She hadn't been out of the den in the last few days, she was so swollen now that she could hardly even move, let alone get herself out of the den. Her tiny silvery frame looked very much miss shappen, but this time Gaia was sure that her little ones would be here soon. She was still terrified, she didn't want to go through the birth, but she was so looking forward to getting them out of her. They moved constantly, and it was easy to tell that their confined home really was getting much too small for them. They would make that ever more apparent now as the first of her contractions would start.

The feeling was uncomfortable, Gaia would feel herself tense at it took her. She was silent though, and within a few moments the sensation was gone. It left her slightly out of breath, and she could feel a panic growing within her chest. Voltage needed to be here right now, she hoped and prayed he was the only one that would come as she called out from their den for him. It was twilight now, before the morning came she was sure their little bundles would be here. But what happened between now and then was more than uncertain.

Voltage was never not nearby lately. He could tell the signs, knew that Gaia was getting close and there wasn't a hope in hell that would get Voltage too far away from her. But that didn't mean he spent every second in the den, he couldn't. As much as he wanted to always be by her side he physically couldn't. Voltage had too much energy, especially now with his babies on the way. He had to move, had to expend it or he'd feel like the was exploading. It was something he knew very well, something he had a lot of experiance with, his ample energy. So that's what he was doing, pacing and trotting and moving along the beach to try and expend his energy. Every time he passed the den he'd poke his head in to check on his love, before trotting off, bolting and running and trying to just calm down, which everyone knew was damn near impossible. Any Elementas that watched him would know somethings up. If it were any other day he'd be off to the battlefield to get rid of this energy, or run with gale, or even try and get into a mental match with Solaris or Terrae. It was difficult, now, with him pacing before the den, to get rid of his energy. Any day now, any day.

So the moment he heard Gaia's call he spun, wincing slightly on his hurt leg as he bolted towards the den, diving in. "What's wrong?" He whispered, his breath coming out in quick pants due more to excitement than exhaustion. He circled around her slightly then, looking at her belly and searching for anything out of the ordinary, or at least from what he had learned. "Should I call Terrae?" He asked, his soft voice coming out in a rush. As much as he adored Orchid's knowledge, he wanted his brother to have this experience.

He couldn't spend all of his time with her even if she wanted him to. During the last leg it seemed like even though they didn't spend every second together all she had to do was call and he was right there. Today, and the most important call, would be no different. He was there in an instant, questioning her reasons as he looked her over. He was quick to mention his brother as well. Her ears would fall back, no matter how much she wanted for it to only be herself and Voltage she knew it was both selfish and stupid. The babies were on their way, they needed Terrae. "Yes," her answer was meek. "They're on their way."over the last few weeks even she had been getting excited over their arrival, and her voice showed it now. Right afterwards another contraction started and this one hurt a bit more. She'd cringe as it went through her, oh she was not excited about the pain.

Voltage pressed kisses along her skull and behind her ear, trying to calm her down as he did. The second she agreed that he should call Terrae he knew, for sure. It was time, time time time. His children would be on their doorstep, and the members of his siblings that don't know will know very soon, especially if they are anything like he was as a child. "I'll call him." He said as calm as he could before he quickly moved to the den entrance. He stepped out into the twilight and tossed his head back, calling for his brother. The call was powerful and sharp, something to not be ignored. He called for his brother Terrae, and hoped the rest of his siblings would forgive him. This had to be private, for Gaia, and then...then everyone would meet their children, his babies. The next generation of Elementas, and perhaps...answers to their questions. Lowering his head he'd gaze across the beach before quickly ducking back in to be at her side, to wait for his brother and hope that he learned what he could to help with the pregnancy. If not, Voltage had bugged Orchid enough to know how to help.

The day was bound to arrive sooner or later, though regardless of how much time of preparation he had been given, he had been busy learning about the flora required for childbirth. It was a natural process of life; and really, no herbs were all that necessary. However, it wasn't exactly a smooth procedure, so in case a hiccup was to occur, he would come prepared, hopefully leaving his brother pleased with his effort. The whole birthing felt like it was solely upon his shoulders; and a heavy burden it was. They were all counting on him, expecting so much from him. How could he not be sick with anxiety?

Every night following the final day he had slept restlessly, never soundly or comfortably. Pups were fickle things, always deciding to be born at the most inconvenient of times. At least this particular litter had settled with the last hour of the evening, when he was still endlessly pacing outside of his den in the hopes to grow weary. There were many reasons why his brother may have called for him, though he wasn't willing to take his chances. Accompanied with his hedgehog friend, who carried various flowers, he galloped with urgency in his step until he briskly reached the den. Hesitantly, an ebony head poked through the entrance, examining the scene. "They're coming, aren't they?" he inquired to his brother, feeling sweat beadily forming upon his forehead, constantly glancing over to ashen female. Already, the contractions had started; and it would only be within mere moments his work would commence. He briefly stared at his tiny companion from the corner of his vision, who still clung to the herbs, beaming a reassuring smile.

