Peregrine embraced the change of season with gusto, as she usually did. Autumn was a particularly loved season, as the harvest overtook the land in tones of vibrant gold and crimson, with crisp blue skies and blustery winds. Of course, they were not so far into the season as to experience her favorite bits, but there was a definitive change in the air, a nip which heralded colder days to come.

For the time being, the world around her was shrouded in mist. It brought a chill to the air, on top of stilling it entirely. Sound seemed to move through it as if she were underwater, and Peregrine found herself feeling strangely cut off from the rest of the world. Well... From everyone but Tsiry, of course. If their friendship had been somewhat adversarial at first, she now considered the lemur one of her closest friends. Whether the prosimian would admit it or not, Pere knew she felt the same. For the moment, her orange-furred, blue-eyed friend was tugging at clumps of withering plants.

Tsiry had had the idea to gather the seeds of the dying plants, intending to force Peregrine into claiming a permanent home, wondering if she might be able to coax the seedlings to grow on their own terms. Peregrine herself was dubious, doubly so about choosing a permanent home, but the idea of growing herbs she could watch grow and guide as they went was an intriguing idea. She could not say whether or not it would work, and she would have to wait a season and then some regardless, but the seeds did not take up much space at the end of the day. There was no harm in trying. So absorbed by her work, Peregrine began to loose awareness of her surroundings, completely engulfed instead by the task at hand.

Back again he was walking through the mists, head lowered, and purple eyes seemingly glowing with anticipation to find some sort of meal. Tongue swiped across his blackened lips, the fur upon his back dancing with the light breeze that had suddenly appeared. It was gone just as quickly as it came, blackened nostrils flaring for the scent of something that could be deemed as food. It didn't take long for that breeze to bring Varon the scent of a stranger creature, but a creature nonetheless. Fangs preparing themselves, the foreigner lowered his head even closer to the ground, attempting to spot the bearer of the weird smell. Moments passed, large paws delicately moving the man forward as quiet as possible.  It didn't take long to spot the small shadow of an animal, nails digging more excitedly into the ground with each step. It was small, but it would have to do.

Completely focused upon the small creature, the Russian did not smell or even see the nearby canine that was lurking about as well. The mist was simply too thick. Closer and closer... yes, there was a need to get even more closer if the young adult was going to catch this... thing with success. Tail flickering in preparation, Varon suddenly lunged forward, maw wide open with glistening teeth. He was only meters away, and he attempted to go as quick as possible. Muscular legs had powered his large body forward at a good speed, but if the creature ran quickly, he would not be able to keep up the same speed. There was no chance Varon would know that this strange animal belonged to another fellow wolf.

OOC: I give permission for Pere to simply stop him by stepping in between, or running right into him to knock him down.

OOC: Rude language ahead, whoops!

Peregrine had not smelled the stranger until it was almost too late. A last minute shift of the wind had pushed his scent in her direction, close and strong enough to send a trill of alarm throgh her body. She much preferred wolves who announced themselves, after all. Their intentions were usually far less sinister, in her experience. "Tsiry?" she called out, not knowing where her friend had gotten off to. Herbs forgotten at her feet, she scanned the surrounding brush, relieved at seeing a flash of orange... and horrified to see a bit of brown lurking in the brush behind her. "Tsiry, get down!" she called out with a snarl, leaping towards the mysterious assailant just as he burst from cover.

Tsiry gave an "Eep!" and flattened herself to the ground. Peregrine soared over her head and collided bodily with the other man, hoping to use the impact of her leap to topple him sideways. She did not pursue him, however. Peregrine didn't know if he was alone, and she wasn't about to leave Tsiry unguarded. She came to rest standing directly over her small friend, one leg planted on each compass axis so that the lemur was entirely beneath her. Her eyes locked on the brown male, her molten mercury orbs flashing with anger. "Fuck off," she snarled. "You're not gonna find a meal here." Still, she did not move to attack or pursue the male. Frankly she hoped he'd just leave, because she was in no mood for a fight. She sighed in frustration. It hadn't been the first time she'd had to protect Tsiry from her own kind, and she doubted it would be the last.

This strange creature released it's own noise, revealing to anyone nearby that it was in danger. Mere seconds had passed since the sudden lunge, but already, another animal had come into view. With bared fangs, and a feminine voice, Varon had only a second to see a flash of rustic hues before suddenly being forced off his course, feeling himself slipping onto his side from the sudden need to change direction. Whoever it was, they were intent on stopping the Russian right in his tracks. "Что за нахуй?!" Falling down, the man was quick to swing himself back onto his feet, legs spread, tail high in the air, and fur upon his back standing up in attention. It was an instinctual response - teeth bare, a low growl coursed through his throat before stopping to see the attacker. "Fuck off. You're not going to find a meal here." Silver eyes were locked, Varon peering down to see the creature hiding beneath the female who had just toppled him over. It was a strange sight, something he had never seen before. Obviously this creature was a partner, but why would a fellow canine take on such a friendship with food?

As the situation began to uncover itself, body would calm in the presence of the silver-eyed female. He now rather embarrassed to have made such a mistake. Glaring down at the lemur and then finally back up at the fellow wolf, audits pushed back and maw would open, "What is it? I've never seen such a creature before." Speaking with a rough accent, the earthly toned man was now rather curious, nostrils opening, smelling not only this new wolf, but also the small creature. The smell if it was strange, but there was something noticeable about both - the scent of many plants. Was she a healer? The Russian was raised as a provider - both to protect and to hunt. It was rather traditional, as most canines were from his old back. The knowledge of herbs was very little, but they certainly smelled good. With a more calmer body, though head still slightly lowered and legs spread out in case she attacked, Varon awaited for the woman to make the next move. She had a rather foul mouth, but it was understandable considering he almost ate her companion.
