Can't beat the heat

Now she had fully settled Hirondelle was making a point to get to know the area around where she had made her den. First on her list was the giant hulking mountain that rose up above the pink forest casting much of it in it's shadow. So she had set off to climb up it's dark surface. As she had ascended so had the temperature and Dell found she had slowed considerably. Her limbs felt heavy and she was panting hard when she finally relented and settled onto her haunches then her sides, rips expanding and contracting as she breathed.

Dell idly wondered if this mountain was the reason the whole of the area felt so much warmer, even the porous stone she had flopped down upon felt like it was radiating heat. Her tongue lolled from her parted jaw and the girl rolled over, stomach up and paws hanging limply above her chest. The air was thick with moisture and felt heavy upon her coat. There were scents of other wolves but they were all stale and Dell wondered if this place was mostly uninhabited, and if it was for a good reason.
