Hunting for gifts

The man had gotten up early and left the den before his daughter had even stirred to begin the day. He had found multiple rabbit holes to ensure they would find plenty of them to take to her alpha and friend as thanks. No amount of rabbits would ever be payment enough for taking care of her, but he hopped to have the chance to keep paying the two of them back for it. Max would have never been able to forgive himself if anything had happened to her.

Now he sat at the edge of the lake, ears perked and blue orbs watching as the sun filled the land with light and what little warmth it provided during autumn. The leaves on the trees were all but gone and the ones that covered the ground were various shades of yellow, orange, red and brown. The water's gentle ripple made little sound but the birds singing as the sun raised itself in the sky would never grow old.

As he sat in excited silence he wondered how well Delany would do with her first hunting lesson. She had not yet come from beneath the tree, but he was sure she would be just as excited as himself once she greeted the morning with the smile that usually graced her features.
