He had slowly been heading towards the west since he had spoken to Faite. There was a certain chill in the air that spoke of winter, and he knew that it would be foolish to keep himself out in the open. But his wandering was aimless, he wasn't quite sure where he was going. Cedar was at his side as they strolled through the unknown territory, when a thick fog soon wrapped around them. Sucking in a deep breath, a sense of fear rose in the gray man's belly. They could hardly see a foot in front of them, both canines slowing their steps to move with caution. An eerie call of a crow sounded from somewhere to the left, making Oleander flinch at the sudden harsh noise. This was just getting to be a bit too much, far more than he had bargained for. The wolf turned to move back in the direction that they had come from, but the thickness of the fog blocked his view in every way. His tail moved upwards to tuck towards his belly, his flank tapping against Cedar. It almost made him jump out of his skin, shuddering as he eyed the smaller man. Even the stoic jackal was displaying signs of fear, where he usually avoided showing any emotion at all. Swallowing hard, he knew that it was up to him to lead them out of this. Squinting his teal eyes, he tried to keep an eye out for any kind of landmark at all, perhaps a stone or fallen log that he could clamber on to get a better view. But all he could see was a wall of gray, making him feel panicky and claustrophobic. Ollie's heart hammered in his chest as he stood stalk still, unsure where he was supposed to go from here. Cedar let out a high pitched whine, and he pressed himself against his brother. They could get through this together, they just needed to wait until they could see a bit better.

Trick!

Oleander gets a trick!

The malevolent fog hides an unexpected danger - a rabbit warren has flooded in a recent storm and undermined the ground beneath. The call of a screech owl startles the companion into a misstep... and the ground opens beneath his feet to swallow him! Cedar is trapped in a deep sink hole and will need rescue. Oleander gets a bad event!

Birna's thick winter coat protected her from nature's chill but there was a frigid note in the air that she really couldn't explain. It made her hackles raise. She'd found herself venturing to the west, aimless as always though hopefully not longer. A plan was forming in her head and she had every intention of following through with it so she supposed this was just one last play at the life of a wandering loner before she resettled in a pack. Hopefully, she would be able to stay with this one until the end of her days and if not well… she would be a loner once again. The thought was incredibly depressing in a way, she just wanted a stable life! All this change, this constant uprooting was really starting to wear on her.

Moving through the moor Birna narrowed her eyes as she tried to perceive the territory through the thick fog. She flinched as she heard a sudden high-pitched whine. What the heck was that? The whine was followed by the sound of shifting earth. Birna quickly moved in the direction of the sound, sticking to the parts of the moor thick with grasses and likely to be more stable under her feet, or at least she hoped. She quickly came upon a sink hole and opted to keep her distance but she could just make out the form of some sort of canine there. "Hello? Hey, do you need any help?" She wasn't entirely sure how she was going to go about a rescue. Could she lower something in?

The whole mood around this place was creepy, and a chill settled under his grey fur. With a shudder he went to go lean on Cedar, only to see that he wasn't at his side anymore. Panic started to flutter at his chest as he took a few steps forward, squinting to see through the damn fog. Where had he gone? It was then that he heard a sharp yelp, followed by a whine from Cedar. "Cedar! Ubi es? Ego potest non videre!" he shouted, obvious stress in his vocals. A sharp little bark was his only answer, and he stepped towards his left ever so carefully. His toes teased the edge of a hole, and he stopped to stand very stiffly. Peering down, it was very difficult to see anything at all with the fog that swirled around them. But the soft whimpering that reached his ears was all he needed to know that his brother had fallen down the hole. Dropping to his belly, he tried to reach down but couldn't even brush the tip of his outstretched paws. Oleander's chest constricted tightly like he was being choked out, fear gripping him tightly. He couldn't reach him!

Just as he was about to lose hope, a voice called out through the fog. Ollie's head snapped up, but of course he couldn't see a thing. "Yes, please! Hic, over here!" he shouted. He had no idea if it was a wolf or an angel, but he would take all the help he could get right now. "Diligenter, careful! There is a hole over here," He didn't want them to fall down as well, that would just make his problem even worse. He wished that he could see, that he could offer his brother some sort of comfort. Turning back towards the hole that had swallowed Cedar, he let out a soft whine. "Auxilium venit Cedar. Tenebit iustus frater tenere." He prayed to whatever gods were out there that this stranger would be able to help, that he wouldn't lose his brother on this day.
