EDIT: Gemstore Purchase

To say Peregrine had grown since coming to this land was quite the understatement. What once was a lackadaisical femme was now roiling with ambition, dreams even. She had learned the value of her skills and been emboldened by those she had chosen to travel with. She had learned much, met with several of the land's packs and had come to a startling decision.

She wanted more. Much more.

Half a year ago a move like this would not have suited her, but she thought fondly of Karabela, who maintained her freedom despite the chains of her pack. Perhaps they were not chains at all. She thought of Ren who felt so much frustration under his own leadership and dreamed of something better. She thought of Ricochet, young and full of potential. There was so much more she could do that she could not accomplish as one wolf with a rag tag group of allies. She needed more. Peregrine knew it wasn't much to go on and she was leaving a lot to fate, but she had to trust her gut that Ren had the right of it.

After all, Avalon seemed strong and wise, the big red beast as much larger than she, and of course she knew nothing of the other packs who called this land home. What option was left to her? She tipped her head back and let out a howl to rock the ages, convinced that a new age was upon them all. She called for the leader of Myriad first and foremost, and for his followers and for her own friends who she hoped would come to aid her. She called for any who were filled with wanderlust and the same dreams she herself felt. For allies in other packs and rogues she had never met before. Let them all come and bear witness to the turning of an age.

OOC: I just wanted to say that this is nothing personal. I refuse to do anything without IC reasoning, and Myriad is the only pack Peregrine has been told is weak, whether it's true or not. Riv, I wish you all the best and I hope there are no hard feelings!!! <3

A sigh would flutter past the blind healer's lips. She was out gathering herbs when the call reached her ears. A rumble from Nox told the young female that the call for Riv wasn't anything good. Armai had never been to the battlefield, but her companion had and the leopard had no problem leading the way. The stench of stale blood and other wolves seemed rather permanent here which caused her nose to wrinkle. The land was easy enough to traverse for the blind healer though and she was thankful for that. The flat terrain, with Nox leading her, was kind to her paws.

Her fur pressed against Nox as the approached the challenger. If Armai could see her gaze would have rested upon the unfamiliar with a cold stare, but she could only hope that she was looking in the right direction as she paused not too far away and took a seat. Placing the herbs she collected on the ground she settled in to listen. She was glad she'd brought some. After this fight the wolves would surely have to be patched up. In the mean time Armai could only be bitter. She had faith in Rivaxorous and his skills, but should he lose she was out of a home again.

"I don't recognize you." She'd state. Out of anyone she'd expected the wolf Riv had tried to banish, Ren, to challenge. Not some stranger. "What do you hope to gain from this?"

Armai has a female snow leopard companion that goes by the name of Nox. It can be assumed that she is always with Armai unless otherwise stated.

As luck would have it Rœkia hadn't been to far away from the battlefield when Peregrine's call rang out.  She'd been skirting around the blood-stained territory on her way north to investigate some of the lands there which would be thawing with the approach of summer.  Honestly, for a moment she thought she'd heard wrong.  Peregrine was challenging for a pack?  Wolf landed on her shoulder and the speckled femme grinned mischievously.  My dear Pere what are you getting up to?  The poison master swiftly raced toward the call intent to see what he friend was getting up to and when she arrived she saw Peregrine standing with passionate confidence before a strange woman who asked what she hoped to gain with this.

Rœkia barked out a laugh.  "Isn't it obvious?  A pack of course!"  She moved to stop at Peregrine's side.  "Feeling a bit ambitious are we my dear?  If you are planning to take a pack I hope you'll consider me among its ranks."

Ahhh this was a bit soon, but life would go on as they say. Renhett just simply had an interest in what was going to happen. The only reason she showed up, plus with Riv's size and the way he carried himself she had no doubt he had a fair chance. After all, maybe she could see how far guts and glory actually took place. The walker would walk up to the battlefield and keep her distance. Red eyes looking about the battlefield. Wondering silently if she'd see any familiar faces in the dust. Her only thought being, she hoped not. As she looked over the challenger, a smirk left her lips. What a pretty lady, she again wondered what it would be like to see her bleeding.

