OOC: I'd like this thread to be one on one

Valentine sighed and sent a flurry of snow swirling away from him in one long, drawn out gust. He was laying stretched out atop his tractor with the thought of patrolling at the forefront of his mind. The only thing keeping him from leaping of his perch and heading out on one was the three or so feet of snow waiting for him at the end of his jump. The first couple layers had fallen slowly and had time to compress, but the top layer, which was also the thickest layer, had fallen the night before and was still very soft. Leggy frame or not, each step in it would be a chore. To patrol or not to patrol. He could risk it and hope potential trespassers were feeling just as unmotivated as he was since they too were faced with rolling hills of powdery snow. Valentine could...but should he? The corners of his mouth lifted in a devious smile as a thought crossed his mind. He himself didn't have to go patrolling. It just had to be done by someone. And that someone could be Angel. With that delightful thought in mind Valentine dropped his head so that it rested on his paws again. It was just one of those lazy, do nothing days and if it didn't stop snowing tomorrow would probably be the same. "Talk" "You" Think

Exploring the large territories were in the front of the boys mind. Mom had said to stay in, but the boy wanted to go out and explore. He was barely a season or so old, but already his boldness was surpassing everyone of his other siblings. Deciding to go out and explore before mom came back from hunting sounded like a good idea, so he had left the den in the Orchard and trekked across the white stuff mom said was snow. It was cold, but his thick fur did well to keep him warmer then most. With the thought of going out without mom noticing hadn't crossed his mind. His trail was obvious, the snow did well to mark each step and hole he sunk into. Still, he pressed on until he came up to the huge wood thing. Wagging his tail as he sniffed alongside it, he continued on until something else caught his attention. What was that thing?? With great difficulty, he bounded with leaps to get to the tractor, and the last hop would make him unexpectedly get swallowed by the snow. A moment of shuffling, and his head popped out of it as he turned his inquisitive green gaze onto the tractor. "Whoa! Cool!" He was too short still, and hadn't noticed Valentine on top of the thing, but as it was, all his attention was on the monster with the huge eyes and odd paws. Boy he couldn't wait to get back and tell his brothers and sisters about this! "Speech"

The brute had been laying still long enough that snow had started to build up on him. There was only a thin layer blanketing him, but it was enough to mute his coloring. Another quarter inch or so and it would be hard to tell him apart from his tractor. Oddly enough the snow was surprisingly insulating. He certainly wasn't warm, but there was a noticeable difference between how he felt now and how he felt when he'd first settled down. Bits of snow trailed down the sides of his face as his ears swiveled to pick up the sound of an approach. His eyes followed suit but the rest of him remained still. The unsteady, exuberant tromping of little paws through thick snow was followed by the graceless arrival of one of Avalon's kids. With on final bound the small boy fell prey to the deep snow that had drifted and gathered around the base of his tractor and disappeared in a flurry of powder. Not a split second later the little guy's head popped up out of the snow. To get a better look at him Valentine scooted to the edge of the tractor's roof and peered down. "It is pretty cool, huh?" He was gazing curiously at the thing, trying to figure out if it was dead or alive...or sleeping? Either way, it was still totally cool! It was then his head turned all the way up to see the alpha looking down at him, and Dragon's tail would set to wagging as he smiled. "Yeah! How'd you get up there?" He would pull himself from the snow, wiggling his smaller body up and out until he was standing on somewhat firmer ground. Shaking off his coat then, he lifted himself until both paws were on the tractor step, and the pup would sniff curiously at it before jerking his head back. Gosh, the weird monster creature thing was cold! But he wanted up! He wanted to see what the big man on top could see! Stopping his trying task for a moment, he looked back up at Valentine with a questioning look. "This thing is big! How do you climb up there like that? Isn't it cold? It's cold down here.." He tested the metal step underneath his front paws, and it certainly felt different then the snowy ground or anything else. But still, he could tell his brothers and his sister about it! Simmy and Khar and Ly would love this, right? He certainly did. ""

"I climbed," he told the boy. The child soon popped out of the snow and shook his coat off. In an instant he had both paws up on the side of the tractor and was checking it out. With amusement Valentine watched him investigate, the corners of his mouth rising as the boy found the metal too cold to touch. He was a bit like Rhys, the King decided. They shared an innate curiosity. Again the boy asked how he'd managed to get up top of the tractor and this time Valentine motioned towards the nose of it, which, while closer to the ground, was still pretty high up. "I jumped up on that end and then jumped up here. It is pretty cold, but after a bit the metal warms." Valentine scooted around so that his forepaws hung over the windshield in preparation of climbing onto the hood. "Would you like me to help you up?" "Talk" "You" Think

He climbed? How the heck? He tilted his head as he tried to figure out how his alpha managed to get up there, until Valentine explained to him how he did it. His gaze trailed towards the hood of the tractor, which...was still pretty high for him to get to. It made sense though, Valentine was big enough to climb up there! He wished he was big enough, but he still had some growing to do before he could do that. However, when the Rex asked if he wanted help to get up, the boy was all for it! "Oh yes! I bet you can see everything from up there! I wanna see everything too! I mean..I'd really appreciate it!" He gazed up at the man, tail wagging as he grew excited about the prospect of looking out over the range. "Speech"

"You can see pretty far," he confirmed. There wasn't much to see at the moment, but during the fall when the leaves were changing it was a spectacular sight. Valentine hoisted himself up and then slid over the top of the windshield. He paused once his forepaws were on the hood to look down at Dragon. In the moment it had made sense to offer to lift the boy up, but now that he thought about it he wasn't quite sure how to go about doing it. Did he scruff him and hoist the boy up? Jump down, lift him up on his back and let him climb the rest of the way? Hmurr. Scruffing sounded easier. Valentine scooted to the edge of the hood and then sunk into a low crouch so that his forepaws rested on top of the tire and his head and chest hung over the side.