Gaia would dig her claws into the ground as the pains grew more intense and more frequent, she'd push into Voltage's side. She wanted to yell and scream and be through with the whole ordeal even before Terrae arrived. With out even being told the Elementas healer would know what was happening. She'd groan heavily as her water broke, accompanied with another contraction she'd whimper and push. Both into Voltage's side and to expel her tiny pups. Orchid had been right, most of this was coming naturally to her. Only when they were actually here would she need to worry about her blindness being an issue. She'd need to be extra careful not to smother them, especially as they were born. She wanted to flail and flop around, but she wasn't sure if there wasn't a pup already squirming on the ground.

When the first was born she wasn't sure what to expect. One moment she was pushing and then there was release. The child would no longer be a part of her. She'd gasp, and do her best not to move, scared now that she'd hurt it by simply trying to get to him. "Volt, you have to help him." She didn't know if Terrae had already gotten to the pup but another swiftly followed as Gaia tried not to move around. Two? Was that all?

It would be Terrea who was called, and perhaps that had been what had thrown her, kept her from the birthing. She would have wanted to be there, even if she did not help, she could have at least offered Terrea support and guidance through his first birthing. In fact, she was surprised that it hadn't been her own name that had been called, that Voltage wouldn't ask for the most experiences healer to be there during the birthing of his own children. She could understand in part the need to give his brother the experience, but still, if anything went wrong, anything at all, she was perhaps the only one here in this pack who could save the life of his mate and children. She had dealt with trouble births before – more times then she cared to admit. They where always stressful, painful, terrible ordeals

When she realized the call that had summoned Terrae was because the birth was happening right here and now, she would move towards the den. She did not enter, nor announce herself, she simple waiting out of sight where she would not disturb the family. It was blatantly clear that she was the outsider here, and the only reason she put her presence near by was to be there to save lives if she was needed. She wasn't here to be a part of this family after all, she was here if there a moment where only her experience could save a life, and to teach the current healers until they too could be the ones to save lives if the situation called for it. Once that was done..? she wasn't sure, perhaps then she would lose this home as well. She didn't have high hopes any more, not after the lose of every pack she had ever known, not since her family had vanished on her. Such dreary, morbid thoughts to have when a birthing was happening just a den wall away from her, life entered the world as she thought about her own life failures, the points in time where she lost everything, not once, but time and time again.

Voltage was at her side through it all, kissing behind her ear and wincing as she did. He would hold her as best as he could, looking nearly frantically towards his healer brother. There was only so much he could handle, only so long he could be calm. So when she seemed to feel more pain, and the whole event reached the crescendo, he couldn't help but feel tears prickle at the edges of his eyes. He reached to place kisses along her skull, toes pressing into the ground. He let go of a breath he didn't realize he was holding, moving slowly towards his new baby, his first born. She was the softest of white, and so tiny. He gasped, eyes prickling once more as he moved towards her, his daughter. With the process done he would gently nudge her towards his soon-to-be wife's belly, to allow her to suckle. Without a second to be overwhelmed with happiness, another soon followed, this one so much darker. Once the process was done, yet again, he quickly moved to nudge her as well towards Gaia's belly. "It's okay, Gaia, love. It's okay." He breathed sofly, moving to to nuzzle her and smile warmly to Terrae. "They're safe, sweety...our daughters, there's two of them..." He said softly, nuzzling her gently and lifting up to look at his babies, his children. "They're healthy, oh so beautiful. One is white...and the other is darker, but they're both so beautiful.." He would sigh softly, looking at his children. It was the job of their Relicus to name the babies, though...that could wait. For now, Gaia should rest, and his children should rest. They'd be find without their names for a few seconds.

It was all happening too quickly for his liking, though he knew he had to step in sooner or later to help. He didn't go to great distances to find these herbs only for them to be abandoned in his storage. At the sound of a groan, the healer rushed over to her side with Silvius trailing behind. Oh, these were rambunctious pups. "Try to relax, miss. Take deep breaths." Well, what else could he say? The hedgehog scampered across the stone floor, nosing crushed pink flowers below the soon-to-be mother's chin. "Trillium and alfalfa - they should ease the process and help you deliver milk when they arrive," he explained with quavering voice, earning an encouraging grin from his companion. However, his work wasn't done just yet; he had to make sure the children actually got out. The female seemed quite natural with it all; and within moments a wet bundle of fur slithered onto the ground. Gentle hedgehog teeth nipped open the sac of which it had arrived in, followed by Terrae's few rasping licks in the opposite direction of their fur to warm the frail child before allowing the proud father to nose it towards her belly, where nutrition awaited. Another pup was born; and so he repeated the same process until it seemed there were no more. "Two healthy females," he declared with an exhausted sigh, joy still shimmering within his bronze gaze. "Congratulations."