Was that... a call for Rivaxorus? A challenge? The blue male's head rose, and he stared in the direction of the call. It was rather far away, but it was quite amusing - he'd definitely show. Besides, the voice had a familiar ring to it, even if he'd never heard the howl before. It was certainly worth attending, and so the wolf would rise, amusement in his eyes - but also curiosity. Who was it that was calling this challenge? He hummed thoughtfully, even as he started the gentle lope towards the source.

It was a long journey, but not particularly difficult. It was, however, insanely rewarding - because at the end, he was rewarded with seeing Peregrine standing firmly and strongly. No wonder he recognized it. He tossed his head back and laughed long and hard, mirth clear in his voice. "My lovely lady Peregrine," he drawled loudly, drawing nearer. He dropped into a dramatic bow, still chuckling. "How bold a move!" Truly, he hadn't expected it at all. "I wish you luck, my lady," he chuckled, tossing in another bow with a little grin. True, it was a bit dramatic, yes, but he was very, very amused by this. And... well, the fact that Rivaxorus hadn't arrived yet. He swung his head, cyan eyes searching for that familiar form. He suspected it would be Riv to answer the challenge; it didn't even occur to him that Zephyra might.

Wait for it

He was on his feet in seconds. Rivaxorus knew that this was bound to happen. He knew it was not out of spite this time at least. He threw the thought of his family behind. Absentmindedly he hoped that Zephyra would show. Somehow his heart was torn on subjects he didn't even know would exist. As the large male strode onto the battlefield, he would not allow the enemy to see any sign of weakness. His mind held neutral and he simply cleared it as he would before every battle. This time it was for real though, he'd be throwing all shot into the table. The male's eyes for one split second would settle on Ren just to hear what he said. Half of him couldn't believe the tyranny of this man, but he didn't comment nor express anything. As he then stood in front of this peregrine. He sized her up of course.

"Hello miss, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Rivaxorus." Riv wouldn't let a neutral tone leave his maw. Standing strong - he had members to protect and rely on him. This was his chance to show them what he was made of. He would win - there wasn't anything else to it. "Challenger gets first move - I wish you luck." Of course in the back of his mind he cursed - he hoped and prayed to his gods that he'd have the strength to fight her off. The male would place five feet between them. Setting his defenses down to the core. His knees bent slightly, toes splaying and digging further into the terrain for traction. To start his tail would level with his spine. Eyes narrowed to protect them, he pulled back his muzzle - showing off his teeth as well as scrunching up the skin over his face to make it harder to get a grip. His head tucked slightly to protect his throat. Ears pinning to the back of his skull. His hackles raised and he rolled his shoulders inward scrunching his scruff to protect his neck from getting a hold. Then he waited, and he would dominate.

A woman appeared before any other, a large cat in tow. Peregrine could not say this was what she expected. She took a deep breath in through her nose, nostrils flaring, and found the same scent upon her fur that had sat upon Ren's, even after his long swim. A pack scent, certainly, to be so ingrained with her being. Next a more familiar sight and one that caused Peregrine to beam. Magpie had arrived! She was thrilled to see her friend manning her defenses, albeit somewhat surprised to see her so soon. Perhaps Peregrine wasn't the only one who liked to trail around after others, eh? She answered the first woman's question, as best as she could. What did she hope to gain? Truthfully she couldn't say. "I believe life is full of opportunity for those willing to seize it," she said simply. That was a truth of it. She went where her gut pulled her, that was all.

To Roekia she opened her mouth, about to reply when another arrived, and then another. There was another unfamiliar wolf who bore the scent of Myriad and then Ren himself. For the latter she spared a wide smile, mostly in response to his hearty laughter. He wished her luck and she offered her unlikely ally a bow of her head. She might have said more but another male was evident on the horizon. He walked with such a bold swagger, she took a moment to decide if Ren had mislead her in his own arrogance or if it was all a facade. She supposed time would tell.

