This new sense of freedom and opportunity was exhilarating. Or it would be, if this whole place weren't so ridiculously empty. Sure, Ricochet had only been on the continent for a few days at this point, but she'd have thought that something would have sparked her interest by now. All she had found was load of nothing... and a cannibalistic maniac in the tar pits. Okay, so that had been a little exciting. But it still wasn't what the brutish woman was looking for. She wanted to feel like she was living for once. But instead she was drifting, like a seed on the wind, except she was the kind of seed that didn't want roots.
Could you have an exciting life without putting down ties anywhere? Wasn't that what exciting was supposed to mean? All her life Ricochet had seen herself being a loner, but the kind of loner that did badass things and made others jealous. Or better yet, afraid. She wanted to put her fighting abilities to the test and end up decorated in battle scars. She wanted to seduce all kinds of women and make them forget their own name, or better yet, their own sexuality. Just for the night. She had to admit she had already done it a time or two.
That was her dream. To become an infamous fighter and a famous lover. But she couldn't do that in a place that lacked any sense of... ambition. |
