wanted to help one another, but was this pack like that? She knew nothing of Yfir, nor the wolves who lived within let alone the alphess. What if this was a trick? No. She couldn't let herself believe that. She was tricked once, surely it wouldn't happen a second time...right?

She looked at Vereux, he seemed trustworthy enough. He wouldn't have made up such a wild story just to get her to trust him right? No, this had to be real. She was placing the little bit of trust she let out, in him. And if it was a trick, then maybe she wasn't meant to be in this existence...taking a deep breath, she sent a silent prayer to her father, wherever he was, to guide her. She nodded to Vereux, eyes closing as she took a moment to herself. Then finally, she'd tilt her head back and a howl was let loose. It was a howl that would strike a chord in her heart. A howl that was supposed to sound confident, but instead, sorrow had filtered through.