He greeted her with the aplomb of someone who had not had to risk their lives for much. If their positions had been swapped she would have arrived on the scene cursing up a storm to frighten the gods, frothing, teeth gnashing. Perhaps she simply lacked restraint. Regardless, she could play the same game as he. With a smile too sweet to be anything but false she quipped, “A pleasure, I'm sure. It is nice to meet you Rivaxorous. I've heard much about you, and I'm ready whenever you are.” She was not about to waste even a moment of precious time. He wished her luck, which she was grateful for because she was certain to need it. She would not afford him the same boon. She did not wish him luck because she did not want him to win. He had come too close for her comfort but her pride did not allow her to back away. He sank into a stance of his own, and she took a deep breath.

He was larger than her, much larger at that. Yet what good did that size do him if he used it as poorly as Ren described. She fell into a position nearly foreign to her, but one she supposed she would have to get used to. First and foremost her hackles would rise, making her appear larger than she might otherwise. The skin of her ruff loosened and she rolled her shoulders, allowing it to fall forward and providing her throat as much protection as possible. She tucked her chin to further that gain. Her lips pulled back to reveal he snapping maw and her jaw hung loose, prepared to latch onto anything he would offer. Her eyes narrowed and her ears flattened against her broad skull. Each paw was planted evenly apart from one another to square her frame and steady her balance, each claw dug into the earth below her for a secure grip. She bent at the joints to lower her center of gravity while tightening the muscles of her core so that she was ready to leap any which way was required of her. Her tail extended and aligned with her spine, which had aligned with her enemy. She would face him straight on.

The first move, it would seem, was hers. Again, he was far too close for her comfort, give or take a tail length. Five feet at most. She crouched, gathering her energy in her hind legs and aiming directly ahead before rocketing forward. She reared upwards only a breath before they might have collided, twelve inches remaining between her front paws and his, attempting to wrap her forepaws around his neck. She attempted to hold on tight with her forelimbs so that wherever he might move she had the opportunity to be dragged along for the ride. Her jaws snapped forwards, attempting to latch onto the left side of his skull, with her top jaw seeking out his left brow and left eye, while her lower jaw hoped to clamp down on the left side of his own lower jaw. If she were able to complete her bite and clamp her jaws shut, she hoped to tear through the skin there and possibly even blind him with his own blood. It would be a good start, no? She continued to push forward with her hind legs, claws dug firmly into the ground and attempting to keep her momentum moving forward to push him back even a step.

A slow smile tugged up the corners of her lips as the howl for a fight rang out. The smile was accompanied by an amused and mean-spirited chuckle. She recognized that voice and if that woman was as good a fighter as she was a shit talker then her opponent was fucked. Well that, she decided, was something she couldn't miss.

---

By the time she arrived the fight was already underway. ”Damn,” she thought to herself as she strode towards the sound of combat and the vaguely familiar scent of Peregrine. ”Missed the smack talk.” And she was willing to bet it had been good too! Such a shame. Ah well, she still had the fight to listen to. Really though, listening to a fight was a lot less entertaining than being in one. Damn, she wished she could have been there for the shit talking!

Sabine's nose twitched as she searched for a scent. Maybe she could twist Ehrgeiz into describing what was happening for her. Or if that wasn't an option... ”Hey,” the giantess said somewhat brusquely to make up for the request she was about to make. Because she was seriously interested in knowing what was happening Sabine was careful to turn the dial on her sarcasm way down. For her own amusement she did however crank up the pity and she couldn't very well drop all of her sarcasm while doing that lest someone actually believe she was in need of pity. If she was stuck with being sightless she may as well milk it for whatever it was worth, right? ”One of you should take pity on a poor blind woman and describe the fight.”

Ásvor was admittedly restless. Bored and restless. Yfir had been a quiet place for some time now, and she found herself wandering away from her homelands more and more frequently. The young girl had made a few trips south, further than this even, but she'd been drawn to this place. A wide field, desolate and haunting, which held the scent of death in its grip. It was morbidly fascinating, and she moved half in a daze through the battlefield.

