Peregrine had just about had enough of winter, and elected not to think about the many long weeks that still lay ahead of them. She sighed, and slogged through the sodden moor. It was not cold enough to freeze, and yet not so warm to keep the damp, bone-chilling cold from seeping into her very soul. She frowned up at the thick, iron clouds that roiled above her. They promised either another icy deluge or snow and lots of it. She would prefer neither, thank you very much. She looked back over her shoulder to where Tsiry rode and sighed. "Have you seen anywhere we might get out of the elements?" The lemur frowned and shook her head.

The world around them was mostly flat, peppered with the occasional hillock and many tangles of scrub plants and herbs, but it was all low and sparse. The best she could hope for would probably be to recycle an old, abandoned den assuming she could even find one. It was looking pretty hopeless. She sighed once again and, once again, prayed that the clouds would move on without assailing her. All things considered, this was a wonderful land she'd found. Much of it's annual yield had died away but many more hardy species were holding their own again the mild Winter they'd experienced so far. Maybe if the clouds began to break up before they lost the light of the day she would sniff around but for now she simply sought somewhere to sleep.

Exploration had been the only thing on the beasts mind. This was a new land, she was ready to go on little adventures and know of the lands she was about to conquer. Okay, maybe it would take a while. But, the woman was quite cocky. Yellow eyes slipped around the and before her. Mists shifted through the trees and rocks. Snow fell from the ground, for it was still the thick of winter. The behemoth was use to such weather, she had made her home within the north. Her fur was quite thick and layered from the season. Ilyn'ra slithered through the tall rocks, observing her surroundings with a tiny smile. Despite her full agenda, the woman could appreciate beauty nonetheless.

Soon enough, her yellow gaze fell upon a woman. Ily watched from a far for a bit. Her eyes flicking to the little Lemur that followed her around and a.. thing that fell across her back? It looked like a thingy made in the past, like the ship she resided upon within the north. No Wolf could make such a thing. Her head tilted, flabbergasted by the beauty of the contraption. A breeze allowed her thick fur to dance, reminding her of how cold it truly was. Ily rolled her shoulders and slithered towards the other femme. "What is that odd thing you wear around your body?" The woman lacked grace in those moments, yet her steps towards the brown furred girl were elegant as ever. "I am quite interested." A tiny smile slithered across her inky lips, her eyes flicking quickly to the Lemur then back to the bag.

The moor's fog was a thick blanket around Marleen, it's chilly lack of transparency akin to her own mood. From a distance, Marleen traveled towards the same coordinates as the stranger Ilynra, the distance closing the closer she got, and the closer she became to Ilynra. Soon Marleen was walking parallel to the girl, within talking distance, but Marleen's focus remained strictly ahead, as unblinking and unwavering as a final resting place.

A voice ahead sounded an inquiry about the unfavorable weather, and Marleen was not startled. Then, the voice of Ilynra so close to Marleen ringing true and clear, but still Marleen was as unreactive as a noble gas. If Ilyrna had stopped, Marleen stopped too, purposefully but without effort so that their distance would be side-by-side, as if Marleen were some sort of odd shadow, perhaps Ilyrna's much smaller, much detached lack of conscience.

"I am more interested in your golden snack. I'll let you shelter in my snatch for your lunch. ", her voice was as unexpressive as her blank, blinkless face. Then her voice changed to something lilty and questioning, her head tilting all the way to one side, so far that it looked like her head dangled unnaturally from her neck, which looked even odder given Marleen's mostly lack of a neck at all thanks to her mother's decisions in what was best for breeding stud material. "It is damp here but hardly cold. How can you expect to survive the rest of the winter if you are cold now and your dinner runs amok outside your belly?", the words held no insult, just a complete lack of comprehension on what a pet was and did, as if a cloud asking the meaning of something that would never affect it, such as the stars galaxies away.

GOT AN ANGEL ON MY SHOULDER
But the devil always won...

Raiding season was around the corner but Hárekr was not yet in the right frame of mind or body for the slaughter to come… assuming they would raid at all.  So many young and inexperienced warriors.  Would it be better to wait?  Oh, certainly not?  What would his darling Constanza, say?  Mismatched eyes glittered with delight as he drank in the sight of the exotic stones.  Lean shoulders rolled forward lightly, back and forth as the gears of his mind clicked around in their typical aimless matter.  Was he strong enough to survive a raid?  There were other means of trade.  Whispers winding up north with the southern wind but trade had never really been Hárekr’s expertise.  He traded in blood, humor and little else.  Though he did relish the idea of acting as a noble body guard to Yfir’s traders as they went about their way interacting with others of Boreas.  Assuming anyone even wanted to interact with them.  Diplomacy was so tedious but essential for budding trade routes.

