Hop, Skip and Jump

(Set about 2 weeks after the floodwater receeds)

Locha kept her head pinned to the hilly earth and her blue paws picked their way through the patchy grassland. Blue yes scanned the terrain, guiding her past the jagged metal that sporadically littered the ground or stuck up from the earth. Most of the metal was rusted, and she did't want to have to cut her trip short due to an infected cut. This was the first time she'd been away from the packlands since the start of the season. It felt good to stretch her legs freely, even though her mind often drifted back home. The rainfall was finally letting up back home and the water had receded safely. Some of the dens though, especially those that were set further back in the cave systems, were packed with sand. It would definitely take a while for those to be dug out again. At least the skies were clear for now.

Looking up to said clear skies, Locha smiled. There was a breeze ruffling her fur, but it had lost it's winter bite and it carried the chatter of newly-migrated spring birds to her ears. It was perfect travelling weather. Oddly enough, Locha had yet to see another wolf. She'd caught the sent of a few, that was pretty much inevitable in these lands, but she had yet to see one. Shaking her head, Locha returned her gaze to the ground, thoughts wandering once again.
