Allen had made given his word to Arian, had been taken to her pack with his family. Arian too, had been family. But it was more than that. Without a pack to look over his family they were vulnerable. They were still recovering from sickness, and Allen could not jeopardize them, especially if Bass did not take them back. Of course the old man knew that he had no one to blame but himself for what had happened. Bass had wanted him to fight. Allen would not, could not find it in his heart to go after Sin’s pack. Something about the whole ordeal didn’t sit right with him, and rather than rush into war, as Bass seemed to desire, the man wanted to sort things out another way.

...and now Allen knew there was no way in hell he could ever raise a paw to that pack. Sin had been part of the effort that saved his very life. The man had shown such an act of kindness that Allen felt a debt to him. Did that mean he warned the blood stained man of the likely impending war? No. Allen did still feel loyalty to Bass after all.

...and perhaps that was another reason why his heart was hurting so much. He had agreed to take Sonticus temporarily as Arian waited for her heirs to grow. It felt... Wrong. After agreeing he had begun to regret it. He had been Bass’ secondary... Anything else just felt wrong. Would he be seen as a traitor, despite wanting to help his family in exchange for them helping his own?

Allen would feel his heart drop in his chest as he approached Abaven lands. He felt like a stranger. He felt like it was wrong to be here. The man would hesitate, a paw lifted in the air as he hesitated. Tears would begin to sting his eyes, memories shifting to times before.

Smiles shared. His words of promise to Bass. What had he done to that friendship? Why had he so easily left? Sure Bass had been mad but... If he had just talked it out then... Then maybe...

Allen would swallow a lump in his throat, setting his paw upon the earth. He felt his body quiver, his breathe catching in his throat as he stared out towards the Serpent Plains. It felt like his entire body was suddenly made of stone. His mouth felt grainy, as if he had swallowed a bunch of sand and it was making the thought of even attempting to talk uncomfortable.

Why did he have to meet Sin prior to the challenge of Threar? Had he not, had he just supported and believed in Bass, as he should have, this wouldn’t have happened. Allen would close his eyes, ears lowered flat to his skull. What if they couldn’t make amends? What if Bass saw him as a traitor? Could his heart take that? Could he truly take never being allowed to return to Abaven?

Allen would sigh, shaking his head. There he went again, doubting Bass so quickly. The pale man deserved better, so much better than the calico gentleman had to give. Did he even have a right to call himself a gentleman anymore? Did he have a right to call himself a good wolf?

The whole ordeal had caused a turmoil of emotions to rage inside Allen, and he knew, before he took over Sonticus, he had to at least speak to Bass. Perhaps, if things worked out, he could get Nona, Alna, and Noen back home where they belonged while he assisted Arian. If not... Well... Gods help him.

Allen would proceed the rest of the way to the borders with his tail and ears lowered in submissive stature. He had never been so afraid in his life. Everything, his future, his mate’s future, the future of his children rested on this meeting. “Hajime... Rivaxorus... If you two can hear me... I ask you give me your strength now. Nephew... Sister... I... I can’t do this alone. I need you with me.” Allen whispered softly, calling upon aid from the dead.

Tilting his head back Allen would call for the pale Destruction. He would not sit. He would not move from where he stood alone. If Bass did not answer Allen would not blame him. He never could truly be angry with the other.

...but what had happened was killing him inside. He felt like he had lost a vital part of himself. Bass might not have been a mate, or connected in that sort of way, but there was no doubt that the bond the two brutes shared before was something special. He could only pray that bond was strong enough to withstand the current events in their lives.