She hadn't expected for Terrae's presence to be quite as comfortable as it was. His voice was soothing, and he'd remind her to breathe. She was sure she wouldn't be able to relax though. She was much too busy to realize Orchid's scent right outside the den, and despite herself it too would bring her comfort. Herbs were placed at her nose, she'd barely listen through another contraction but dutifully ate it afterwards. As their first child entered the world she'd feel Voltage's assuring kisses, and reassurance that everything was alright. It was all over faster than she ever could have imagined, and before she knew it she'd hear Volt and Terrae both congratulate her on two daughters. She had two little girls.

The feeling was incredible, and both of them easily latched on to start suckling. She'd sigh heavily into Volt's side, again regretting her disability. She'd never be able to see her little miracles. However, she knew very well already the love she felt for them. They were here, healthy and safe. She'd pant heavily at Volt's paws, slowly she'd let herself forget the pain, and enjoy the feeling of her pups at her side. Gaia had done it, and now she could rest. She'd push her features into Volt's chest and nuzzle him lovingly, they were starting their family.

Voltage sighed heavily as he settled down at her side, thanking the heavens, the gods, the universe, whoever that she was safe and sound. That she and his children were healthy. He didn't know what he would do if something had happened, if something ever happened to any of them. He pressed kisses along her neck and behind her ear, nuzzling into her as she nuzzled back. "You're a miracle, Gaia." He whispered happily, unable to stop kissing her, nuzzling her, loving her. His eyes would constantly glance towards his children as they ate, took their first breathes, before he'd finally look to Terrae. His smile would spread across his lips as he looked at his brother. "You did very well Brother." He said softly, smiling happily. He was unable to move away from Gaia, he couldn't...not yet. But he wanted his brother to know how much this meant to him. "I don't know what I would have done if you weren't here." He said with a breathless laugh, grinning his toothy grin. He would look back to Gaia then, nuzzling into her fur. He wondered, had he ever told her about their naming system? "Gaia, the children...all children in Donostrea, are meant to be named by our Relicus....so they match their chosen elements, if they have them. Is that okay?" He whispered softly. He didn't want to take away the chance from Gaia, but it was something important to the Elementas. It was their pride, their purpose, their identity and if his children continued their legacy then...it would matter to them one day too, right?

The way that she came into this life, would be the start of something. She would feel the moment of her sister, as she moved first from the world they had known and into the other. It would be then that she would follow, move after her sister, take the same path into the harsh cold world. From then on she would always be following her sister, even if she didn't know it yet. She would live to be in her sisters shadow, but for the moment all she would know was the kind licks of those she would come to know of as family. She would feel their love, their presence, and their warmth. She would cry out at all the shocking new things assailing her developing senses, before the scent of milk hit her. She would fall silent as she searched for the beuitful scent, moving a tiny nose, wriggling a tiny body until she found what she searched for. She latched on, and drank from her mother until she was full and knew content, then, she promptly fell asleep in her mother's arms.

He would come in search of his brother, simply wanting to check up on him and his mate and see how they where doing. He would expect the assult of scents and people about the cave, of the cries of newborns and a healer that skulked at the cave entrance.  He eyes orchid, wondering why she was on the outskirts, before dropping a wink her way and moving to the den entrance.  He poked his head inside and all at once his entire body sighed in pure joy at the sight of the wriggling little ones laying at their mothers side. His eyes sort out voltage,  the silvers in his orbs shinning brillient with unshed tears as he did so.  "Oh voltage, gaia..." he whispered softly at the miracle before him. He grinned widely  at Terrea, understanding now why orchid was outside, they where all giving this healer moment to their siblings. He dipped his head once in gratitude to Terrea,  letting his brother know he was proud of him, before his gaze returned to voltage, seeking permission from the father to enter and see his little newborns. The day was really here, they where born, alive, these precious little creatures, and an odd longing tore at his own chest.

His work here was finished, yet it left him weary despite not being the one who actually birthed. Thankfully, the pups appeared to be alright whilst their mother seemed likewise, though inevitably exhausted. The thought allowed him to relax slightly, however, he made a mental note to check on the children within the next following days to ensure they remained in their healthy state, as they were currently quite vulnerable to illnesses. Nevertheless, now was a time to celebrate his own efforts but more significantly the birth of the next Elementas generation - his brother's own family. Unfortunately, none of his nieces bared a similar appearance to himself, yet they all held an intriguing coat of an array of colours, with one looking almost identical to their father.

The healer hadn't noticed his tutor standing outside the entrance, seemingly abandoned from the joyful commotion. After acknowledging his elder brothers' praise over his healing performance, he beckoned the golden-hued woman to join them with a small movement of his head. At the same time, he wondered where the rest of his siblings were, as he knew a few of them held the important role of naming Elementas children, only if Gaia agreed with the process. Finally their rank would be put to good use.