A call shook her from her stupor. It was firm and demanding, meant for someone she did not know, and instantly her curiosity was piqued. A grin tugged at the corners of her lips as the girl moved quietly and quickly toward the group that had gathered. None of them were very familiar, and some looked rather threatening - she would be safe and keep her distance, though she was certain her gods would protect her here, and they would see no harm come to her. Truth be told, her gaze didn't linger on any one of them for long before it locked onto the two who were about to engage in battle.

The expression on her face faltered slightly as she moved to sit on her own, though a dreamy sort of smile remained as she gazed onto the fight. Her sapphire gaze was filled with wonder as it fixed on the two, wanting to see the violence unfold before her - and she desperately hoped that blood would be spilled.

It wasn't immediately recognizable what was going on, but when she spotted her brother heading out, she grew curious and followed a good length behind. Not because she was trying to be sneaky, but he was so much bigger and she was so tiny, that every one step he took felt like five steps for her. The little blue girl scampered after him to a place she'd never been too, stopping several lengths behind as he went on to greet the woman who she assumed had made the call. They knew each other? She watched the goings on, and hadn't even noticed much until Rivaxorous showed up. So, this was a challenge for the pack? Did her brother have something to do with it? He was awfully friendly with that strange lady...she sat down, unsure how to feel about it all.

It didn't take long for a fight to start, the little pixie girl Watching the scene unfold. Zephy wasn't here yet, but a whole bunch of other strangers were. Would Rivaxorous win? Or would her brother's friend win? Truth be told, she didn't know how to feel about it. She didn't like Rivaxorous for being a meanie to her family and stealing her sister, but then if he lost, she wouldn't have a home anymore right? But if Ren's friend was stronger, then maybe that was better? She didn't know. "Eat his toes!" She startled herself then. Wait what? No! She wanted to be the one to chew off his toes for being so mean! She quickly glanced around to make sure nobody had heard her, and if they did...oh well. She had already said it.

It hasn't been too long since her meeting with the trader. And all they'd talked about had fueled Avalon's desire to explore the lands more to see what oddities might be used for the purposes of trading. As she was nearing the heart of the lands, a call familiar yet foreign reached her. Someone was challenging her nephew for Myriad? Was this just on a whim? Or had he fallen in someone's bad graces? The Chief altered her course to the battlefield, and she came to find a group of foreigners gathered. She stopped among them, amber gaze surprised to find that Peregrine was the one challenging for the pack. While she knew the woman to have ambition judging by their meeting, she didn't think she'd seek to rule a pack so soon. Then again, she didn't know the woman well enough to have known her intentions, let alone judge her that way.

Her gaze found Rivaxorus then, the boy standing an uncomfortably close distance to the challenger. And then the fight would start with Peregrine moving first. And truthfully, if it were here, she would have done the same if someone was standing in her bubble too. Yes, her nephew had been an alpha for near the same amount of time as she, but she felt he was still naive and had alot to learn. Just as she did on some things. Ears swiveled as someone shouted something about eating toes, and to her surprise, it was a tiny woman from Myriad. "It seems he doesn't have the respect of his pack..." That was a problem, wasn't it? While she had work to do among her own, at least they weren't wishing ill will against her.

Meandering behind his master with a slow roll of his hips and shoulders, his black-tipped tail swishing, Ehrgeiz was actually looking forward to their activity of the day. Someone had called for a pack challenge; it would be nice to see a little drama, maybe a little bloodshed, depending on who was fighting. By the time the two arrived, it seemed the fight had already begun, but it didn't look like they'd missed much. There was no scent of blood just yet, so they must have been just testing each other out to begin with.

Following Sabine as she chose a spot to view the fight - well, he supposed she wouldn't be viewing it, would she? - and very ungracefully he flopped down at her paws as he settled to watch the fight. Taking just a moment to let his singular blue eye scan around the many faces gathered. Not surprisingly, he didn't recognize anyone. It wasn't like he'd made any friends before he'd been reduced to Sabine's play thing. So, he set his gaze back onto the fight.

