Nerves
She had made it! Or...she thought. She had ran further than she'd ever run before, and she loved every minute of it! She had so much energy from her excitement at seeing the world, that she wanted to run some more! But then she saw a squirrel, and decided to give chase. She wasn't sure where the heck she was now, but she knew she wasn't near home. She didn't really dwell on the possibility of being lost though, she was sure she'd find her way back home at some point, even if her trail ran circles and across itself from chasing the squirrel around, but for now she would explore the cave she had come across. The squirrel had initially darted into the small opening, and since she couldn't just leave things alone, followed it in. What she found inside was amazing! To her at least, and she stared around the caverns in awe. Nostrils flared as she picked up the earthy scents and was fascinated in general. She had never been in a cave before, just old hollow logs that she often pretended were caves.
She immediately forgot about the squirrel, instead her attention was on the cave and the mysteries it held. Bi-colored eyes wandered, and she wondered if the caverns led anywhere. Maybe there were secret passageways! Or treasure! Man that sounded awesome! Excitement coursed through her as she made her way further in, the damp and earthy smells masking her scent and cutting off any potential of being followed or tracked the deeper she went. She felt like she was pretty far in, no signs or smells of the outside world anymore...and she wasn't sure she could find her way back even if she wanted to either. Pausing for a moment, she looked around half uncertain, wondering if she should find her way back and go home or finish the race she had initially begun.
But then the sound of dripping caught her attention, and she abandoned that plan to search for the water source. Now that she thought about it, she was pretty thirsty. So water first, and then whatever came to mind after. Yep, sounded like a good plan! After several twists and turns, she found a small pool of water collecting on the ground, the dripping steady and rhythmic as it fell from the pointy rocks above. She gazed up at the pointed rocks, curious about how they could grow that way, but a few more drips of water and she remembered she was thirsty. She approached the small pool, and set to drinking her fill before any other distractions came along. |
He entered the caverns and shook the snow from his pelt. It had started to snow again and he gave a huff at it. He honestly liked the snow but this was too much. He stopped to give a yawn and a stretch of his muscles. He stopped though halfway through as a scent caught his attention. It was excited that much he caught, a brow lifted at that. He straightened himself and moved in further, twisting through the tunnels until he came to find her. She was small, definitely full grown. He sat and cleared his throat though, keeping his eye on her. "You going to hog all that water or can someone else get a drink?" He would wait and see how she would react.

She lapped up the water rather hurriedly, the girl realizing how parched she was from her energetic race to...wherever the heck she was supposed to go, but she was positive she was going the right way. After all, why wouldn't a cave be the ideal obstacle course!? Made sense to her at least. But of course, in the grand scheme of things, there was no race, and there was no finish line. But in her head, she swore up and down that's what was going on, and she wanted to win! She wondered if Rory or her mom had gone off to race too, and if they were behind her somewhere or if they were eating her dust. She giggled a little at that thought, though suddenly inhaling water which caused her to cough and sputter for a moment. When her little moment was over, she was about to resume drinking when a voice echoed around her, startling her and making her jump. She whirled to see the most giant wolf she had ever seen! She thought her father was big, but this wolf was definitely bigger than her dad! He wasn't close enough to where she had to crane her head all the way up, but he was definitely a giant compared to her tiny self. "Whooaaah! You're even bigger than my dad! And he's big!" She exclaimed with awe.