Hárekr backed away from the stones, whispering a soft prayer before going on his merry way to…. crap….  where was he going?  He slipped around a gnarled oak tree to spy three women.  Lovely things.  Strange things.  He stepped forward, voice floating lyrically into the air.  “I wonder if I’ve stumbled into the presence of the norns.  Would you tell a poor sinner his future?”

"Monsters don't sleep under your bed, they sleep inside your head."

It wasn't long at all before Peregrine found herself assaulted by a pair of... well, one she was pretty sure was a wolf, but the other had her puzzling. The first to approach her, a dark and earthy fae, seemed mostly interested in her satchel. Peregrine did not have more than a moment to be surprised before she noticed another wolf approaching through the fog. "It's a satchel," she began, focusing more on the other wolf approaching them. She seemed almost mechanical in the thoughtless way she moved, but suddenly came to a stop not far away. "I am more interested in your golden snack," she said. "I'll let you shelter in my snatch for your lunch." Peregrine's eyes flew wide, and she let out a small guffaw, muted by shock alone. Her eyes danced back to the first female and murmured, affecting that this unexpectedly rude woman had interrupted something. "It's a satchel, I carry things in it to trade for other goods." In a louder voice and with her full attention she addressed the small dark creature.

She had an odd, disaffected way of speaking. Peregrine could not decide if she was offended because she could not yet decide if the dark fae was trying to start something. She raised a brow instead. "Does it have to be subzero for me to seek shelter from rain, too? Pardon me for not asking permission. And Tsiry is not a meal, she's a friend, so keep your maw off." The words leaked from her mouth as easily as oil moved in water, propelled by her drive to push this female. Who was she, and why was she here. She cast a sideways glance to the one beside her to see if she was just as put off as Pere was. Before she knew it another wolf appeared through the mist. "Oh, for the love of..." She cast a glance over her shoulder to the lemur upon her back, and found her only moments from bolting off into the moorland. Fantastic.

Of course he has some nonsense babble to offer as well. Had she wandered into some test of the Gods, had everyone in the world lost their minds? She lifted her muzzle skyward to offer them the driest of glares before fixing the mostly pale male with the same lifted brow she's given the weirdo. "Not sure what a 'norn' is, but my bet is the future is filled with misery and toil, just like the past." She tossed him a cheeky grin before turning herself broadside and giving each of the sudden new arrivals a once over. "Do you all know one another or are the gods playing games with us today?" It seemed fair to ask, perhaps there was an explanation, or perhaps the coming storm had driven them all to seek protection. Around her, the wind began to pick up and wail. Either way, she wasn't sure they were going to be able to find a den big enough for them all.

Ilyn'ra was soon surrounded, or at least it felt like. The brown furred one with the Lemur was truly the one of focus. Obviously. Her yellow eyes flicked around quickly, finding that new scent at her side. An obsidian dame had joined them, standing square at her right a few tail lengths away. The earthy toned girl tilted her head a bit, eyeing her for a few moments. A luxurious tongue rolled from her chasms most call jaws. That slimy tongue slipped across her bumpy, inky, lips for a few moments. Her ravenous gaze then moved back to the Wolf of focus as words escaped its mouth. Ily craned her neck, to eye the.. statchel with great interest. Despite Ilynra's great need for turmoil, she had an eye for peculiar things. Yet, the whole situation at hand was slowly getting more and more peculiar. The ebony femme at her right decided she would grace them with her hand at an offer? Though, even the beastly woman knew that would not go over well. The monkey looking companion thing was obviously not food. Any of the sane mind could realize thus as a fact. Ily let forth a tiny laugh shaking her head. Yet, she stood her ground, truly wishing to take everything in before making any movements. As the darker dame continued to let forth her.. ignorant words Ily could not help but shaking her head a little more. Just as Ilyn'ra was about to let forth her own cocky retort, the satchel bearing one did for herself. A tiny nod could be seen from the earthy beast, in agreeance with the gatherer.

