He had failed Borealis - he tried, he failed, and he just... didn't think it was worth it anymore. Even with the new wolves that joined him... it was all weighing so heavily on him. His mother, gone. Sister, gone. Where? He didn't know. And Zephyra... that hurt most of all to the yearling. Seeing his sister run off like that, her words echoing in his ears.

It wasn't really her fault - no, it was his. He was the one who stayed, who promised to be by his mother's side, and be there for his sisters.

He failed.

He sighed heavily, sitting outside his den. He knew what he had to do - he knew what he should do. He should release all of his pack from this misery and worthlessness, and let them go wherever again. He would apologize to them, for his failure as an alpha and the disappointment that he must have wrought.

If only he could start over, with his mother by his side. But that wasn't possible, was it? He knew she was gone, and that she was not going to return. Would Kaitlyn? Time could only tell. But he didn't think so for that, either.

Nixie was really the only one left, and she was a bit absent - and fr that, he felt like an awful older brother. He ought to spend more time with family... and less worrying about this.

His decision made, his head tipped back and he let out a howl. This howl spoke of everything - the release of the wolves of Borealis, and the sorrow he felt at doing this. It was hard, beyond hard even, to make that decision, but now it was too late to go back on it.

Within days, the scents on the borders will fade. Within months, it will be like Borealis never existed.

She was expecting such a call to sound to her ears. Sooner or later, she had been expecting it. As much as she dreaded it, she knew it was going to come. And that was her chance, to face her brother once again. She had ran from him the last time she had visited. The time when she had been expecting a warm reunion, her mother included, though if there was one thing she had learnt about this world, it was that something went wrong at the worst of times. She had gotten over her depression, her grief, her anger, her frustration, her blame...and just accepted it. If this was how her life was meant to turn out, so be it.

Maybe it was for the best, letting go Borealis - the place of so many memories. Maybe it was best if they started over, refreshed their life, commenced a new chapter in their life. The past is the past, perhaps they had to leave it behind and move on.

Upon her arrival at the gulley, she only found her brother. She didn't even question where the rest of the pack had went. A tired sigh drifted from her lips as she slowly approached the male, keeping a few metres behind him. "I'm still with you," she whispered in a soft voice of assurance. "You can come with me to Myriad. Nixie too." Her words slurred into a gentle whine, almost a plea for her brother to stay with her.

Ren wasn't surprised no one had shown up. Who was left? What was left? Nothing at all, it seemed. No-one, anyways. Even Nixie was quiet, something which worried Ren. But he had scented her among the pack - would she bother to come here? No, likely not. Why would she? He had failed the pack. But he would stay there, in these lands, whether or not those around him came and left.

A rustle would catch his attention, and his ears perked almost lazily, rotating to find the source of the sound. His nose twitched, tasting the air. Ren's breath caught - was that... what he thought it was? Slowly, the former alpha turned his head to see a familiar green form. It was. It was who he thought it was. It would be only a few moments of gazing at each other before Zephyra spoke, and the gentle words that emerged were quite unlike the feisty female.

It was a peace offering, almost, and though she paused several feet away, it was also a comforting measure. Her words ended with a whine - that in itself was also quite unlike the woman; did she... really want him to stay so badly? He stood slowly, approaching his younger, yet taller, sister until he stood a mere foot away. "Myriad?" he questioned softly, his voice barely above a whisper. It held a hint of his old curiosity within it, though only a shadow - but still, it was something, right?

A little part of her already shattered heart fell at his question, his curious echo of her words. She had thought everyone knew of Myriad, for many of her Fiori pack-mates were relocating there. The pack didn't even exist; it hadn't yet been created, thrown into life. Of course her brother would know nothing of it, having spent these past few seasons trying to keep his pack, her former home, afloat. She had thought he would have, after a miracle, perhaps. Miracles and luck didn't exist, as she had come to discover. All they could do was continue forward and make the most out of this opportunity. This opportunity to be a family again.

A notion of unease boiled in the pit of her stomach. What if he didn't want to join her in Myriad? What if he didn't find the idea appealing of her and Rivaxorus leading the pack alongside each other? What if he just didn't want to be with her any more? Thinking about such possibilities were painful enough, though she knew he had every right not to follow her. It was his choice what he did with the remainder of his life and where he went. She just wanted him to come with her, and she'd try to be a better person. She'd try to be the Zephyra they always wanted her to be. "Yes, Myriad," she answered with a nervous swallow. "Rivaxorus is leading it." Did her brother remember the Adravendi male? The one she had followed to Fiori and left her family...oh, maybe he wouldn't be such a fan of Myriad after all. "You and Nixie are more than welcome to join." A sigh drifted from her lips as she gazed into her brother's cyan stare. "Please come. We can be together again, a family."