She realized then he had asked a question, and she scooted away from the water, tail wagging and bi-colored eyes sparking with curiosity. "You can have some! I think I'm done anyway, I'm in a race and I gotta find my way back so I can win!" She grinned, before looking away to figure out where the heck she had come from. Where was the way out? She had to get back on the path before the others beat her! Then, an idea struck her! "Hey! Do you know the way out? There's a race, see? I heard my mom and some other big red guy talking about tracking something, but I kinda wasn't also paying attention. I'm one hundred percent positive they were talking about some sort of race to the north though, and I gotta get back out so I can beat them!" |
He straightened up as she moved from the water and moved towards it. He took a few small laps before seating himself. She wouldn't be getting his name like some might. "They call me Satan." he turned his masked face to hers. The white of his mask was painted charcoal in this light but he probably looked like a cascade of color till it faded to almost black. Her words caught his attention. A race to the north? And tracking? Sounded more like a hunt to him. But the only thing North was him and Vi he was sure. Shit, were they after Vi? Did she kill some moron? Or was it him? He'd have to have his fun and get Vi and Kait out of there fast. He didn't like the possibility of losing either let alone his children. He'd have to play it smart.
To answer her he shook his head. "Nope but maybe we could find it together?" he gave a pause and shook his fur out. "though if your tracking something it might be almost impossible soon, got a winter storm coming in. Perhaps we should bed down in here and share body heat and stories?" it would be a start. To place his scent on hers and hopefully he could send her in a separate direction later. Possibly throw someone off for a bit. Though he could just hurt her enough that someone would be more concerned with finding her.

She cocked her head slightly at him when he mentioned his dad feeding him a special diet. What kind of diet was that? Would she get bigger too if she ate what he did? "Um...well, we eat rabbits, deer, birds, sometimes I eat mice and lizards. Also eggs and fish, and grass, and these yucky herbs so we don't get sick, but I think my favorite is fresh fish! What did your daddy feed you? Will I get as big as you if I ate it too!?" Ah, poor naive little girl. Had she any sense? Maybe. But she was as innocent and as pure as they come, and since this was the first time she'd been away from her parents and on her own, she was pretty new to the world. Or rather, to the darkness that walked upon the earth. She figured everyone was as nice as her pack mates, and this guy seemed pretty nice! So far, anyway. Her tail kept wagging even as he approached the pool and drank, and it was at that moment she had to crane her neck up to look at him, else she'd be looking at his ankles or something. Even when he sat, she looked up. But she was pretty small, so she supposed it was something she'd always have to do.
She smiled when he gave her his name, though she didn't know if Satan even meant anything. "Nice to meetcha, Mr. Satan! My name is Kairi Valentine!" A broad smile showed after she said her name. She did like her name alot, her daddy's last name was pretty. So was her momma's last name, but Kairi had always massacred it when she tried to say it and she just couldn't really pronounce it quite right. Oh well, it was still a part of her as long as her momma was around! After that, she kinda space in the moments of near silence. But when he spoke up again and said he didn't know the way out, she frowned. And at the mention of her tracking something, she gazed up at the ceiling in thought. "Y'know, I'm not sure what we were supposed to track. I think maybe a deer or something, I dunno. I took off before they finished talking, but I'm positive it was some sorta prey. That's the only thing we've tracked before, anyway." She gave a firm nod, pretty sure that that's what her mom and her uncle were talking about. But she'd beat them to it...if she could ever get out of here.
He said there was a winter storm or something, and she peered around as if she might be able to see the entrance she had come from, but of course she was too far to see it, let alone find it. If there was a storm coming, then it wouldn't be a good idea to go out in it. So when he suggested staying the night in the cavern and sharing stories, she was all over it. "That sounds like a good idea! I'd love to hear some stories, Satan!" She grinned, tail wagging as she stood there. Would they be camping out here next to the water? Or did he have another spot? She was excited about this now. They were gonna camp out! |
Oh this was just too easy, in fact this was gold. If it wasn't for the fact that she could provide useful to him in getting Vi out alive, she'd of been lunch already. Honestly her bubbly attitude was annoying to the man. Her question recieved a one worded answer, one she likely wouldn't understand but would hopefully believe was a type of fish. "Lýkoi". The other part he gave a shrug to. He didn't know if cannibalism had positively affected his growth, though he suspected it didn't or else Vi would be just as big as him. After all Vi had a much more voracious appetite and he seemed more than happy to supplement his meals with normal things.