Ivory ears tilted back as his master pitifully called out that someone ought to describe the fight to her. He cringed, knowing it must be a kick to her pride to ask such a thing, and he almost felt bad for her for a moment. Almost. Except he knew what a capable bitch she was without her eyesight. He grunted as he contemplated describing it for her, then sighed. "Sabine, it's some little woman trying to take a bite outta the face of some big guy," he muttered up at the blind woman from his place on the ground, "She's probably gonna get her ass kicked, that guy's way bigger than her. Is she stupid?" Although he knew size wasn't everything in a fight, there was a pretty big size difference, and he couldn't see this going well for the little lady. Oh well. She deserved to get a beating if she'd taken on a challenger like this.

Wait for it

Nothing had been proven, and words were cheap. As adrenaline pumped through the man’s body - he truly blacked out the noise around him. No one existed, it was just this woman trying to take something precious from him. He was tired of being under minded - he was tired of no one really seeing what he could do. A growl ripped through his throat, and he taunted himself wanting her to hit him head on. He would try to break bone, hit wherever he could. There was no peace in his own war.

The male’s paws spread out onto the terrain for more traction, his knees bent at the joints to make him more rigid. With his head slightly tucked to his neck to protect his throat, his muzzle was pulled back in order to make it harder to grab hold of his face with the muscles tight. Tail leveling with his spine with his center of gravity and his ears pinned to the back of his head. Hackles raised in irritation and his shoulders rolled inward to again make himself more compact. His scruff rolled forward to make folds and rolls harder to grab hold of. His eyes narrowed to slits to protect his eyesight and the close proximity made it so she quickly was already shooting towards him.

When she reached up on her hind legs, the male would match her ten fold. Energy in his back legs springing him forward actually hoping to duck near her chest in his crouched motion - maybe even collide with her chest even if it would cause his own head some pain. Her paws would grapple a hold just beyond his shoulders, his head stuck slightly underneath her(approximately his eyes meeting up with her neck) as he was forced to stick close to the ground, his defenses would keep him rigid - she wouldn’t move him. His stomach muscles tightened to keep his balance underneath her. As he felt her jaws catch along the edge of his left ear near the back of his skull. A half inch wound puncturing through skin just at the tip and at the edge of his jaw line in a moderate fashion.

The male would seek the opportunity, his jaws opened and his head tilted to his own right about 10 degree’s. Attempting to latch his jaws harshly onto the left side of her throat, his lower jaw aiming towards the middle and the upper jaw on the upper side of her neck below her jawline. In that hope he wanted to deprive her of oxygen, hopefully make her pass out. His back legs would spread more to keep balance, tail lowering as he tried to thrust forward on them to send her back or topple her over. Essentially making an attempt to throw his weight and muscle around. His stomach muscles tightened to keep him compact and if she so tried she wouldn’t be able to scratch it open much. Keeping all four paws on the ground, his toes spread and his hackles still raised. As long as his scruff was rolled she wouldn’t be able to grab a hold of his head.

A challenge? For Myriad? Who the hell was challenging? Xephyris was on his paws and on his way as fast as he could, but he'd been on the far end of the territory. When he arrived at the battlefield, wolves of all kinds had already gathered, some of them unfamiliar, others recognizable. Rivaxorus had already begun to engage in battle, and the only supporter that had arrived for their Alpha was Armai. Ren and his sister were here, too, but it seemed they were watching and a little too pleased about this challenge. His silver eyes narrowed, lips curling in disgust. What was wrong with the wolves of Myriad? When had they all become a bunch of pushovers and back-stabbers?

Muscles tense, he would choose to ignore Zephyra's siblings for now, as well as all of the unfamiliar faces, and made his way over to Armai. The healer was one of few wolves in Myriad he trusted anymore. As he seated himself to watch for the outcome of this fight, it dawned on him how the pack was falling apart. How had this happened? What was going to happen now, whether Riv won or lost, with so much obvious mutiny throughout the entire pack?