Just as Ilyn'ra thought the little meeting could not get even more.. random. Another appeared out of thin air. Her eyes instantly darted to the alabaster hued male with a cocked brow. He seemed to whisper something at the rocks before letting forth more distinct words towards them. Ily let her jaw drop. Did he think they were.. fortune tellers? Or.. god-bearing folk? Oh the behemoth was smiling from ear to ear. The one with the satchel spoke again, asking if they all knew each other. Yet, the answer was no on Ily's behalf. She knew no one from these lands, only of her sister. Who.. she assumed was long gone by now. "I know none of these fools, I approached to seek answers about your.. satchel. Yet, this situation is much more interesting then I thought it would be!" Her manic tone was evdient, but the woman then moved on to step closer to the sinner. Her eyes connected with his as she smiled.. a crooked smile you should note. "Dear sinner.. I know your future. Yes, the Gods speak to me with ease, for they have trust in my faithful mind! You may know.. with payment." No, Ilyn'ra did not know how to tell the future. But, she could play the part for some fun! She sure did love messing with the religious ones. Due to their touch with reality was less then hers. That was a feat. Her eyes were wide, peering into his. She stood tall, her nose pointed up. The woman wished to give off an air of confidence, so he would believe she was.. this 'norn' he spoke of.

Marleen's eyes lit up with understanding at the mention of trade, comprehension brightening her eyes, but completely lacking from her expression, as if there was a disconnect from her brain to her face in the way thing should work.

She gave a sort of shrug, an action that indicated the mechanics of something unseen. "My snatch, my permission, rain or shine. The skies have no bearing on my ovaries, misses. ", she noted his noting his snack "pet" had run off and she smiled a little to herself at the smartness of such a creature not to hang around where the discussion of meals was involved.

The woman she'd shadowed cracked a laugh that rang to her of superiority and smugness, as if she knew the rules that the world went by and obeyed them and found it funny that Marleen never bothered to learn them for as often as she broke such fragile things. At the woman's stepping closer, Marleen judget it an act of smugness and dominance alike. Marleen reached her neck out and attempted to swiftly lick at the woman's eyeball, but with no manner of gentleness.

"Games, games, time is the God's games played.", her voice was thrown, as if quoting a passage or proverb.

She wasn't the slightest bit affected by the arrival of a male to the threesome of the females. "-", she started to speak immediately, but her left ear flicked back irritably at her shadow's quote of a price for a fortune. She responded as quickly as her shadow (Illy) was done speaking, without a spare moment of silence. "Ya loose your tail.", she gave a nonchallant, casual shrug, as if it was as predictable as rain.

"Payment and commerce are for the taxable", she added, sticking her neck out as if butting in a conversation as she spoke.

She paused, and then craned her neck all the way forwards and to one side, and then craned and tilted her body, too as she examined the new male (Hárekr). "Oh you have pretty eyes. Gifted eyes. Of which much will be damanded. You thought they were free all this time.", she snickered and laughed quietly to herself, a disturbing grating of nerves and donkeys baying.

ooc: Saw Xexes is leaving so I’m going to kind of skip over Marleen I guess…

GOT AN ANGEL ON MY SHOULDER
But the devil always won...

Hárekr kept alert as he watched the weird women, trying gauge if the gods hands were stained with the fate of this occasion. It wasn’t often he stumbled into such a gathering and the earthen colored femme with the satchel and the strange… beast next to her was certainly odd indeed. What sort of miserable creature was it anyway? She replied to his question but rather than answer hers about the norns (that she had to ask suggested she was not) he spoke of her disposition. “Such a dreary outlook on life for one so beautiful. Are there any throats in need of yielding to satisfy your dour mood?” Laughter rumbled in his chest. “Nay, I don’t know these women but I was wondering myself what the gods are up to…”

His attention snapped to the earthen femme with the lovely golden eyes as she offered to tell his fortune for a price. “My lovely vision, you wouldn’t be trying to con me now would you? What would you have me pay?” He grinned before letting his ears fall and his tail tuck slightly. “What would you ask of one so lowly!” he stated dramatically, falling into character.

The dark colored fae muttered something and mentioned his eyes to which Hárekr pulled back, left paw to chest in feigned embarassment. “My darling that is so sweet of you to say and they were never free… I have paid much for these eyes. Perhaps one day I shall trade them for knowledge as the all-father did.” He watched as the dark-colored femme left before turning his attention back to the other two women. They were far more interesting.

"Monsters don't sleep under your bed, they sleep inside your head."