Her name was noted though not entirely did he even care. She was a means to an escape plan, all he had to do was sweet talk her, hurt her, and send her running for the hills with his scent plastered all over her. It might make them think he had kidnapped her and taken her somewhere else. Of course he would send her farther north by letting her know of the more northern exits later and then she would have to find her way back south. It was the perfect getaway plan. He watched her and listened then as she spoke more of this "game". Simpleton, doesn't even listen to the things her alpha says and makes a game of everything. It took him a second before he nodded and blinked to her words. Showing her she must be right about the deer thing. Wait a minute, I can use this simpleton's want for games and fun to my advantage. Oh yes, he was a genius.
He laid down then a little farther from the water with his back legs out to the side and front legs forward. "Well then let's lay together for warmth and you can tell me some and I can tell you some." He was silent then waiting for her to curl up with him. She was like putty to him. Easy to mold and make do as he wanted and she wouldn't even know what she was doing.

"Lykoi." Her head tilted slightly, tongue lolling out. She didn't understand the word one bit, so maybe it was a type of prey she hadn't heard of. Maybe her mom and dad would know! She was sure they had hunted everything with how old they were. Not that they were that old, but definitely older than her, obviously. Her tail wagged as she sat, the girl leaning over to scratch at her ear though perked up rather quick when Satan spoke again. She cocked her head slightly, wondering if it was okay to lay down next to a stranger. Granted, he said it was okay, and it was for warmth...though she didn't feel very cold at the moment, but maybe he was? She hesitated for a moment, then decided she probably should if he was cold. So shuffling forward, she moved closer until she was on her belly, forelegs stretched forward and hind legs practically beneath her body as she pressed her side against him., bi-colored gaze looking at him as her tail wagged. "Alright, what kind of stories should we tell?? I don't have anything interesting, unless you wanna hear about the things me and my brother Rory do, he's my twin! I could also tell you about the things we like to do, or what the pack is like, or maybe about my crazy lookin' friend Jewell!? Or how about the time I first hunted down a toad..." She went on and on and on... Walk, "Talk" Think |
Her words of what stories she had caught him and he thought it over. If she told him everything about her pack it would be ripe for the taking and she might not even know what she had done. Not until he had taken over anyway. Though he had a thought about the girl beside him though he stuck it in the back of his mind for now. "Well how about I Tell you a story about a monster? Its also about a boy who lost everything, and he finds love in the end? Would you like that one? Or I could tell you about the princess who married a monster? And you can tell me all your stories and about your home? Sound like a deal?" would she know the stories were true and about him? No most certainly she wouldn't make the connection. He thought for another mo.ent before giving her another grin, his thoughts giving way to his perverse nature and how to make her bleed. She was likely two years at the max so she would either be in heat this season or about to next season. He could make her bleed easily that way. "And maybe after we have our story time we can play a game or two before we sleep? I'm sure you would like that."

She peered at him, tail thumping wildly against the ground until he said the word monster. She was focused on his words, not paying much attention to the way he was moving nor where his leg was, though even if she had noticed then she assumed it was normal. Her and her siblings played all the time, and she was always climbing all over her dad, so that was normal, right? "I've never heard about monsters, but the boy finding love in the end sounds great!" She sighed, head dropping towards the ground as a dreamy look showed, "I wanna find love some day! So let's do that story!" She looked at him again, tongue hanging from her mouth and bi-colored eyes bright.
She nodded at this idea. She liked this idea. She couldn't wait to go back home and share the story with Rory and the others and tell them she made a new friend! The whole race to the north thing had been wiped from her mind, the girl forgetting it in her new quest of storytelling! She definitely wanted to play too, that sounded like a great idea! "Oh yes, yes, yes! That sounds like a great idea! I wanna play tag after, can we? Can we? Huh? Can we?!" She rolled onto her side, small paws stretched in front of her, her back away from the man as she faced him, waiting for him to tell his story. |
