Predatory Season

Leaving the Oasis, the boy decided to venture off to their other territory. It was too hot around the desert, so shade and a little less heat was welcome as he searched out his own solitary den. The Oasis was too crowded, more like annoying with all the new kids around. They had succeeded in attaining the Empire they so desired, and he wondered when things would be set into motion. The training, the ranks, everything. He itched to start doing things, but for now he had to wait until the pack settled down and accommodated themselves.
As the sun rose higher in the sky, banking towards the western horizon the boy would find a den, it was old but it seemed abandoned. Whether it was from a wolf that used to reside here or an old fox den, he didn't care. It was his now. Sliding inside, he took a good look around and was satisfied with the size. It could easily fit at least two or three others, as long as they weren't fat asses. Slipping out again, he wandered to the nearby stream that was only feet from his new den. There he would sit, contemplating about what to do next.
