The way the sound bounced off the walls repeatedly was dizzying. Each click of her nails, each hard drawn breath, was amplified. To compensate for the irritating amount of noise, Sabine slowed her movements and modified her steps so that her claws didn't hit the ground as hard. After much effort she managed to get her passage down to a dull roar. She was used to treading on silent paws. This herd-of-elephants noise was for the birds.

What sounded like a possible approach stilled her. The giantess pivoted slowly, her ears swiveling and straining as she sought to pinpoint the source of the noise. Nostrils flaring, Sabine drew in silent huffs as she tried to scent what or who was behind her. With the way the tunnels wove through one another she couldn't tell if she was being followed or if the steps were moving away. It was impossible to tell the nature of the one behind her, and for this reason Sabine could go no further. If she was being pursued she wanted to face her pursuer. If, by chance, they were going the other way, she'd know that soon enough and be able to continue on with her journey. Any second now she'd have her answer, she just needed to quiet.

So she waited in silence.

He wasn't sure where Nysa had gotten off to but he was pretty sure she wouldn't have enjoyed the labyrinth he'd entered anyway. His massive form slipped into the darkness with out hesitation, he was curious about this place and at first had no other reason to enter than to see what he might find. Deimos hadn't travelled for long when he caught her scent. Ever the curious one Deimos would perk at this new discovery. He had no doubt in his mind that it took a special breed to enter this hallowed place. He'd find his lips turning up into an amused grin, not that it would be any kind of visible within the darkness, as he took to following her path.

By scent alone he tracked her, the place was completely dark and he couldn't hear anything over the sound of his own foot steps anyway. Since he didn't hear any other movement within the cave he could only assume that she was nowhere close. He was pleasantly surprised when he breathed in her essence. The trail had become fresh enough that she could have been standing right next to him. Deimos decided to take a chance, "Hello there." His voice was dark, but his curiosity very much obvious.

If Sabine had stopped to think about it she would have been amused by the fact that the brute was picking his way through darkness. She lived in it, so would have been unsympathetic to whatever struggles he may have been having. In fact, she would have been rather pleased if the sound of him smacking into a wall or falling on his face had reached her ears. Too often she was scoffed at for her inability to see. What some failed to realize was the amount of skill needed to navigate without sight.

He was definitely getting closer and not farther away. The scent that reached her was unquestionably masculine and while the sound of his approach helped paint a picture of who he was to some extent, much about him remained a mystery. He was big and heavy. Either that or he stomped around like a bull.

In silence she listened to his approach as he grew increasingly close. His voice a deep rumble, he ventured, "Hello there." Sabine took her sweet time in replying as she mentally sized him up. He was close enough for her to hear him breathing, so if she were to guess he was maybe -give or take a bit- five feet away. "Hello," she purred back after a moment's consideration.

With his words still hanging in the air Deimos was uncertain if he had guessed right for a long moment, maybe his nose had been playing tricks on him. That wasn't the first time the crypt had done that, though there was complete darkness he'd been experiencing slight visual hallucinations that had thrown him off more than a couple time already on his journey. Thankfully he hadn't run into anything, yet. Before he started to walk again though his patience would be rewarded with a greeting from her, hardly a wolf length away. "I wasn't expecting to find another down here," She was obviously a wolf, and her scent had been more of a trail than a residence. He doubted completely that she took up regular residence within the underground labyrinth. "Do you come here often?" He'd take a couple of steps towards her, wondering how close she might allow him.

There was something about the labyrinth that made whispering feel like it was the only option. Maybe it was the way sound tended to fracture along the walls and come racing back from all sides. It encouraged silence while making it difficult to be silent. The brute's voice came again as he commented on the unlikelihood of finding another wolf in this place. "Nor did I." That was sort of a lie. Sabine had fully expected to find at least one body (not a warm one) in the belly of the labyrinth. "It feels like a place not many would venture into."

His next question pulled a subdued laugh from her. It sounded like a line (was it a line?) and that amused her. "Hell no," she said, still chuckling. "How about you, stranger? Don't tell me you're drawn to the dark, dank and depressing." This was the kind of place someone might crawl into to die. It certainly didn't feel like a place worth visiting more than once.

It was interesting standing in complete darkness conversing in whispers with a complete stranger, it seemed much more intimate than any normal first conversation might be. He couldn't say he didn't like it. His companion didn't hesitate in answering him, equally having no expectation of encountering another live being. She spoke the truth, he doubted this was a route anywhere near well travelled, another good reason to seek out its depths. She'd find obvious amusement in his words, and he'd take her reaction as a good sign that he could steal another couple of inches. The inquiry was returned to him easily, though she added a special request that brought a chuckle from his own lips. "No, I'm just a seeker of the unusual. My name is Deimos Nightingale, might i get yours?" He was very much curious of her.

How long had it been since she'd been with Sunni? Surely it wasn't a season already! It felt like it. Sabine wasn't sure if her sister would enjoy the darkness or not, but she really wanted to drag her down into the labyrinth, let her loose and see what happened. But to do that she first had to find her.

And Aki. She couldn't forget him.

"...a seeker of the unusual." Clearly! They were in a position that most travelers would despair over. The maze was confusing, the passages dark and winding and deceitful. A fear of death would -and should- strike the hearts of all who passed here at some point. Some would panic, would run passages blindly, and they would inevitably spend their last moments in fear. Others might give up, find a comfortable place to lay down and die there. In short, the walls of the labyrinth were oppressive and the atmosphere was gloomy. And yet here stood two calm individuals having a conversation. What did that make them?

"My name," she said sweetly as she debated giving him a false name, "is Sabine Jarvela." In the end an honest answer fell from her lips. What did it matter anyway?

His multihued tail would flick behind him impatiently, he stood before this woman with no light. He could not see the soft curve of her form, or watch as her lips danced with her words. He couldn't gauge her reactions or expressions, only try to hear what she might tell him. He didn't miss her tone of voice, and he'd listen as carefully as he could for the sound of her movement as he inched closer. This was indeed a strange place to meet someone, even stranger still to learn someone. He'd reduced the distance between them a bit so far, surely if he moved much closer she might try to remove herself from his grasp. He smiled at the words that left her lips, they were sweet and he wondered if her lips might taste the same. "I wonder, if you taste as sweet as your voice sounds?" He'd mumble quietly to her as he refrained from reaching out, he had no intentions of fumbling over himself to touch her. He only had a couple of senses to work with, and he would be flawless when he used them.

His journey closer didn't go unnoticed. With much amusement she listened to his approach. Undisturbed by it, she stayed rooted where she was. She was at home in the darkness- was he? Sabine lived and fought in the dark. If it came to it she was confident that she could tear him apart and leave him writhing in the labyrinth before he knew what had befallen him.

As he crept towards her it became clear that she was dealing with a behemoth. His low, sweet voice was delivered at a level near her own height. His exact height could only be determined by touch, but over the seasons the giantess had plenty of time to hone her abilities. She was confident in her assessment and very sure he stood somewhere around her own stature.

His question earned him a throaty chuckle. He thought he was smooth, did he? Coyly, she simpered back, "Wouldn't you like to know?" If he was set on tasting her he was going to have to work for it.