Another came along, a scent she did not recognize, and the woman laughed at her. A scowl rose on her lips and she'd shake her head before she ignored the other girl completely. Idiot. That wasn't what she had asked. Armai wasn't a stupid creature. She knew what this challenger wanted, but why Rivaxorus' pack? Why uproot the lives of so many just for a title? Armai would never understand. And those loyal to Riv? Well she couldn't see them following her if this lady miraculously won.

The newer pack mate arrived, her scent was easy enough to recognize now, and Armai merely flicked an ear towards her direction before she moved on. It was Ren's appearance that caught her attention those most. He spoke as though he knew the woman well. Peregrine was her name and Armai found herself hating it - hating the woman who was trying to ruin everything. The fact Ren was wishing her luck made Armai growl deeply. A terrifying sound that hardly ever escaped the tiny healer.

The Alpha himself arrived and Armai wished she could actually see the fight. Instead all she was left with was this damnable darkness that was never ending. She was stuck listening to the gnashing of teeth, the smell of blood, and the sounds of pain and frustration all rolled into one. She'd just have to do her best to paint a picture of them, but considering she had no idea what they looked like didn't really help.

Another had arrived and the silver woman swung her head in the direction as she spoke. Ears pricked forward as she mentioned someone helping a blind woman and for a moment Armai wondered if she'd meant her. She didn't know this woman though so she concluded that there was another blind wolf among them. What were the odds. She would have shifted closer so she could get a good idea of what was going on if anyone described things to her, but the scent of another of Myriad's members caught her attention.

To her dismay it was one of Zephyra's siblings and it wasn't the good one either. Her eyes rolled as she realized this was the childish brat who screamed that she was going to eat his toes and threw a tantrum like a toddler. Couldn't Zeph have better family? What was so great about keeping them around? Her attention shifted to another scent, this time it was Xephris, and she dipped in her head in what she hoped to be his direction as he came and sat near her. She would have said something to him if it hadn't been for the brat egging on the challenger to "eat Riv's toes." She'd had about enough of those words and at this point she didn't care if it was Zephyra's siblings or not. She liked the secondary alpha, but her siblings could eat shit for all she cared. They weren't doing anything for the pack anyways.

"I'm going to let Nox eat your face here in a minute if you don't shut the hell up." She'd threaten, Nox growling loudly from beside her as if to emphasize the point. "Riv should have exiled Ren when he had the chance, the sister too." She muttered to Xephris. She'd never been a part of a pack before, but she was positive this wasn't how it's members were supposed to act. Where was the support for their alpha?

Armai has a female snow leopard companion that goes by the name of Nox. It can be assumed that she is always with Armai unless otherwise stated.

Everybody wants
what they just can't hold
Fucking hell. She recognised that call. Not the canine that the call belonged to, but the reason behind the howl. A challenge. For Rivaxorus, for Myriad. She'd heard it before, plenty of times. It was distant, emerging from nowhere else than the barren lands of the battlefield. Who could be challenging for a pack, and why? What had they ever done to provoke outsiders? Perhaps they had been too quiet. Perhaps someone saw them as the ideal target, the weakest prey. But how?

They had a rat in Myriad.

The queen was quick to arrive at the battlefield, following behind the pack though on her own accord, almost separately. She was part of the pack, yes, as the secondary alpha, but for this challenge she was on her own. She kept her distance from everyone, until she reached the main clearing where a russet woman awaited Rivaxorus' arrival. Ah, the brave challenger. She was much smaller than him, amassing a fairly large crowd around her. Most of Myriad had gathered, with some other rogues and pack-wolves. A stoic, emotionless expression remained on her features as she slowly navigated around the outskirts of the crowd, taking the scene in. He seemed...unfazed, unchanged, like this was like any other spar in his life, almost overconfident. Did he not realise the entire pack was at stake? Their entire world, the world they had built together, could crumble around them. Good luck with that, she thought to herself bitterly, taking a seat near Avalon. She dipped her head to the older alphess, just as her sister called out a remark along the lines of 'eating toes'.

In some sick way, she wouldn't mind Myriad's fall.

