There's something lovely in her system today, the high that comes with a good hunt. A long hunt, but a lovely one. Wild boar, a creature that had flourished on the very edges of her consciousness. They were rather annoying, loud, hard headed. Not anything she was overly in love with but jeeze they were tasty. Awfully tasty. A bit gamey, but the meat would keep them full. Would keep the prey pile stocked. Fortune comes trotting back to the center of the Valley, a small boar dragging as she comes. It's with surgical care that she removes a haunch from her fresh kill, leaving the remainder of the carcass in the communal pile. Breakfast hung from her jaws, and she moved to Faite's den. Breakfast for both of them, the brave and her sister. Had to share the best cut with her best friend. She moves to the edge, of the woman's den, barking softly around the shank still in her mouth. Breakfast is what it said, breakfast for both of them. Though the hour was still early, it was time to be awake. Fortune was proud of her find, and longed to share it. fortune shock & awe |

It could be considered early by most, but it was late for her standards. Her duties as a mother, and as an alpha now, often didn't allow her to sleep in. Most days her internal clock allowed her to rise pretty early, but this morning was different. She'd stayed up rather late the night before and now she was paying for it. So needless to say she was asleep when the soft muffled bark reached her ears. They flicked instinctively, and yet it still took Faite groggy minute to realize who it was. He head raised slowly and her eyes opened sleepily to peer towards the entrance of the den. She recognized Fortune's larger form and could easily pick up the scent of boar as it reached her nostrils. So her sibling had got breakfast for them? It seemed like she wouldn't be getting any more sleep this morning, but it was okay with her. She'd had things she needed to get done for the day and Fortune had now at least made hunting one less thing. For that she was grateful. Her adopted sibling was good at her duties, probably one of the most productive wolves she'd ever seen, and Faite was grateful for her presence in the pack. She certainly deserved some recognition for it. She rose to her paws and stretched, very cat-like, before padding to the mouth of the den and into the sunshine. She greeted Fortune with a wide smile and a friendly wag of her tail before glancing at the chunk of boar she'd brought. "I see you've been busy this morning." She chuckled. "Whereas I just decided it'd be a nice day to sleep in." "Speech" I like to imagine That you smile when you hear my songs |

Fortune is glowing, alight with the way she interacts and the way that she stands to greet Faite. Times like these are her favorite, are the ones she'll remember forever. They are best friends, they are thick as thieves. Best friends and sisters, they stand together. It's been much the same for the last... how long was it? It's breathtaking, really. Nothing would come between them, now or ever. She bows low when the other woman appears, ham shank flopping about in her jaws. "It's such a beautiful day, how could you even think of sleeping in!" Fortune teases, pretending to be annoyed as she brings her gift forth. "The hogs are huge, honestly. We aught to cull a few more so they don't become a nuisance... and they're delicious." The brave sets it down gently at her pseudo sister's feet, inviting the alpha to eat beside her. "Come on, breakfast." Eyes lighting up, posture open and friendly. This is what happens when she's got her favorite person. "We should maybe talk to some of the other packs, gather some other hunters... have everyone bring their spring litters out. We can meet and socialize. Maybe find me a suitable husband," Fortune adds the joke on the end, but the lead in is in all seriousness. Her tail wags, grin rakish as she takes a big bite of the haunch. Head tossing, entire body wiggling as she stands before Faite, presenting her idea as grandly as she can. Oh how lovely it would be to hunt and to eat and to meet everyone. fortune shock & awe |

Fortune bowed, a strange gesture that Faite still wasn't used to, but she waved the thought away. Instead she grinned lightly as the other woman teased her. It really was a beautiful day going to waste by sleeping in that much was obvious. If she didn't have kids to tire her out she was sure she would have been up much earlier, but that was the thing about having children. She certainly loved the five of them and she wouldn't change it even if she could. She was sure things would change as the kids got older and found their own dens. The idea of them growing up frightened her slightly but she was aware it was inevitable. "Why don't you babysit five kids for a week and see how you feel afterwards." She teased back with a grin before she stuck her tongue out at her in a very immature way. It felt good to be joking though. It wasn't how she expected her morning to go, but already she was enjoying it. Fortune changed the subject to the hogs and she listened with interest while Fortune dropped the piece of hog she'd brought for her to enjoy. She settled in to eat as she thought about the hogs. Another pack hunt so soon probably wasn't a good idea, but the pair of them could have a separate hunt soon. They could help keep the count down and feed the pack at the same time. It was a task they could certainly accomplish on their own and, she was right, the hogs were delicious. "That's a good idea. It's definitely something we can manage on our own. Maybe we can drag the kids along some time for something. Maybe not with the hogs, but they're about old enough to start learning." She said in between bites of breakfast. It felt good to bounce ideas off of someone. She probably could have discussed it with Zell, but it'd never actually occurred to her to do so. With Fortune it just happened naturally, mostly because Fortune took the initiative to, but all the same it was nice all around. Speaking of nice things, Fortune brought up something Faite had been trying to arrange for a little while now. She'd fully intended on organizing a pack event between two packs. She'd tried with Ivory Ridge and she was still waiting on Karabela to get back to her on it. Visiting the other packs was a good idea though. She'd been meaning to for some time now, but hadn't found the time to take such a long break away from everything. She chuckled at the husband comment. "I tried planning something with Ivory Ridge, but I have yet to hear anything about it. Visiting another pack sounds like a grand idea though." She explained and then her thoughts started wandering to an idea she'd had for a little while now. It had started off as only an idea but sitting here, talking with Fortune, it turned into more of a decision. "I have a proposition for you, if you're interested." She started off. "Originally I'd intended on just leading the pack by myself. I'm sure I could manage alone, but it'd certainly be easier if someone filled the secondary alpha position. So how about it, wanna be the Kaliq?" She offered with a grin. "You've been more than helpful since the pack was raised, you've organized hunts, and overall I think you have good qualities befitting of an alpha." They're teasing, grinning, more than happy to romp around. It's like they don't have the responsibilities, they're letting everything just kind of... go. Just for a few moments. They're good at that, and they make a good pair. "Hey, you know if you ever need a break, I'd be happy to take them off your hands for a bit," grinning, tail wagging. Fortune shoots back with her own tongue out, eyes bright. "They can at least watch, I can go over tracking and positioning." Fortune grins rakishly, head tilting back slightly in the morning sun. How beautiful it was. "I've been sitting on an idea for the kids, we can play hide and seek, let them track us. " She nibbles at the shank, big enough to share. That's what happens when you let her bring breakfast. A nibble here and there, sharing a meal as family. "It would be nice to spend time with another pack, develop a relationship," tail wagging. They needed to branch out, right? That would be... good. Great, even. It could work. At Faite's proposal, Fortune's jaw drops. She's not used to having the praise heaped upon her shoulders. She's unable to contain herself, throwing her body into Faite's, a hug. Sisters. Confidants. She's so incredibly excited, shaking with it. "It would be my honor." Everything is wagging, shaking, eyes wide and wild. She's happy. More than happy. Everything is... wonderful. Fortune is wonderful. fortune shock & awe |
