It was before dawn when Evangeline woke to leave her temporary den and venture into the chilly autumn air. Stretching her tall, graceful form, she slipped on her half-filled pack. A careful shake settled it comfortably on her back, and she tugged at the straps to tighten them so it wouldn't slide when she moved. Another experimental shake showed the pack adjusted to her satisfaction. There was nothing in the pack that could be damaged by a bit of jouncing around (just some marjoram and peppermint she'd harvested along the way) so she set out at a brisk trot to wake up. Sunrise found her passing into the redbud nook, the destination she'd had in mind from the start. She hoped to gather juniper berries to bring back with her to the knolls - the bitter cones were useful for a good many things, including a contraceptive. Not that she'd had any sort of opportunity to make use of that particular knowledge, she thought sourly to herself.

She paused her search to absently snip a few sprigs of bee balm and tuck them into her pack. The onset of autumn meant that these herbs would soon disappear, so she might as well collect anything useful she saw even if it wasn't what she'd come here for.

there were no cracks to grasp or gaps to claw
Scoping out new area's to build a pack was a nuisance to say in the least. Not to mention recruiting, however he was free again. Ivalice didn't hold him like shackles. The scent soon to fade since his talk with Avalon. He was filled with a sense of small pride, and the almost usually emotionless male was on a mission. Though the exotic male stopped, when he spotted a young female gathering herbs into a pack. A healer, he could only assume yet a stranger could be anything so he smirked slightly. Then went back to looking like he felt nothing, something also this stranger looked familiar.

"I've never seen a wolf carry things in something like that." Liar would stay a distance away. For her own comfort, and his of course. As his tail cocked to one side, he'd wait and see what would happen. He was one to piss people off and not care, but he wouldn't take for granted what he had learned the past few seasons.

She had just bent her head to harvest the leaves of a witch hazel shrub when a voice made her jump and drop the leaves. She jerked her head to the side to bring the speaker into view, gold eyes narrowing and hackles rising with menace. But the male who'd spoken kept his distance, so rather than snapping defensively at a target out of her reach, she lifted her head and tail with regal imperiousness to stare down at the oddly marked, shorter wolf. He had commented on the unusual nature of her pack and how she used it to carry things, and Evangeline preened a little at the reminder of her uniqueness and superiority. "I'm hardly surprised you've never seen it," she sniffed dismissively. "Not everyone is so forward thinking as I am."

Though still keeping watch on the stranger, Vana dipped her head to snatch up the dropped witch hazel leaves and tuck them into the pack with the other herbs. Still no juniper berries yet, but she knew they grew here. It was simply a matter of time before she found them.

The male would watch her carefully and a smile arose on his face. Watching her hackles raise just meant she was a fiesty. Liar had an interest in women like that but he was not seeking to woo her. After all it meant she had better things to do. "Im glad someone as beautiful as you has smarts. Been running into too many thick ones." Liar remained distant as he looked off for a moment.

"Is there a way i could assist you? My names liar, unfortunate enough to be cursed by that name by my father." He knew too many who judged him on those grounds. He was sick of it and even if she was taller he carried himself proudly. A king was always a king but he could never deny a wolf their right.
