Xephyris had been fortunate enough to get to know Rivaxorus II over the seasons after the boy's mother had passed away in battle. It had been a rough fight, something difficult to watch if one knew the combatants well enough. He had met Razor here and there as well, but he hadn't gotten a chance to meet any of the other siblings now that they were grown up. He'd seen one of them at Riv's meeting, but hadn't caught up with him since. It's about time I catch up with him, he confirmed in his mind. As he padded alongside a rather wide stream which wound its way around the willow trunks, he though that perhaps he'd caught scent of Riv's sibling. If he followed the trail long enough, he might run in to the boy. Deciding he would keep moving until he found Jackson, his pace was steady but hasty. Would the boy remember him at all? He doubted it, but that didn't matter; it was time to get reacquainted.

Jackson was trying to keep himself busy and find anything he could to try and be a great Daba. He was determined that he should be taking more responsibility and try to be a good pack member. He was unable to do any spy missions and there was no messages that needed to be delivered so Jackson had set out to try and take a head count on the nearby herd that seemed to live towards the outside of their territory. In his travel he had discovered the herd was more closer to the main area of the pack. In fact he had almost spooked the herd, but managed to hide himself quickly. For a while he had to lay low, stay quiet in order for the herd's suspicion to disappear. Waiting and listening was all he did for what seemed like ages until he could hear the herd casually moving around again and no alerted snorts from any of them.

Carefully he rose from his spot, just enough to see the herd and smiled at the size of it. His tail gently wagged seeing all the healthy prey in front of him, glad that everything seemed bountiful still. He tried to regain focus and started to do a head count, several times he had to restart and even grew frustrated with himself. It was hard to take count when they all looked so similar to one another, but he had managed to get a vary close count of the herd and took the time to observe them for a little.

As he continued on following the boy's scent trail, he eventually found the young man. Xephyris would have approached sooner, but he didn't wish to interrupt the boy's current task. As he watched, it looked like Jackson was making mental notes as he observed a herd. Interesting. His silver eyes scanned over the herd for several moments as well, before looking back to Jackson curiously. He wondered what rank the young wolf held. When it finally appeared as though Jackson may have finished his task, Xephyris would approach quietly, still not wanting to startle the herd in case the boy wasn't done with them yet.

"Greetings, Jackson," he murmured when he was close enough to be heard, "Is there a task I can assist you with?" He didn't want to stop the male from working if he was busy, but would offer his help if there was something he could do. Casual talk could be dealt with later, when more important things were out of the way first. Silently, the man would wait for a response before saying anything more.

Jackson scanned the herd after his head count looking for the old, sick, or the injured ones. He was hoping to get a pack hunt together soon and he would need to keep his eyes open for a good target. If a real good target was available now, maybe the pack hunt would be sooner then he had planned. His ears gently folded back at the older male's voice reached them, taking in his quiet tones and quiet approach. Jackson turned his gaze from the herd to the older male and smiled, his tail gently wagging in a silent greeting. He was glad the male had found him, happy to have some company since his task was now finished.

"Hello Xephyris. No not really a task that needs any help but thank you." he replied back quietly.

Peering back at the herd he figured it would be best to move further away from them so they wouldn't get spooked and possibly travel out of the territory. Quietly moving he turned to the Xeph and gave him a quiet motion.

"Let's move a little further away so we don't scare them," he said quietly.

Quietly moving away from the spot they were in. He moved away from the herd until he felt that they wouldn't scare them at all and he stopped turning to face Xeph.

"How are you doing Xeph," he asked with another light wag of his tail.

As the younger male greeted him and informed him that he didn't need any help, Xephyris was not disappointed. Although he was always eager to involve himself in pack tasks, hunting really wasn't his thing, so he didn't feel like he was missing out on anything. Shortly after, Jackson would suggest they move a little further from the herd, so as to not spook them. Xeph nodded and followed the younger brute, although he regretted not chasing down a deer today. It would have brought him joy to reign terror upon the herd and cause them to scatter, killing off any that strayed. But perhaps that would be better left for a carefully planned hunt, rather than a one-time, murderous whim.

When they were finally far enough from the herd, Jackson turned to face him, asking how he was doing. The gray-coated male shrugged. There was nothing too exciting going on in his life, but there was nothing particularly unpleasant either. "I'm rather neutral, I suppose," he replied in a bland tone, "Just getting through day to day. What about you? Working toward a hunter's rank?" From the looks of it, it appeared that Jackson might be looking to increase his status, and although Xephyris took little care in the trade himself, he knew its importance. And he could certainly see the boy's dedication to it. In fact, he was rather impressed.