Tension was thick in the air, though it was no less than Peregrine expected. Obviously there was a lot at stake. Many wolves had shown up in quite a short time, drawn by the promise of violence. She hoped she'd be able to give them a good show. For those who questioned her, for those from Myriad who sat there with a frustrated, even accusatory look in their eye, she might have smiled. Were they really so fucking stupid? If they were following an alpha worth his mettle surely they wouldn't be so concerned, and certainly his own members would not have come to cheer her on, even if it was only one or two. Could they not understand that word travels fast and that reputation meant everything when you sat in a seat of power? She might have given them a good old laugh if she weren't... Well, occupied.

Her opponent met her attack with a charge on his own, though it would not seem to make it as far as he wished. With such a small space between them her grapple had fallen into place just beyond his shoulders in short enough time that his collision with her clavicle was somewhat mitigated. Though it winded her a bit, she doubted she would walk away with much more than mild bruising. She took a quick attack of opportunity once she realized that her crushing bite had fallen off target, landing farther back on his skull that she intended, closer to his left ear than his left eye and inflicting only moderate damage. Her jaws would lunge forward yet again, this time attempting to latch clamp down upon his ear, to twist and pull while she tightened the grip of her forearms, hoping to pin his head to her chest for a brief moment seeing as he had so generously placed it there, so that he could not bite anything else.

However, once she felt the titan begin to shift again she decided it would be wise to release her grip and collect herself, as opposed to being bowled over and overpowered. His strength was surely superior to hers, best not to let that get out of hand. She loosened the grip of her forepaws from around his neck, putting almost all of her weight onto her hind paws and attempting to slide her forelimbs down and around his neck while maintaining contact so that she could shove off from Rivaxorus' chest, hoping and aiming specifically for his own clavicle in return. He then turned his head to his own right and lashed outwards in an attempted bite, but as she was positioned on his left side and now moving slightly backwards in relation to him it would have no effect.

She took this time to fall back onto all four paws and spent only a second resetting her defenses. She ensured that her limbs were spaced evenly apart and bent them slightly so that her center of gravity would be lowered, giving her a more stable stance. Her claws bit into the earth, a steady foundation for wherever she chose to go next. Each joint in her legs was loose, knowing she may have to spring out of his path at any moment, and she kept the muscles of her abdomen coiled and ready to ensure that same goal could be easily achieved. Her ears remained flat atop her skull, her eyes squinted shut and her jaw loosened, eager to snap shut around whatever body part he saw fit to offer her. She aligned her neck, spine and tail once more. Her hackles were still raised up but she once again rolled her shoulders and forced forward the loose skin of her neck in case he decided to have another go at it.

When he charged forward she would sidestep to her own right, hoping to keep her positioning on his left side and hoping as well that the nimble mobility her smaller stature provided would be enough to keep her one step ahead of him. She would twist her head to the left and aim a bite at his left flank, her top jaw hoping to find purchase in the muscle of his shoulder while her bottom jaws would hopefully catch in the space beneath his armpit and give her a more secure grip of the limb. Her goal was to sink her fangs deep into the flesh, to rip into it, to tear it away from the bone. After all, what good was all this size and strength if the man was crippled?

The call had been a complete surprise to the young male and it quickly drew his interest away from his current activities. It had been a summoning challenge call to his brother and Jackson would be there to support his family. He ran, quickly closing the distance to the gathering on the battlefield. When he arrived he lingered outside of the gathering, his ears picking up the words and his eyes looking over everyone who approached. The mix of emotions from the last pack gathering came back and this time they did not set well at all. His bi colored eyes focused on the form of Ren as he spoke to the lady, he knew her, and it seemed he supported her. Everything lately seemed to be revolving around this male and Jackson didn't understand why this male had such ill feelings towards his brother. He gave Ren a home, a purpose, the ability to be with his family, and all he asked of Ren was to work in the pack like the rest of the members. Why had Ren been so stubborn, why did he not want to be apart of the pack.

