Changes, Next Exit ➵
Avalon |
She had made her rounds across Sonticus territory, the femme seeing little to no sight of the pack members. Where were they all? It's like the pack was no more then a ghost town, she hadn't seen anyone since the meeting. How did the members expect to waltz into the pack, and not do anything? It confused her, though Arian seemed to be pretty lenient about it. And though it wasn't Avalon's place to judge those in the pack, she figured she'd bring it up to Arian next time she saw her. Or perhaps her mate, she had seen Cypress a couple of times already, mostly in gatherings, though she wanted to get to know him and hoped there wasn't any ill thoughts towards her at the same time.
She walked along their borders, keeping an eye out for any who might come near. Her thoughts wandering towards the activity of the pack. She had thought about asking Kreft to show her how to spar, or perhaps even spar with him and see his own skills. But as it was, she saw little of the man. He seemed to keep to himself...most of the pack did. |
So it was with a thrill that he spotted a the dark form of a wolf in the pale distance. His pace increased as he set his sights on the wolf, and as he came closer he recognized the female as Avalon, who he had seen at the meeting but hadn't spoken to yet. He wasted no time in approaching her, his tail waving high above his back, his legs carrying him at an easy trot to come before her. His cold, silvery blue eyes met with her fiery gaze, his expression offering nothing as he was accustomed to suppressing all emotion. "Greetings... you must be Avalon," he began, his voice a low rumble, "I saw you at the meeting... you seem to know our President well. Have things in Sonticus always been so quiet?" He went silent then, awaiting some sort of response from the female, though he wasn't sure what he was going to get. These wolves were foreign to him yet, and only time would allow him to figure them out.

The brute swallowed hard, trying to ignore how this wolf rubbed him the wrong way. "Greetings, Amachi," he said coolly, his voice evidently taut as he held his sharp temper, "I am Xephyris. Perhaps you would offer a suggestion as to where I might lend my paw in Sonticus... this pack is much different than where I was raised. I am accustomed to taking orders regularly, but have been given none since arriving here. Forgive me for feeling out of sorts..." He didn't know what to do with himself when his leader had no requests, and he didn't know anyone well enough to offer his cooperation in any endeavors. He hoped that if Amachi would nag him to do something about the quietness in Sonticus that she would at least offer further thoughts on this.
She turned to see another coming towards her, a male that she had seen at the meeting trying to make conversation with their healer. This had been the first time that another pack wolf had come to talk to her, not counting Amachi or Arian. She opened her mouth to speak and respond to him, but before she could Amachi had arrived and spoke before she could. She closed her mouth, looking from one to the other as they spoke back and forth. Sighing, she waited until they were done, one ear folding back at what Amachi had said, and then what the male had said. She knew the pack was quiet, everyone seemed to know that, yet she knew where the male was coming from too. That's how she was more or less, her home pack was that way. She was accustomed to listening to her father and her mother.
Clearing her throat to add in her own two scents, she greeted Amachi first with a dip of her head. "Good morning Amachi, it's nice to see you out here today." Her tail wagged at the sight of her new friend, and then her attention turned to the male. "You are correct. And I understand where you are coming from, my birth pack was similar in that manner." She glanced from one to the other, hoping that she wouldn't have to step in and interfere should a fight break out between the two others, though she would if she had to. "So you've noticed the pack has been quiet. That is good observation of you, Xephyris. And that is what I have come out to investigate today. I would like for our members to be more active before something...unfortunate happens. I wouldn't want our President to cast out those who deserve a place, and it seems you are interested in earning that place here." She chuckled a little, amber eyes bright for once in a long time. "I have a suggestion, perhaps we could go on a hunt? I don't know what kind of position you are looking for, but it would be a good chance to show one another our skills with a hunt first." She wouldn't be offended if they didn't want to, though this would be a good chance to bond with her pack mates and get to know them.

"Yes, let's bring this pack closer!" he barked roughly, looking between the two ladies, his gaze then landing on Avalon, "We must become strong together. A hunt is surely a good place to start, to provide for the pack and learn to cooperate with one another." He nodded with certainty, his thought pattern clearly shifted from moments ago. Then his cold silver eyes would rest upon Amachi, hearing her soft whisper - such a delicate sound coming from such a massive form. Xephyris shook his head to her apology. "Nevermind that, it doesn't matter," he said, hoping she would understand that he was merely the touchy type, easily offended when he needn't be, "I have no rank yet, Amachi, but I hope to offer protection to this pack, in whatever form that may be. I'm not the fastest on my paws, so I'm not the best hunter... but I am always keenly aware of my surroundings and I keep an eye out for anything suspicious. I've also been trained in battle, and will fight to the death without fear if it is for my pack." That was all he could say for himself - he'd been trained, but he was still young and could do with more training and experience. He could always learn something from others. But regardless, he would always do his best. He hoped they could work together now and start doing something for the pack.
[b]"Great! Perhaps we should start by figuring out what we want to hunt, I scented a caribou trail not too long ago, we could start with that or find something else. It could be good practice for me too, I'm not great at anything I admit." She offered a rather embarrassed smile, admitting she wasn't good either wasn't probably the best thing, but having been deprived of learning when she was younger had the most fault. The only lesson she could remember in hunting was from her father, and she was but a child then.
"Lead the way, if you know where to find the scent," he said to Avalon, waiting for her to show them where she'd scented the beast earlier, "You and I can give chase if Amachi will take up position to intercept the caribou as it flees. Together we can fight it down to its death." He looked to the dire wolf again, awaiting the large woman's response. Would she agree to taking the most important role of intercepting the dangerous fleeing animal?
