Maybe Fortune is a celestial body, moving to join the stars. It was starting to get colder now, and she was alive with it. Alive with it, filled up with it, fucking fantastic with it. It nearly makes the creature dance, she feels so lovely. The evenings were coming sooner and sooner, and Fortune finds herself wandering the Plains with no one to entertain her. Such is typical-- there's a shared den with the main family, and everyone else is bedded down with their respective units. Fortune sleeps on her own. Fortune has slept on her own since arriving, and that's... cold? Something like that. She's been distant, despite her family being all around her. Hunting for the family. Making sure that the expecting mothers always had something at hand, that the elderly didn't have to work too hard to find food. Those were the things that mattered. Those were the things that Fortune focused on. There was always a backstock of hares and birds, but not too many. Goddess forbid they go to waste, right? It's fall now, they would need to start putting things away for winter. They would start the stocking, the storing, for when prey would be scarce. She wouldn't let anyone go hungry this winter if it was the last thing she did. Adding a black hare to the small pile of prey by the alpha's dens, Fortune takes a moment to look at the Vericona Plains in the dimming light. This place wasn't so bad. It wasn't so bad after all. Everyone was cared for, everyone was fed. Her family. Why didn't it feel like a family yet? Why did Fortune still feel so alone? fortune shock & awe |