These thoughts plus the comments from the mess of strangers approaching made the male sour. It made him angry and miserable. He stalked forward to the only person he felt he could trust, Armai. He sat down beside her, with his head lowered as he watched everyone. There was little support for his brother and it angered him. Riv had provided the territory, the home, the purpose to these pack members and they so easily turned against him. It seemed the only support his brother was getting was from Armai and Xeph. The new member of the pack that was here he had never met before and didn't know where her alliances lay. Nixie's words, then Armai's and Jackson looked to the blind healer beside him and sighed. As she spoke to Xeph Jackson would nod in agreement.

"I agree, it never should have gotten this far," he replied lowly.

His eyes then looked to their queen and he felt as though she didn't even support his brother anymore. Ren was her family and Jackson could understand that, but so was Riv and now she seemed to distance herself and he could see the bitterness on her face. His eyes turned back to the fight and looked to his brother, he stood and raised his head.

"Show them all brother," his voice deep and rumbled, showing his support to his brother.

Karabela was focused and intent as she maneuvered through the treacherous mountains of Fenrir's Maw down toward the base of the mountain. It was rough work but if she was going to start up a pack in these mountain ranges then she needed to know as much about them as she possibly could. It would be dangerous living but it would be hard for a pack to rest on its laurels with the very territory screaming for alertness. At the base of the mountains to the west was the battlefield and when Karabela heard the call for a challenge she could scarcely believe that the call was from her friend and travel companion, Peregrine.

Taking a deep breath Karabela picked up the pace. Her form was large and tall but lithe and agile and she quickly finished her descent before racing toward the battlefield, panting as she went. She arrived among a good-sized gathering just as the male Pere was challenging arrived. The words exchanged so far had been quite civil and Karabela moved to sit next to the speckled woman with the magpie that was clearly a friend of Peregrine's as she wondered if the man realized what was at stake. Honestly, if it had been her she'd be threatening to gut this woman but perhaps the reality of challenges had simply never been pulled to the forefront of her thoughts until now. Raba frowned. There hadn't been a challenge in Boreas for some time and it occurred to her that if she started her own pack she would be at risk from challenges as well. Her toes flexed as her face settled into an expression of cool determination. If that ever happened to her, win or lose, she'd be sure to give the other wolf hell.

The battle began with explosive violence and Karabela felt a swell of pride as she watched her friend charge forth. She didn't mark Peregrine as the warrior type but dam was the smaller woman ferocious. "C'mon Peregrine…" she whispered.

Ears swiveled, and Ren watched as Riv entered. He dipped his head to Riv as well; while he was all-too-pleased with this challenge and terribly amused by it (mostly because he hadn't expected it in the least), he actually, in all honestly, did wish Riv the best of luck. He could not tell who would win this - though he as definitely learning more towards Peregrine. "Good luck to you as well, Rivaxorus," he called out, his voice quite sincere; in a battle such as this, regardless of whether he liked or disliked any of the fighters, they both deserved a wish of good luck. After all, he did not wish to see Rivaxorus dead after all.

A demanding, sarcastic voice caught his attention, and he turned his head to peer at a very large red and gray woman who claimed herself to be blind. He approached, only to catch on to the last words of the male beside her. Chuckling, he started to elaborate. "The challenger, Peregrine, is a female wolf about a head shorter than the alpha of Myriad, Rivaxorus. Peregrine was given the first moe, and she seems to be quite comfortable with a fighting stance," here Ren paused, surveying the fight. It was honestly quite unexpected, now that he thought about it. He knew Peregrine was a trader. Why was she challenging for this pack? Was it because of his words? Truthfully, he did not know the fighting ability of Rivaxorus. "She's reared up - she's trying to wrap her paws around his neck and is aiming to take out his eye. Wow, she's vicious. Rivaxorus tried to dodge by lunging under her, but she landed on him anyways, though her paws are simply on his shoulders. She is trying to bite his ear, though, he's now trying to bite her neck but his jaw is more even with her chest, and he's throwing his weight around to try to knock her off - Hmmm..." he reported, eyes gleaming as he watched the fight. Oh yes, he was quite interested in this outcome... and he actually did enjoy relaying the fight to this woman.
