Summer was upon them, and the femme would waste no more time in teaching her children what they ought to learn before they turned a year old next season. Long legs carried her to the range, because today she had a hunting lesson planned for one of her children that had been unable to learn and train due to being sick. Now that he was better, she would strive to be better in her duties as a parent. Pausing near the barn, amber gaze stared over the fields as chickens and goats pecked and grazed about. She would teach him how to hunt these creatures. Lifting her head, she would send a howl for her son Kharnage. The goats didn't seem to mind her presence considering the fact they almost coexisted with the pack that had taken up residence for years now.

Kharnage huffed irritably as he lazed about outside the den. He wasn't sick anymore, thank the heavens, but he'd expected it to be far more exciting to be outside now. The heat just made it so hard to actually get the motivation to go out and do stuff. His dark and fluffy fur just seemed to insulate the heat into his body and it was frustrating. How did his mother manage to deal with it and still accomplish her duties? He'd have to ask her.

Maybe he'd get the chance now! The call of his mother made him roll over off of his back and prick his ears and head up excitedly. Maybe she had something he could do and his boredom would be over! He definitely hoped so. So the boy scrambled to his paws and ran towards the barn as fast as his legs could carry him.

It took him only a few minutes for him to reach her. He grinned broadly at her, taking note of the goats as he arrived, before he paused a few feet from Avalon. "You called?" He asked curiously eager to see what she had for him to do, if anything.

Her son arrived almost immediately, and she figured it was because of the boredom since they'd been sick. She was happy to see him out and about now, and hoped they wouldn't have to go through that again. She had lost one child, she would not lose another. As her son stopped nearby with a question falling from his lips, she smiled and nodded as she padded over to nuzzle his cheek.

"Yes, dear. How would you like to learn how to hunt today? If you're feeling up to it, that is." She took a step back and waited for him to answer. She would be happy to show him how to hunt the way her her father had taught her. It was a good experience, and it would do well to have some bonding time with him.

Kharnage leaned licked Avalon affectionately as she nuzzled him. He was more than eager to be out of the den and he was practically buzzing with excitement. To his own surprise she revealed that she'd be teaching him how to hunt. Truth was he felt more than up to doing something, anything. His limbs would probably still be sore for a little while from lack of use, but some training would definitely get him into shape in no time. Or so he hoped.

"I'd love to!"

He almost bounded off but he only managed one step away from his mother before he turned to look at her again. In all of his excitement he realized he had absolutely no idea where they were going to go. Being cooped up in the den for so long meant he had no clue where the best places to hunt were, or to go swimming, or to do anything really.

"So uh, which way?"

The woman wagged her tail, a smile spreading as her son nuzzled her. She was so happy to see him doing better, and glad to see him so eager and up to the task. She watched him begin to move, a brow raising as she wondered where he might want to go, that is until he turned around and asked. Laughing, she playfully rolled her eyes and pawed at his shoulder. "This way, dear. Towards the barn. There's plenty of prey there to be caught."

Turning around and leading the way towards the structure, the woman moved into a brisk walk. There was plenty of different farm animals to be had, goats and chickens, ducks and even horses and cows. And while the latter might be too challenging for him right now, perhaps chicken or goat might be the way to go. But she'd let him decide. Stopping beside the barn, she waited for him to approach.

He grinned sheepishly as she rolled her eyes at him and pawed his shoulder playfully. She was the expert after all so he was content to let her lead the way since he was definitely new to this. He was ready to try and learn how to do this. He was so late on all his lessons whereas both Lykos and Dragon got to experience it all. He had to admit he was a little bit jealous. He knew it wasn't their fault he was sick but he couldn't help but envy they all had gotten to do while he'd been inside all day and night barely able to move.

"This way, dear. Towards the barn. There's plenty of prey there to be caught."

She padded off in the direction of the barn and Kharnage followed his mother with a fair amount of boisterous energy. It felt like ages before they arrived (though he'd never admit he was being very impatient) and she stopped by the barn. He slowed then stopped beside her as he viewed what their options were. He was smart enough to know that the horses and cows would probably be off limits right now. Something that large was bound to get away since he had no experience. He stood and retained the thoughtful look on his face until he decided.

"Can we try one of the chickens? I heard they're fast." He said with a playful grin. A good game of chase was always fun and it'd make learning how to hunt very exciting. Or at least he hoped it would.

She truly enjoyed the time she spent with her family, and for once, she didn't feel angry about being left alone with the task of raising them alone. Despite the circumstances, she was truly blessed to have these boys. With the breeze ruffling their thick coats, she watched the animals as he came up to her side and voiced that he wanted to try for chickens. She would nod her agreement, eyeing the feathered flock. "Of course, they are pretty fast but not impossible to catch."

Standing tall, she peered around the barn wall towards the stalls. If what she was looking for was there, then this could be an easy hunt. She quietly moved inside, flicking her tail for her son to follow. Padding quietly across the old barn floor, she checked each stall until she finally found what she was looking for. In the farthest stall she had found a nest with a few eggs and no mother hen to watch them. "Alright, I have a plan. One of us can chase the flock and frighten them, as well as catch one while we're at it, and the other can stay hidden here. The mother of these eggs is bound to come running here to protect her eggs, so we can kill two birds with one stone, and have a snack on the side."

It was a simple plan, one that was far from dangerous. And in the process, she could teach him some techniques...Perhaps a time for a quick Quiz to see what he knew, if anything. "Alright, listen carefully. We know chickens, are fast on their feet. And they're not the most graceful birds. But the question is, can they fly?"
